Big Brother

Everyone is up for eviction tonight. The numbers don’t look good for one person who has 51.5% of the vote. The other numbers range from 16.7% to 5.1% That’s pretty crazy. Who ever is left, it’s pretty close and any one’s game for the $250,000 prize.

The housemates believe that Cherry, Terri and Rory are the favourites based on the cheers in the crowd so if one of them go tonight, it will be a big shock.

The first person staying inside the Big Brother house tonight it Rory. The second person safe is Terri. Alice is also safe. The fourth person safe is Travis.

Jacqui O tells Cherry that he’s the next one leaving the house tonight.

The final vote was still over 50%.

Five remain. Voting lines are open

Big Brother welcomes Pamela Anderson back into the house. She has the photos from the photo shoot. Big Brother still loves her dress. He sends her into the house and says there is champagne waiting.

Pamela signs all the photos and then chat.

During their dinner, the housemates let Pamela Anderson in on one of their little games. Everytime someone says the word “mine” they have to drop and do ten push ups. As Pamela goes to leave, Cherry asks her whose glass that was. She says mine and she’s made to do 10 push ups.

Cherry gets his hat signed and says he’s going to give away to someone in the crowd.

Pamela leaves and there is a gift in the bedroom for them – a slumber party. The bedroom is filled with giant teddy bears/

The housemates admire their photos. They all really like Alice’s photos.

Cherry starts to flirt with Alice. A giant pillow fight breaks out but Ben misses out. He has to return to the yard but can take a teddy bear with him to keep him warm.

Travis asks Cherry whether he’d be with Brigitte when he leaves. He doesn’t think realistically that they’ll be boyfriend/girlfriend.

Cherry and Ben talk about kissing Pamela Anderson goodbye while Rory is getting is lettuce, gerkin and organic tofu salad lunch. He then takes a bite of Pizza but gets told off for eating last night’s party food.

Terri tells Cherry off for how he’s hung his clothes on the clothes horse. Rory starts to imitate her and starts to exaggerate things saying he can’t believe he can’t even do washing. Ben joins in. Rory starts raising his voice. They start mocking her pedantic behavior. It’s pretty funny.

There is a silent dancing party task. The last person dancing will win a special gift from home. They have a 3 mobile mp3 player and are dancing to 4 eighties music tunes while being blindfolder. Cherry steps off his disc and gets disqualified.

The silent dancing has been going for an hour and a half and Cherry is trying to sabotage their efforts. He has bought all the animals inside and has put onion pieces inside their water. That’s not enough though and Terri gets a half tin of tuna in her water.

Ben and Terri step off their discs and get disqualified. Terri had been dancing to no music for over 2 hours as she couldn’t get her player to work.

Alice is pretty competitive and they’re all sure that she’ll win.

After 5 hours, Alice, Rory and Travis are still dancing. Travis has a bottle of pumpkin water. Cherry says Travis looks more feminine than Alice. Travis drinks the water and doesn’t look happy at the taste.

Terri decides to join in on the fun and gets a bottle of water and a bucket and starts to pour it in. When she pours water into a glass, Alice takes it and throws it at her.

Travis then gets disqualified for standing stil and not dancing.

It’s been 10 hours and Rory and Alice are still dancing. Terri and Cherry are talking about who he fancied when he first came into the house. Terri says that if she had known that he had liked her then she might have pushed harder.

Big Brother gets bored and says that in the interest of their health and safety, he’s calling it a draw. They get their care packages and are pretty happy to receive them.

After eight successful seasons and 1316 episodes, TEN today announced that Big Brother will not be returning in 2009.

The 2008 season finale will air on Monday 21 July.

TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott, said: “Big Brother is the undisputed grand-daddy of modern, commercial reality television in Australia. Today’s reality dramas have all, on some level, been inspired by Big Brother.

“We are immensely proud of the show and the incredible success it has enjoyed since premiering in 2001.

“We’re ending the season on a high, largely thanks to the talents of Kyle and Jackie O who have presented yet another successful season.”

Mr Mott added that for millions of Big Brother fans who were glued to their screens each day, the show was like catching up with mates: it was entertaining, familiar and sometimes a little unpredictable. For many, it was also highly addictive.

“You just have to read the fan website to see how big and vocal the Big Brother community is,” he said.

Over the years, Big Brother has continued to deliver significant audience and share, especially in TEN’s core demographic, 18-49. The daily, eviction and nomination shows consistently occupied a place in the top programs week after week in 18-49.

Mr Mott acknowledged that the show attracted its fair share of controversy, and often generated robust debate. It instantly became Australia’s most talked about television program.

“Big Brother raised a number of issues which were meaningful and it highlighted some of the very real concerns of young people,” he said.

“The show has taken on topics of race, sex, homosexuality, eating disorders and alcohol abuse, many of which had been handled gingerly, if at all, on TV.”

Big Brother was more than TV. Fans who wanted access to Big Brother, any time anywhere, could do so via their TV, mobile or on the internet. It also provided a multifaceted platform for key sponsors who wanted a “surround-sound” advertising experience.

TEN’s chief executive officer, Grant Blackley, said: “Big Brother has been an important franchise for the network but we are confident this is the right decision at the right time for TEN.

“Importantly, as Big Brother represented up to 120 hours of TV, we now have an opportunity to further diversify our schedule with new, exciting and bold programs for viewers and advertisers.

“We are already in discussions and development with Australian content providers and we have a number of exciting prospects. We expect to announce these programs in the near term.

“We will also rely on our ever-expanding slate of programs from our two prolific US studios – 20th Century Fox and CBS Paramount.”

Mr Blackley thanked the hundreds of advertisers and committed sponsors who have contributed and benefited greatly from their involvement with Big Brother over this long history.

Mr Blackley also praised Endemol Southern Star (ESS) for their professionalism and innovative production which has kept the show fresh and appealing to viewers over the last eight years.

“Their commitment ensured the Big Brother brand made its way into homes across Australia,” he said.

Southern Star Group’s chief executive, Hugh Marks, said: “To the stars of the show, our housemates, and to the teams of talented and dedicated people who have put this show together every week, you have entertained, enthralled and even educated us. Our Big Brother is a stand-out adaption of this world-wide multimedia phenomenon that will continue for many years to entertain audiences around the world.”

Mr Mott acknowledged the enormous efforts of Big Brother hosts – past and present.

“Kyle and Jackie O have done an outstanding job fronting Big Brother this season. We look forward to seeing Kyle on Australian Idol soon and working with the pair on future projects.

“I’d also like to make special mention of Mike Goldman who has been there from day one with his voicing of every daily show and Friday, and over the years has also hosted Friday Night Live and Big Brother Up Late.

“To Bree Amer, Fitzy, Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson, thank you for keeping us entertained throughout the series.

“And, of course, a huge thank you to Gretel Killeen for her years of dedication to the show,” he said.

He also paid tribute to the entire production team from ESS and TEN.

“On air, the program ran like a well-oiled machine, yet behind the scenes, the team worked tirelessly 24 hours a day to bring Big Brother to our screens.

“I also want to thank our loyal Big Brother fans for their avid viewing and support throughout the years,” he said.

It’s Circus Night on Friday Night Live. Fitzy is pretty nervous about having Pamela Anderson on the show tonight.

All the housemates are dressed up as clowns. Tonight’s winner will receive a 42″ Plasma Screen from LG. Big Brother tells them that they’re all on their own tonight and are playing individually.

The first game is called pie face. The housemates have to tackle and obstacle course and then slam the pies into two clowns at the end of the course.

Terri was the slowest to complete the course in 1:05. The other scores were: Travis 0:31 – 1 point. Alice: 0:23 – 2 points. Ben: 0:21 – 3 points. Cherry: 0:20 – 4 points. Rory: 0:17 – 5 points.

The next game is Kissing Booth. Each housemate has to guess who kisses them while they are blind folded. Alice correctly guesses Terri. Ben correctly guesses Cherry by smelling his after shave. Cherry thinks it was Alice but it was Ben. Rory doesn’t guess Ben either. Terri correctly guesses Rory and Travis correctly guesses Cherry as well.

After this round, Alice, Ben, Terri and Travis each pick up 5 points.

Bianca gets to play a game with Mike called The Clotheshorse Challenge. When given the chance to throw one of two clotheshorses, she chooses the one associated with going to get a breast reduction and instead mistakenly gets an enlargement over a new intruder going into the house and Ben deciding to spoon her.

The next game is musical chairs. Each chair has a cream pie on it though. Terri is out first and gets nothing. Travis is out second and scores 1 point. Alice Scores 2 points. Rory is out next with 3 points. Cherry takes the 5 points with Ben being runner up with 4 points.

The next challenge is to escape from straight jackets. The faster you finish, the more points you get. If they don’t finish in time then they get slimed. Terri finishes first and scores 5. Alice scores 4.

After 4 games, Ben, Alice and Terri are through to the semi final. Cherry, Rory and Travis have a custard pie eating contest. The first person to finish goes through to the Semi Final. It looks like Cherry is going to win but Travis pips him at the post.

Brigitte wins Are You Smarter than Bree Amer

The next game is catching coloured balls from Clown’s mouths. Ben beats Alice in their face off by 13 to 11.

Pamela Anderson arrives and Fitzy and Mike are sitting very close to her while Bree is sitting at the other end of the table.

Travis thrashes Terri 23 to 7 and will face off against Ben in the final.

The final game is mini golf on speed. Ben races around the course and finished ahead of Travis by getting his ball in the hole first. Ben is pretty happy about his new 42″ Plasma TV.

Ben the Clown goes to the diary room where he receives his head of household armband. He wonders if winning means he’s allowed back inside. Short answer, no.

Pamela Anderson will be in the house in 10 minutes so they have to scrub up and have showers. He is even allowed to discard his bucket.

After the calendar shoot with Pamela, life has returned to normal with sunbaking and food the main priorities. Rory’s lunch is steamed vegetables with rice and pinenuts. Travis is the only one permitted to cook. Rory has to remind Travis that he’s not allowed any assistance or tips from any of the others. Terri isn’t happy.

Ben and Rory are in the Kombi talking about Travis and how he’s just a “help monkey”. They think Terri is like a mother figure for him and that he seems to need that in his life. Rory makes the observation of how much weight Terri has lost. Rory tests his theory about Travis being a “help monkey” and asks him to bring the sheep over. Travis asks why he wanted to bring the sheep over. Rory tells him that he just wanted to see if he would.

Despite constant warnings that she can’t help, Terri is in the kitchen. They decide to cook the steaks and Ben takes them off the BBQ. As they sit down, Big Brother calls Travis and Cherry to the diary room and asks them to bring all the food to the diary room. Everyone is furious. Everyone except Travis who still manages to find some good in the situation – that at least he’ll get to cook again.

Rory and Ben are again talking about Travis. Travis is wondering if Terri is upset with him. Rory says that it’s pretty obvious that Cherry is a player and he and Ben are glad that Alice and Terri saw his game with Brigitte.

Big Brother has a task for Ben and Travis – to dress Terri as an emo. Terri looks pretty funny and plays the part well.

Ben talks to Big Brother about his good behavior and whether he has earnt the right to go back into the house. Not yet.

Big Brother calls everyone to the diary room to tell them that they don’t need to nominate anyone as they’re all up for eviction.

After making her grand entrance into the Big Brother house, Pamela Anderson visited one of the stores of the shows major sponsors to protest KFC’s treatment of chickens.

The buxom 41 year old ambassador for animal welfare group PETA visited a Gold Coast outlet where she hand delivered a letter and accompanying video addressed to Albert Baladi, the managing director of KFC’s Australian parent company Yum! Restaurants International. The letter claimed that the fast food chain’s suppliers scald chickens to death in defeathering tanks.

The letter reads:

“I’ve been in Australia filming Big Brother House, in which my housemates and I are confined and sealed off from the outside world, much like the chickens who are crammed inside barns for KFC.”

“Fortunately, I won’t be stomped to death, have my legs broken or be scalded to death in a tank of hot water, yet as PETA’s undercover videos have revealed, the chickens raised for KFC’s restaurants in Australia often suffer these abuses.”

You can just imagine how happy the sponsors must be over all this extra publicity.

What do you think of the protest?

Celebrity has been the theme of this weeks task and with Pamela Anderson entering the house the housemates are in complete awe with the boys hardly believing their luck.

Over dinner, Pamela talks about her kids and life as a celebrity. She says that the key to being a celebrity is to pretend that they’re invisible because if you give them a look or reaction then the photo will be worth them a lot of money.

They talk about Baywatch, of course, and starring in Borat and how chaotic it was.

Pamela has some cards with some questions. She asks Ben what his pick up line on her in a bar would be. He says “Smile if you want to kiss me”. Travis’ ideal date would be riding through the city on his horse Thunder with cups of green cordial. His morning after txt would read “Gidday Pamela, you were so cool last night. Hope you had fun, talk to you soon”. Alice rates Travis as a kisser and thinks it was poor. Rory says he’s a bit of a bad boy who is good at it. Terri has to tell her story about what she did in the sand dunes when she was 17. Pamela thought it was illegal but then realises it isn’t in Australia. Cherry says he’s not afraid of commitment and that Brigitte wasn’t his girlfriend but instead they just made the most of a good situation.

Travis wants to know if Pamela is friends with Kelly Clarkson. She says she doesn’t watch American Idol.

Pamela is called out of the house but says she’ll be back in the morning. Ben says to call her. She promises she’ll be back.

After she has gone, the housemates buzz about what just happened. Ben hilariously says that while Brigitte got to meet “Kyle Sandilands” they got to meet Pamela Anderson. No comparison really.

Brigitte appears on the plasma screens with her message to her friends. She leaves her $25,000 to Alice after telling them that Eric was on the stage and that she didn’t regret saying anything she did in the house.

Brigitte can’t talk because she’s so sad and cries. She delivers her hand grenade and Rory gets told he’s to live on the most basic food and he’s not allowed to eat any more prepared meals. She’s on the outside eating like a princess while he’ll be inside eating like a pauper.

After Brigitte’s tearful farewell to Alice she heads to the diary room to talk about it. They really had become close during their time in the house and that was quite evident by the tears during the farewell message.

Rory is in the diary room saying he totally expected the hand grenade from him.

Cherry tells Big Brother that he’ll have to watch him tomorrow to see what moves he plays out on Pamela when she returns tomorrow.

Ben isn’t looking forward to spending another night in the kombi again tonight. The other housemates talk about their big day tomorrow. Rory says that in the past, he’s gone to bed dreaming about doing something with Pamela Anderson but tomorrow he will actually be doing something with Pamela Anderson. Surreal!

In the morning, Big Brother plays Hollywood themed movie music into the house to wake up the remaining housemates for their first big day with Pamela Anderson. Rory’s breakfast is in the diary room. It’s porridge and an apple but he’s not interested in the oaty slop.

Ben is complaining about how cold the kombi was. Everyone is excited about Pamela arriving and they get hair and makeup done.

The housemates head next door to meet Pamela. She wants to dress them in swimwear and roll them in sand, glitter and cooking spray. Rory puts on some tiny shorts and Pamela tells him to put a sock in it.

Travis is showing off his hairy bikeshorts. Pamela can’t believe what she’s seeing. She helps oil them up and then, with a photographer, starts shooting Rory.

Cherry and Ben’s shoots go well but they really have no idea what to do with Travis. Terri gets her photo in the pool and then Alice gets wrapped up in a giant fish net. Alice’s shoot is pretty good. Pamela then picks the best photo from each of the housemates before taking a final group shot. Travis reminds her that she knows where they live.

Tonight, one of the worlds most recognisable sex symbols will enter the house. They’ve handled the hand grenades, but how will they deal with this bombshell?

The voting percentages are pretty close. 28.5%, 25.1%, 22.1%, 18.2% and 6.1%.

Big Brother announces the changes once Cherry had saved himself. Brigitte and Alice join Rory, Terri and Ben and are all up for eviction tonight.

Pamela Anderson arrives to the screaming throng at Dreamworld and greets Kyle and Jacqui O.

Jacqui tells Pamela that Ben is frigid around women and doesn’t really know how to act around women and they want her to flirt outrageously with him.

Pamela gets a few introductions into the housemates before she is sent on her way back down the ramp and off to enter the house.

Terri and Alice are saved from the eviction. Leaving tonight though in a real shock is Brigitte who is screaming that she doesn’t want to go. She is really upset and cries her eyes out but in a flash, she is gone.

When Brigitte comes out she says she misses her friends. Kyle tells her not to worry because they have her boyfriend there. She looks confused.

The final vote was 29.7% to Brigitte with the next being 22.4% and 20.0%

Pamela Anderson is in the Diary Room getting a few last minute instructions from Big Brother. He is flirting with her big time! He warns her that the housemates may collapse in excitement when they meet her and hopes she has retained her life saving skills from Baywatch.

The camera’s start to click and she appears behind the window. They are split on whether that was her or not. They check out the photos and Big Brother calls Rory to the diary room. When he goes in he sees Pamela and is pretty excited. They take photos and then Cherry wants one with her. Pamela gets the house tour and when they learn that she’s staying for a few days they go ballistic.

Excitement galore. Alice is terrified that the house isn’t clean.

The banquet room is opened and immediately Pamela heads for the champagne. They toast Brigitte and the weekly dinner is on.

Here are the voting numbers

Ben and Brigitte are on paparazzi duty and are doing the dishes while they wait for the clicking cameras. They find Amy Winehouse in the window and Brigitte abuses her for looking ugly.

The vending machine has some interesting choices this week. There are 16 coins to be spent on a message from home for Terri or a hair treatment for Brigitte and Alice. Cherry gets to make the decision and Brigitte hopes that the message from home says that he’s leaving her.

Alice and Brigitte are disappointed when Cherry tells them that He chose Terri’s letter over their hair treatment. They are desperate to win Friday Night Live and beat Cherry so they can win a hair treatment.

Big Brother calls Brigitte and Alice to the diary room and offers them a deal. They can have their hair treatment if they give up the treadmill. They had originally said they’d do anything but on hearing what they’d have to give up they change their mind and leave dejected.

Rory gets called to the diary room for disrespecting Big Brother by helping in the kitchen after being told not to. He is told he has to obey Big Brother as it is his house.

Rory gets given a small bucket to wash himself with. Rory responds that it’s a dog bath.

Ben has been defiant to Big Brother ever since he was punished and uses the hose from the sink to wash himself as he does the dishes. Big Brother calls everyone to the house except Ben. When the door starts to come down, Ben runs underneath. Big Brother tells him he’s not invited inside and must remove himself immediately. Big Brother tells him to enjoy his night in the Kombi. Ben complains as he has no clothes. Big Brother isn’t sympathetic at all.

Terri has finished knitting Brigitte’s shorts and wonders if they’ll fit.

Ben is chanting around the back yard that he hates Big Brother and that he’s a dog. In the morning, he tells Ben that due to his constant disruption he is now going to live in the kombi until further notice.

It’s a cold, wet day and so everyone is hanging out in the bedroom. Brigitte and Alice start their paparazzi shift. Ben and Cherry talk about Brigitte. Alice is role playing again and asks Brigitte about “her job at the New York Times”. Brigitte isn’t interested though.

The flash bulbs start and the counter starts winding down. Again, Travis finds Matthew McConaughy and saves the day as Alice and Brigitte get to snap the celebrity just in time.

Yesterday, there was a celebrity look-a-like in the window who has been on Cherry’s mind. In the diary room, Cherry wants to know if they’ll see her again. Big Brother asks if that is all. Cherry asks for her number.

Travis makes a cake but when they pull it out of the oven and he takes a bite, he discovers something Rory put in his mixture… a chili. He’s not impressed and chases him around the house.

Rory asks Cherry if he’d be with Brigitte on the outside. Cherry says he’s not really into dating.

Travis and Terri are on Pararazzi duty. Johnny Depp is behind the window and they catch him just in time.

Alice is in the diary room talking about Cherry and Brigitte. She is a little disappointed that things didn’t work out between her and Cherry.

Rory and Brigitte are on paparazzi duty. While they wait for the flash bulbs, Brigitte is sculpting sand in the sand pit. Rory walks off and as they are joined together, drags her behind him. He is going to the bathroom and Brigitte is screaming to Big Brother for help as he’s going number two’s.

Ben wastes more water as he fills his bucket for his bath.

Ben and Rory are starting to sound really unsure about Cherry and whether he’s just playing.

Ben defies Big Brother and uses the outside shower. Big Brother calls him and Rory into the diary room and says that because he broke the rules, another housemate must conserve water. Rory isn’t happy when he’s told that it’s him.

Cherry and Brigitte end tonight’s daily show again with more kisses and cuddles under the covers and curse the next two weeks.
