Getaway, Australia’s longest running lifestyle program, is back, celebrating its 21st season in 2012 and exploring the best destinations at home and abroad.

In the first program of the year at 5.30pm this Saturday on Channel Nine, Catriona Rowntree, Dermott Brereton, Kelly Landry, Jules Lund, Jason Dundas and special guest Sophie Monk will share great holiday ideas and weekend getaways.

Catriona, Jason and Kelly go in search of romantic weekend escapes. Jason travels an hour and a half from Sydney, finding a perfect getaway for couples in the Blue Mountains, and Catriona discovers an adults-only retreat offering beachfront luxury on Hamilton Island.

Kelly travels down the Sunshine Coast waterways on a gondola, finding a piece of Venice right here in Australia which offers a unique romantic experience for couples.

Special guest Sophie Monk heads to Hawaii to get up close with monk seals at Sea Life Park. This isn’t your average animal park – the marine refuge is designed with reefs, lagoons and pools, plus attractions and activities for the whole family. Dermott also heads overseas to uncover the shopping secrets of Singapore.

Back home, Jules gets behind the steering wheel and tests out the Indian Ocean coast drive linking Perth’s northern suburbs with coastal towns and tourist destinations.

Grab your passport, pack your suitcase and get ready to travel when Getaway returns to Nine on Saturday, February 18, at 5.30pm.

The Ultimate Fighter 12 sees lightweight hopefuls compete for the ultimate prize – a contract with the UFC. Coaches this season are Georges St-Pierre and the man everybody loves to hate Josh Koscheck.

The Ultimate Fighter, GO!, 11.30pm
The reality show where 14 mixed martial artists live and train together while competing for a pro contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship organisation.

Dermott visits Singapore’s new multi-billion dollar playground Sentosa Island, whilst Jules takes a tour looking at a little seen side of the Gold Coast.

Also, great day trips under two hours from Perth and Brisbane and a scenic cruise along the great rivers of Europe.

8:00pm – Thursday, June 9 on Channel Nine

Jules travels to the incredible lost Incan city of Machu Picchu in the Peruvian Andes on the 100th anniversary of its re-discovery. Part of the adventure is taking one of the world’s great rail journeys to get there.

Jason tours the hippest street in Auckland whilst Kate Ceberano returns to the Philippines where her father grew up.

Channel Nine announced this afternoon its long-running lifestyle program, GETAWAY, will move permanently to Saturday evenings at 5.30pm leading into Nine News. 

Channel Nine’s Managing Director Jeffrey Browne said: “Getaway is a great Channel Nine brand which remains important to the network and its advertisers. The new timeslot recognises the shift in multi-channel viewing during the week and provides a great lead-in for our Saturday evening News bulletin, as we have seen over recent weeks when we have trialled the new timeslot.”

Due to the new half-hour format, a few full-time production staff positions will become redundant, however all the current reporters will remain with the show.

The Getaway team travels across Asia to find the best holiday experiences.

Natalie presents the top five things to do in Bangkok, Dermott shows how to get the most out of 48 hours in Hong Kong and Jason visits the amazing Borobodur Temple in Java, Indonesia.

Kelly travels to Vietnam’s hottest new travel destination, the mountain town of Sapa, plus the best of shopping from Shanghai and Singapore.

Doctor Who, ABC1, 7.30pm.

The Doctor is back for a new series. Four envelopes each containing a date, time and map reference, unsigned, but TARDIS blue. Who sent them? And who received the missing number one?

Getaway, Nine, 7.30pm.

It’s been aired a few times in recent years on Ten, but is still a good movie to catch up with.
