Nine came out of Easter non-ratings hitting us hard with a record number of hours of reality TV as The Voice (Australia), The Block 2012 and Celebrity Apprentice’s second season all premiered in the same week, between April 15 and April 18, 2012.

The Block took over re-runs of The Big Bang Theory for Nine’s 7pm weekday timeslot, The Voice initially aired on three nights a week for the first few weeks, and Celebrity Apprentice aired on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Nine programming moves in mysterious ways – no doubt about that – as next week, The Voice will only play on one night, over two hours. The chosen night for a single airing of The Voice is … ?

Troubled actor Matthew Newton has been arrested and charged with the battery of a Miami hotel employee and resisting arrest, Seven Network reports.

According to a police officer on Nine News, Newton was under the influence of alcohol, as he was with his previous battery earlier this month.

To Sunday April 29. The Voice moves out of Sunday night, and The Block moves into the 6.30pm timeslot. 60 Minutes returns at 7.40pm, then it is new The Mentalist at 8.40pm and Unforgettable 9.40 (not another timeslot change). New Harry’s Law then follows at 10.35pm.

Monday April 30 has The Block at 7pm for just half an hour, with The Voice following at 7.30pm – Let the Battles Begin. 9.30pm is TBA, but possibly Big Bang repeats. Continue reading »

On Sunday April 22, The Voice will air for two hours (or more likely more) for the fourth Blind Audition episode. It will be followed by Beaconsfield at 8.30pm-ish (if recording, best beef up your PVR overrun – The Voice has a bad habit of going overtime). 60 Minutes is out for the week.

Monday April 23 sees The Block continue at 7 O’Block, followed by The Voice at 8pm. At 9.30 we get two Big Bang repeats (Syd/Bris/Adel/Per), followed by the season finale (and most likely last ever episode) of Alcatraz at 10.30pm. Alcatraz airs at 9.30pm in Melbourne. Continue reading »

What a week in TV – with so many shows to chose from and so much competition between Seven and Nine in particular.

Thankfully, both networks are giving viewers a second chance to see their hit shows of the week, with many encores over this weekend (April 20-22) and at other times. Ten are getting into the act as well, with an encore screening of Offspring this weekend. Continue reading »

Easter non-ratings for 2012 runs from April 1-14 this year, meaning many shows will be either off or in repeats during that time. But come the week after Easter non-ratings, and we a re set to be bombarded with choice for returning shows and premiering shows.

Throng has you covered for this whacky reality season.

On Sundays we will have Dancing with the Stars, The Voice and Biggest Loser until Masterchef.

Mondays will be The Voice, Australia’s Got Talent ,The Block and Celebrity Apprentice and either Loser or Masterchef

Tuesdays will be Australia’s Got Talent, Loser or Masterchef, Voice and The Block.

Wednesdays is Australia’s Got Talent, Loser or Masterchef, The Block and Celebrity Apprentice.

Thursdays are Masterchef or Loser, The Block and Celebrity Apprentice.

Fridays just have recap of The Block.

Courtney will recap ALL the shows, but for Australia’s Got Talent and The Voice which current writer Loz will do. You will know her from her Rafters and Home and Away recaps. I will do Dancing With the Stars and Australia’s Got Talent – expect some harsh comments and sarcastic humour!

Courtney therefore will be doing Loser/Masterchef, The Block, Celebrity Apprentice and later Australia’s Amazing Race. How unbelievable is that!

Throng has all the recaps for you – should you miss an episode and the greatest of thanks go to Courtney for her crazy love of reality TV and Loz!

If you love reality TV, then Nine will either become your new favourite channel or your nemesis as The Block, The Voice and Celebrity Apprentice all air over multiple nights on Nine from April 15.

If you are planning to watch The Voice, beware of the fact the show airs on three nights, with three different starting times and three different finishing times. No to mention the fact that we don’t know what will ultimately be the shows’ regular timeslots.

Other than those reality titles, new episodes of The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, Unforgettable and Top Gear air that week.

Sunday April 15
6.30 The Voice – Blind Auditions, Part 1
7.30 54th Annual TV Week Logie Awards
11.30 Kings of Comedy

Monday April 16
7.00 The Block 2012 – Elimination Night 1
8.00 The Voice – blind Auditions part 2
9.30 The Big Bang Theory rpt (NSW/QLD only)
10.00 The Big Bang Theory rpt (NSW/QLD only)
10.30 Alcatraz – Garrett Stillman NEW (9.30 in VIC) – This is the second last episode of Alcatraz.

Tuesday April 17
7.00 The Block 2012 – Elimination Night 2
7.30 The Voice (yep 7.30 for this night) – blind auditions part 3
9.00 The Big Bang Theory – NEW – The Transporter Malfunction
9.30 Top Gear – new
11.00 Kitchen Nightmares

Wednesday April 18
7.00 The Block 2012 – Elimination Night 3
8.00 Celebrity Apprentice Australia – season 2 premiere.
9.30 The Mentalist – new
10.30 Unforgettable – new
11.30 Weeds

Thursday April 19
7.00 The Block 2012 – Elimination Night 4
8.00 Celebrity Apprentice Australia
9.30 The Footy show

Friday April 20
7.00 The Block 2012 – week 1 recap episode
7.30 NRL (NSW/QLD) / Big Bang repeats (VIC)

Correct as at April 6. Subject to change. NSW, QLD and VIC only. Others check local guides closer to air dates.

Note also – regionals that air ACA at 7pm will have programming pushed back half an hour on weeknights with The Block at 7.30pm for example.

Another important fact to note is that reality on Nine almost NEVER finishes on time. Late finishes as long as 17 minutes past that advertised were observed last year for both The Block and Celebrity Apprentice, pushing all subsequent programming late without notice other than the EPG.

With two reality shows on Mondays to Thursdays, will Nine manage to have them finish on time, or will the combination of two late finishing reality shows result in subsequent programming being as late as half an hour behind what is shown in advanced guides?

Be aware – be very aware – set extra time on your PVRs and be flexible with when shows finish.

I can see the new episode of The Big Bang Theory scheduled for Tuesday night at 9pm not starting until something like 9.25pm. Really not a good timeslot for the show. We are now only two episodes behind the US – glad Nine managed to find a slot somewhere with all the reality on, but Tuesday after The Voice will mean many viewers will struggle with the timeslot, and ratings will suffer.
