ABC TV continues its coverage of the 2008-2009 Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) season.

A highlights package will screen Saturday afternoons at 2.30pm on ABC1; the live matches will screen on Friday nights at 8pm on ABC2.

This week sees Sydney Uni take on Adelaide.

For the first time, ABC Television will broadcast live coverage of the Victorian Football League (VFL) Grand Final in prime time on ABC1 screening Friday 26 September from 7.30pm.

Victorians will be able to watch the match live from Docklands on ABC1.

The match will be shown in Tasmania at 8pm on ABC1 (on half an hour delay).

The VFA/VFL Competition has been running since 1877 and for the past 50 years, ABC has been associated with local football league coverage in Victoria.

ABC TV's coverage of the Paralympic Games Beijing 2008 begins on Saturday September 6 at 9:50pm, when host Adam Hills along with Paralympic Gold Medallist Louise Sauvage and ABC Sport presenter Karen Tighe bring you all the colour and excitement of the spectacular Opening Ceremony LIVE.

The Ceremony promises to show the world the history and culture of China. It will also emphasise the value of life through interpretation of the emblem of the 2008 Paralympic Games, which represents Sky, Earth and Human Beings.

As Australia's largest ever Paralympic team of 170 athletes arrive to compete at the 2008 Beijing Games, ABC TV will be there to bring you all of the excitement.

Be assured when the Formula One returns to Spain, Brazil’s Felipe Massa will be hungry for victory after mechanical failure cost him victory just three laps from the finish line in Budapest.

Current World Championship Points leader Lewis Hamilton will also be keen to extend his lead after coming a disappointing fifth in Hungary. Tune in to see these two racing giants battle it out and to cheer on Australia’s Mark Webber, who’s currently residing in ninth place for Red Bull.

9.40pm Sunday/ August 17

The race for the 2008 MotoGP World Championship is heating up. Australia’s reigning World Champ Casey Stoner is hot on the heals of his arch rival Valentino Rossi. Round 12 of the Championship from the Czech Republic will be another pivotal race. Stoner won the round in 2007 and will need another outstanding performance this time around to keep his title hopes alive.

After a wire-to-wire victory at the British MotoGP, reigning world champion Casey Stoner currently sits 3rd on this year's championship standings behind Italy's Valentino Rossi and Spain's Danny Pedrosa. See if Casey can make up more ground at Round 11 of the Championship from the famed circuit in Hungary.

The campaign to bring back the Bledisloe Cup to Australian shores begins tonight.

New Zealand is still smarting from their disastrous world cup performance and determined to hang on to the silverware.

But new coach, former All Black Robbie Deans, will be keen to stamp his authority on this showdown. A Wallaby win will certainly take the wind out of the kiwi's sails.

It’s a new era for the Qantas Wallabies tonight when Robbie Deans takes the reigns as coach for Australia’s Test season opener against Ireland.

The Melbourne Test will be played live from Telstra Dome in Melbourne and will mark the kick off of the 2008 Bundaberg Rum Rugby Series.

Kiwi Deans, who is the first ever foreign coach of the Wallabies, has won four Super 14 titles while in charge of the Crusaders, making him the most successful coach in Super 12 and Super 14 history.

But will he be the man who can change the fortunes of the Wallabies though? Ireland will also be hoping they can turn their luck around after disappointing World Cup performances and their worst ever Six Nations campaign.

The coverage, which will begin with a pre-game show at 7.30pm, will be hosted by MATTHEW WHITE, with expert commentary from GORDON BRAY, DAN CROWLEY and TIM HORAN.
