Today at the Sydney Opera House… I got there around 9.30am and met my friend who was already waiting for me. We stood around for awhile then some kids (I think they were a dance group) did the down under dance (oh god). There was a huge crowd of fans everywhere…. some with signs, two girls dressed up in unicorn onesies, others dressed in kangaroos.

ELLEN is bck. After a hiatus for summer in The States, th all dancing and lovable talk show host is back for Season 10. P!nk will be Ellen’s special guest and Grey’s Anatomy’s McDreamy – Patrick Dempsey will also appear. Ellen will premiere on Nine on Tuesday at midday and be shown on Foxtel’s Arena at 4pm.

Ellen DeGeneres will soon be producing a new talk show for Bethenny Frankel. She made the announcement on Friday during her talk show. Bethenny’s show is set to air later this year in the USA.

According to a report from RadarOnline, Ellen believes that Bethenny Frankel will speak to what she calls a ‘captive audience.’ She is proud and excited to be a big part of this upcoming project. Bethenny is ecstatic about the opportunity she has been given, too.

“I am so excited you have been so behind me for so long and so supportive and just so mellow,” Frankel said to Ellen. “You have been through so much in your life and had your own struggles and been the underdog and you kind of just took me under your wing and was like it’s going to happen. I have enjoyed working with you and I’m so excited.”

“You are going to be great because I think you talk about a lot of stuff that a lot of women can relate to,” Ellen said in reply.

This will be just one more project that Bethenny Frankel will probably touch and turn to gold. She reportedly made $55 million for the sale of her Skinnygirl Margarita Mix, according to Forbes. She also has a line of Skinnygirl wines all now available in Australia.

Coming up in September, Arena premieres the very latest seasons of hit series Project Runway and Top Chef, returning favourites Ellen and Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew, the second season of Models of the Runway as well as two new Arena-exclusive series from Bravo, Launch My Line and 9 By Design.

Project Runway, hosted by supermodel and fashion maven, Heidi Klum, gets back to its roots in New York city when it premieres September 13, Mondays at 8.30pm.

Season 7 sees judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia return to weigh in on the best and worst on the runway. Under the watchful eye of mentor, Tim Gunn, budding fashion designers compete for the opportunity to launch their careers in fashion.

Models of the Runway, hosted by Heidi Klum, returns for its second season on September 13, Mondays at 9.30pm. An exciting companion series to Project Runway, Models of the Runway gives fans a behind-the-scenes look at the reality competition from the models’ perspective.

When Top Chef season 7 premieres on September 12, Sundays at 7.30pm, 17 new contestants come to Washington D.C. for the ultimate power play to determine who has the chops to become ‘Top Chef’.

Padma Lakshmi returns as host, and is joined at the judges’ table by Tom Colocchio and Gail Simmons. Award winning chef Eric Ripert joins as a regular guest judge.

All-new to Arena is Launch My Line where celebrities will design, cut and stitch their way through a one-of-a-kind creative competition to determine who has the vision to go from icon to fashion star and launch a trendsetting clothing label.

Premiering September 8, Wednesdays at 8.30pm, the celebrity contestants will each be paired with a fashion expert, who will supply the technical know-how to implement the celebrity’s creative vision.

Another Arena premiere on September 14, Tuesdays at 9.30pm, is 9 By Design. The series follows husband and wife design team, Bob and Cortney Novogratz and their seven children. Owners of New York based design firm, Sixx Design, this young, hip and artsy couple have developed and designed unique properties in Manhattan, rebuilt entire blocks in the city, and turned funky into fabulous with taste and confidence.

Viewer favourite Ghost Whisperer also joins Arena’s weekday afternoon line-up, starting with the very first episode on September 13 at 5.00pm. Newlywed Melinda Gordon (Jennifer Love Hewitt) discovers her unique ability to communicate with the earthbound spirits of people who have died and need her help.

Bear Grylls in Australia

British survival expert Bear Grylls is currently shooting a new episode of Man Vs Wild on Murray Island off the coast of Australia. The episode is one of two to be filmed down under with no word yet as to where the other location will be. Grylls will be swimming in crocodile-infested waters and scaling rock-faces during his time on Murray Island.

Lie To Me renewed

Lie To Me’s American network has renewed the drama series for another season. The series, which stars Tim Roth as genius psychologist Dr. Cal Lightman, will continue for a third season despite losing its showrunner Shawn Ryan earlier in the week.

John Grisham novel heading to TV

John Grisham’s novel The Firm is being developed into a TV series. The series has been pitched to US networks NBC, FOX, FX, A&E and TNT and is expected to get picked up. It will be only the third Grisham novel to make it to TV while seven have been turned into movies.

Coro in HD

Long-running English soap Coronation Street is finally entering the High Definition era with its British broadcaster ITV confirming the series will be shot in HD. The news comes ahead of the soap’s 50th birthday this coming December.

Sarah Silverman canned

Comedy Central has canned comedian Sarah Silverman’s s show The Sarah Silverman Program. The show barely managed to gain a third season last year and although a spirited Twitter campaign backed another season this year, the network has decided to end its run for good. Silverman will now concentrate on promoting her autobiography The Bedwetter.

Sam Neill’s series pulled

Kiwi Sam Neill’s new American TV show has been pulled by ABC following only two episodes. Neill stars in the show entitled Happy Town which centres on a small Minnesota town where several kidnappings have taken place. Word is the network will run the show during the American summer when there are less viewers.

Trinny and Susannah’s new web series

Style gurus Trinny and Susannah are launching their own online reality show. The show is said to be along the line of Curb Your Enthusiasm and will be both entertaining and revealing, according to the pair.  The show, which is partially funded by shopping mall empire Westfield, will screen on the website iVillage and will comprise of 16-minute episodes.

8 nominations for Ellen

TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres has received 8 nominations for the Daytime Emmy Awards announced earlier today. Her show is up for the major Outstanding Talk Show/Entertainment award but not Best Talk Show Host as the host decided not to submit herself for that, joking her “steroid use gives [her] an unfair advantage.”

Charlie Sheen

The only thing larger than the worldwide audience for American sitcom Two and a Half Men is the size of Charlie Sheen’s pay cheque for the show. TMZ is reporting that the actor stands to earn between $60-100m for the next two years should he continue work on the sitcom. Comparatively, co-star Jon Cryer will earn a meagre $20m.

Channel 9 has again changed their Tuesday night line up after the worst performance this year on a Tuesday night so far. This week, Tuesday night (August 4) is as follows: at 7.30 is 20-1, which is followed by a double episode of Two and a Half Men at 8.30. Then after that, is Commercial Breakdown at 9.30, followed by Ramsays’ kitchen Nightmares at 10.15.

On Sunday August 2, the last Random Acts of Kindness Airs. That will be replaced by the return of Domestic Blitz at 6.30, August 9. Also on Sunday August 2, 9’s new locally produced police drama Rescue Special Ops airs at 8.30.

On Wednesday August 12th, 9’s factual series on organ donation called the Gift returns at 9pm. RPA is still on at 8.30 but drops back to being a half hour show.

The new series Drop Dead Diva will have a split premiere. In Sydney and Brisbane, the show starts at 9.30 on Monday August 3rd. In AFL markets (Vic, SA, and WA), the show will be held over a week so as not to clash with 7’s finale of Brothers and Sisters, one week behind in those states due to a Monday night AFL game a little while ago.

Farmer Wants a Wife returns Monday Aug 3 at 8.30pm.

GO starts Sunday August 9 at 6.30pm on digital channel 99 (NBN its 88, Win 80).

9HD has cut down breakaways in the lead up to GO. The daytime breakaway ceases this week, meaning that the View, Ellen and ET can all be seen in HD. 9HD break away shows will all be seen on GO in any case. It is yet to be seen if there will actually be any more 9HD break aways once GO is up and running. At least all shows on 9 main made in HD will be seen in HD.
