Detroit 1-8-7

Seven have made a number of schedule changes for next week, starting with the premiere of Wild Boys on Sunday September 4 at 7.30pm. Wild Boys replaces Highway Patrol and The Force that were airing at that time until last Sunday. Last night’s Highway Patrol even finished with “Next week on Highway Patrol…”.

The two shows have not been rescheduled at this stage, but are likely to turn up on one of the weekday 7.30pm timeslots left free when X Factor settles into a normal weekly routine.

At 9.30pm on Sunday is the season 3 finale of Castle.

Moving to Monday (September 5), and Suits drops back to the later time of 10.30pm permanently, with a repeat of Castle airing at 9.30pm. Teen Wolf 11.30pm.

No changes for Tuesday, but on Wednesday September 7, Law & Order: LA finds a new night and time at 9.30pm. Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour continues at 8.30pm that night.

Over to Thursday September 8, and Law & Order: LA remains at 9.30pm. That is followed by new series The Truth Behind… at 10.30pm – the first episode looks at Noah’s ark. The series puts the world’s most iconic myths and peculair phenomena to the scientific tests of today. Off The Map remains at 11.30pm.

Sunday September 11, sees Bones air in a double episode with a very typical channel Seven compile where a new episode is followed by a repeat seamlessly joined together in the hope that noone will notice.

The X Factor for its thrid week remains on four nights a week Monday to Thursday 7.30pm. Monday night September 12 is the 3rd Boot Camp episode, then the remaining three nights are “home visits” during which the contesntants of the top 24 travel the world meeting the four judges. The top 24 will be cut down to the top 12.

On Tuesday September 13, Seven will air the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant, held in Sao Paula Brazil from 10.30pm.

Detroit 1-8-7 has its final from 11.30pm, Wednesday September 14. Seven have done well to persist with this series, which initially aired at 9.30pm to low ratings.

Thursday September 15 remains same as September 8.

More Tennis for Seven, with the network airing the Davis Cup live from 11am Friday September 16. And of course, on that night, is the AFL finals at this stage, scheduled for 8.30pm, after Better Homes and Gardens. Please – make it live Seven?

A double helping of Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour this week, with Seven airing another episode tomorrow night (Thursday August 18) at 8.30pm instead of Pawn Stars which moves to 7mate.

Last week, Pawn Stars barely managed 500,000 in ratings. The show was originally planned to air on 7mate in any case, where it is more suited.

As a result, tonight’s programming has Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour at 8.30pm, Covert Affairs from 9.30 – 11.30, with Detroit 1-8-7 from 11.30pm.

Tomorrow night, Suspect Behaviour is at 8.30pm, with double Law & Order from 9.30pm and Off the Map from 11.30pm.

No word on subsequent weeks yet.

Seven have made a number of changes to their line up for next week.

The TBA on Monday August 22 at 7.30pm is a double episode of Border Security. Late night Monday sees a double How I Met Your Mother from 10.30pm, with Teen Wolf starting at 11.30pm.

Packed to the Rafters will return to Seven August 23, at 8.30pm, not August 30th as predicted. As a result, the season finale of Winners & Losers will air after Packed to the Rafters at 9.30pm. Dinner Date will not be seen that night.

Seven will also be replaying the six episodes that aired earlier this year, with three on Monday August 22 at midday, and the next three on Tuesday also at midday.

Onto Wednesday, and World’s Strictest Parents airs over a 90 minute special, finishing at 9pm. Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour and Covert Affairs move back half an hour to compensate. Covert Affairs is supposedly a double episode, but only goes for 90 minutes, while Detroit 1-8-7 at 11.30pm is half an hour only.

The week commencing August 28 is filled with TBA’s at 7.30pm Monday through to Thursday, suggesting that The X Factor will premiere at 7.30pm Monday August 29 with a 90 minute episode.

Dinner Date Australia returns on Tuesday night August 30, after Packed to the Rafters, while Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior will be a double episode on Wednesday August 31.

Seven will confirm timelsots for The X Factor probably as the date draws closer.

Seven have also started airing promos for Wild Boys, which suggests that show is set to air soon as well. As it is already known that Wild Boys will air on Sunday night, could Wild Boys premiere on Sunday September 4?

As the US ratings season for 2010/2011 draws to a close, US networks have been announcing the axing of numerous shows.

ABC (US) have axed Brothers and Sisters, which airs on Seven on Monday nights to a rather strong audience for that time. No Ordinary Family has also been given the chop – so far it has aired on Seven for just two weeks.

Not doing well here or in the US is Detroit 1-8-7. Here, Seven have pushed the gritty police series back to 10.30pm Wednesdays.

A show that has been pushed back so far into digital channels and extreme late night timeslots is The Event, from NBC. After failing to attract an audience early on Friday nights, it now airs at 1am Saturday nights on 7mate. The Event has now been axed – hopefully the series will have the chance to conclude, rather than leaving viewers with unanswered questions. And what of The Cape? Treated the same here by 7mate.

Next on the list is V. A series which already had its second season shortened by 3 episodes. At the end of the season, there are still unanswered questions. V aired on Nine, then on GO! who are currently replaying the first series after midnight Wednesday nights.

So far unaired, are Nine network acquisitions Mr Sunshine and Better With You. These two shows are now gone, so the chances are they will end up on GO! or Gem or on Nine during summer, if at all.

US network FOX have axed Lie to Me. On Ten, Lie to Me has been sliding in numbers so far in 2011, but that has not been helped by a raft of timeslot changes and generally inconsistent programming. In the US, falling ratings for its latest season drove the decision not to renew the show.

Other shows axed include Off The Map, Law and Order: Los Angeles, Outsourced and Perfect Couples, while Chuck – one thought definitely gone by a number of sources, will have one more season only.

1. No love for Mike & Molly on Nine.

Nine have dropped the new episode of Mike & Molly, scheduled to play at 8pm Monday for a repeat of The Big Bang Theory. This change is effective immediately, so it applies to next Monday, May 9. New Big Bang remains at 7.30pm Mondays on Nine. If Nine do not play out the new episodes of Mike & Molly, they will end up on GO!, which are already playing repeats.

2. White Collar not a repeat.

Sydney only: The scheduled episode of White Collar this Saturday May 7 iBigs no longer a repeat. Instead, a new episode called “Payback” will air.

4. Detroit 1-8-7 moves to 10-3-0

Seven have reacted to this weeks’ low ratings for the show, moving its start time back to 10.30pm from next Wednesday May 11. Its 9.30 timeslot will now be taken up with a Criminal Minds repeat episode. Note that the episode of Criminal Minds at 8.30pm remains as is new.

5. I Shouldn’t Be Alive isn’t on air.

As a result to the changes on Wednesday nights, with Detroit 1-8-7 at 10.30pm now, I shouldn’t Be Alive drops out of the schedule.

6. Friday Night movies on 7mate.

Note that Sydney and Brisbane still remain as TBA for Friday May 13 7.30pm – 10.30pm on 7mate.

7. Big encores on Nine.

David Attenborough’s Madagascar will encore on Nine at 3pm on Sunday in NSW & QLD, 4pm in VIC (and presumably SA & WA). It’s regular timeslot is Wednesdays 7.30pm.
