Ricky Gervais has confirmed that he has no intention of hosting the Golden Globes again following his highly-publicised second outing this week.

Gervai tore into various Hollywood celebrities during this year’s awards, which led to much backlash in the press over his offensive comments.

“I’m not going to do it again,” Gervais told TMZ. “I think twice is enough.”

Several of those who Gervais had targeted during his performance hit back, including Robert Downey Jr. who called the ceremony’s vibe “mean-spirited”.

Ricky Gervais took aim at several big-name actors and actresses during the Golden Globe Awards yesterday, with many saying he went too far.

The comedian lined up the likes of Robert Downey Jr. Charlie Sheen, Johnny Depp and Scarlett Johansson during his performance and received a mixed reception from the crowd.

He was particularly scathing of the Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie film The Tourist as well as Charlie Sheen’s recent hotel room indiscretions.

Among other jokes, he referred to Bruce Willis as “Ashton Kutcher’s dad” and to Robert Downey Jr.’s movies Iron Man, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and Two Guys and a Girl as “porn films”.

Many of those in attendance disagreed with Gervais’ sense of humour but he did have a fan in award-winner Al Pacino, who praised the Brit for his performance.

“He’s a comic, so he’s going to go for it. He’s letting it go. The only thing he can really get to is his own wit,” Pacino said afterwards.

“You don’t know what they’re going to say! I think it’s worth it.”

We May have missed out on any film nominations with Nicole Kidman in the film NINE being snubbed, but have some great chances on the television front. Simon Baker has been nominated as best actor in a drama for “The Mentalist”. But it’s the women leading the way with Rose Byrne (Damages), Toni Collette (United States of Tara) and across the Tasman Seas Anna Paquin nominated in 2 categories. Anna is up for best Actress in a drama (True Blood) and Best Actress in a Mini series for “The Courageous Heart Of Irena.

As usual 30 Rock is a front runner, but Glee and the new show Big Love are the new surprises this year. Best Actresses in a Drama Toni Collette, Courtney Cox and Edie Falco though did not see there shows nominated with only Lea Michele (Glee) and Tina Fey (30 Rock) doing so While Simon Baker was the only actor in a Drama not to have his show nominated. Guess that shows our Aussie acting power.

Foxtel was a winner with Entourage, 30 Rock, True Blood and Dexter getting several nominations. But the biggest winner was Channel Ten with Glee, Californication, Nurse Jackie, The Office and Dexter as well, romping in the nominations. Channel 7 had Lost, 30 Rock and How I met Your Mother , while poor Channel 9 only had one nomination for Baker in The Mentalist. See all the action on January 18th at 12 midday on FOX8.
