In an Australian first, ABC News 24 is integrating the channel’s live news and other programs into YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, so viewers can watch live news within their favourite social network.  It means users no longer need to leave these platforms to access the live ABC News 24 stream online.

From today, ABC News 24 can be watched live within YouTube, Facebook and Twitter with ‘YouTube live streaming’ at:  http://bit.ly/abcnewsnow.

Along with a host of new programs, popular shows returning to ABC NEWS 24 for 2012 include: TONIC, ONE PLUS ONE, THE DRUM, THE WORLD, FUTURE FORUMS and THE QUARTERS.

ABC NEWS 24 reaches more than 3 million Australians each week. The channel continues to grow expanding its ability to show key events live from across the country and the world and presenting informed discussion and debate on the big issues facing the nation.

ABC NEWS 24 is on FreeView channel 24, Foxtel channel 202 and online.

Starting this Sunday, 4th December, ABC News24 is launching live simulcasts of  Al Jazeera Newshour beginning at 5.00am (AEDT).

Newshour is Al Jazeera’s flagship daily news program and ABC News24 will be simulcasting the two premier editions of the program seven nights a week, at 2.00am and 5.00am (AEDT).

The combination of Al Jazeera and BBC news on ABC News24 will give viewers live coverage of international news as it breaks throughout the night.

Al Jazeera Newshour provides live, breaking and in-depth news from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas drawing on the strength of the Al Jazeera worldwide network.

“The Al Jazeera Newshour is another welcome addition to the ABC News24 schedule, giving viewers access to the most up-to-date news from around the world,” said ABC News24 Controller Gaven Morris.
