Between the Lines

Channel Nine has decided to ditch this week’s edition of Between The Lines after originally planning to screen it despite the show’s axing last week.

The network originally said that last week’s fourth episode would be the last before deciding to screen the fifth after all. However, they have since pulled the plug.

Five episodes of the sports panel show were produced but due to poor ratings the show was scrapped.

Last week’s episode drew 531,000 viewers nationally.

Low ratings again have forced Nine to dump Mike & Molly from their schedule, after just one week of airing at 8pm Wednesday nights. Instead, yet another Big Bang Theory repeat – which Nine tonight have been promoting as three episodes in a row on Wednesday from 7pm. Add that to all the episodes on GO!

Why they didn’t just leave new Mike & Molly on GO! is a mystery!

Over to Thursday night and 8.30pm for the next two weeks will be a Polar Bear doco, narrated by Jack Thompson. The doco takes over the timeslot vacated by yet another failed show hosted by Eddie MacGuire – Between the Lines.

Honestly Nine, time to realise there is only so much you can do with the same hosts all the time!

Meanwhile, promos are well and truly underway pushing The Block for 7pm from Monday June 20.

The Good Wife, Ten 8.30pm

A key piece of evidence – a bloody glove – is missing in the case but suddenly turns up in the mail at Lockhart Gardner and lands on Alicia’s desk. The jury is already deliberating and they have little time. They review the cases where the judges may have taken bribes and have the glove DNA-tested, with surprising results. Meanwhile, the local Democratic committee wants to keep Eli Gold around and manage Peter Florrick’s next election, this time for Statewide office. He decides to set himself up at Lockhart Gardner. The sexual tension that has been simmering between Alicia and Will hits boiling point, leaving us to ponder the direction of the third confirmed season.

Betweeen The Lines, Nine 8.30pm
If you like this show, tune in tonight as is the last episode of this short lived sports program, hosted by Eddie Mcguire.

Channel Nine has cancelled new sports quiz show Between The Lines.

The Eddie McGuire-hosted series will finish next Thursday after premiering only three weeks ago.

The series has struggled to hold its audience following the 696,000 it pulled for its debut, chalking up only 518,000 last night.

Dominated by AFL commentators and without a permanent NRL member on the panel, the series was always going to find it challenging to rate in the league strongholds of  Sydney and Brisbane.

Machete Maidens Unleashed! 9.30pm ABC1

Karate-kicking midgets! Papier-Mache monsters! Busty babes with blades! Filipino genre films of the ’70s and ’80s had it all. With cheap labour, exotic scenery and non-existent health and safety regulations, the Philippines was a dreamland for exploitation filmmakers whose renegade productions were soon engulfing drive-in screens around the globe. This is the ultimate insiders’ account of a back lot where stunt men came cheap, plot was obsolete and there were very little clothes.

Everest: Beyond The Limit, 7.30pm ONE

This is season one of the Discovery Channel series that follows a 17 member production crew, 11 climbers, three guides, and a team of Sherpas up the formidable mountain. Double amputee, New Zealander Mark Inglis’ attempt to reach the summit is truly inspirational. Filmed with high altitude equipment and helmet mounted cameras worn by the Sherpas, the footage is spectacular, as is the series.

Private Practice, 10.30pm SEVEN

Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) heads home to Connecticut after last week’s heartbreak. Sam (Taye Diggs) and the gang decide to join her and re-encounter Addy’s brother Archer (Grant Show) who jumps in bed with one of the ladies. Sports stars and celebrity appearances will include Giaan Rooney, Kris Smith, Grant Hackett, Cal Wilson, Danny Green, Merrick Watts, Steven Bradbury, Jimeoin, Dermott Brereton, Billy Brownless and international comedians Mark Watson and Reginald D Hunter.

The quiz will test the participants’ sporting knowledge, but you certainly don’t need to be a sporting genius to play along at home.

Competitors will take part in Q&A segments with pictures, video clips, guessing games, special guest rounds, performance rounds and sporting challenges.

Each episode will feature guest appearances from sporting identities who will provide anecdotes from their careers. The teams will then be required to say whether the stories they’ve just heard are true or false.
