Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t “After the Olympics” mean the time when the Olympics have completely finished – closing ceremony and all?

Nine are using “After the Olympics” to promote a number of shows at the moment. 60 Minutes is being advertised as returning after the Olympics, but, it will actually return on Sunday, February 28 at 7.30pm, after Domestic Blitz at 6.30pm.

Given that the closing ceremony of the Olympics is March 1, our time, the night of Feb 28 is not quite “After the Olympics”. Although, one could argue, that it is close enough given that the majority of the competition is over by then anyway.

That, however, cannot be said about Millionaire Wizz kids – a 2 hour show using the same format as the original “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” with school kids answering the questions in an attempt to win a million dollars for their school. Millionaire Wizz kids will air at 7.30pm, Saturday Feb 27, after Australia’s Funniest Home Videos which airs at 6.30pm Saturdays. It is currently being promoted as “After the Olympics”.

On Monday, March 1, Nine will play the closing ceremony of the winter Olympics live during the day, and replay it at night at 10.30pm. At 9.30pm, Monday March 1 on Nine is a new episode of CSI: Miami.

Definitely after the Olympics: Tuesday March 2 at 9.30 at this stage is “TBA”. It is the most likely timeslot for Survivor: Heroes and Villains.

Tuesday March 2, 7.30pm is a new ep of Top Gear. At 8.30, is a previously aired ep.

Wednesday March 3, sees new Cold Case at 9.30 and new Without a Trace at 10.30pm. Thursday March 4 at 9.30 will be a Mentalist repeat, following Adults Only 20-1 (why is it still on?) at 8.30pm. 10.30 maybe CSI: NY, but not sure on that one yet.

UPDATED: The TBA for Sunday Feb 28, 8.30pm is the telemovie “Wicked Love” – the story of Maria Korp, played by Rebecca Gibney.

Now, as I understand it based upon Channel 9 over hyping of CSI Miami’s season 7 finale was to increase the numbers watching it.

Where my disapproval lies is within this. The season was up to episode 19 by memory of a 25 episode season. I can understand that with Television it is all about ratings. But i cannot see any justification as to how Channel 9 can attempt to skip 6 episodes and think that the viewers would be none the wiser.

Obviously dedicated CSI Miami watchers would know as they would be regularly keeping updated as to what is happening in the US (as they are already into the next season of the show).

With only 6 episodes left, would it not just be common sense to let the season run its course? Then if they know the rating number is low, then cancel it as of the start of the next season and bring in something that would increase their popularity?

Also, as i understand it there are plans for the hit TV show to return in 2010, which completely baffles me? Why would you advise viewers of a finale which is not the finale, with view of continuing on next year? If you skip episodes then viewers may get confused as to what is going on.

I mean correct me if im wrong or if I have my facts wrong….

Channel Nine will be airing all three CSI’s involved in the CSI cross over that air in the US over three nights next week (Nov 9,11,12). Nine will show the three CSI’s in one big CSI night on Thursday November 19 from 8.30pm. This is despite the fact that both the New York and Miami CSI’s are not currently airing on Nine and are in fact many episodes behind those that will end up being shown on Thursday the 19th. Those episodes may be shown later by Nine.

First up at 8.30 is CSI: Miami in which Horatio calls Dr Ray Langston to come to Miami when a severed leg is found in the Everglades is found to belong to a girl who went missing in Las Vegas.

At 9.30, we go over to CSI: New York. In this one, Langston travels to New York when Detective Mac Taylor and his team identify a woman hidden in a big rig following an accident as someone he interviewed in Miami related to his missing person’s case. Langston and Mac uncover an interstate trucking ring that specialises in the transport of human cargo and black market organ harvesting.

Then at 10.30, it is back to Las Vegas where Langston’s continued search for the young girl taken hostage as part of the human trafficking operation leads him to investigate a prostitution ring in Las Vegas that the missing woman may be involved in.
