Grey’s Anatomy

8:30pm – Thursday, March 15 on Seven

- LEE MAJORS AND MARILU HENNER GUEST STAR

This week on GREY’S ANATOMY, with her hands tied, Meredith struggles to help the other doctors while staying within her boundaries.

After being blackballed by most of the surgeons, Meredith uses Lexie to spark Derek’s interest in her patient’s rare brain tumour case and, in secret, gives guidance to April with Bailey’s clinical trial.

Callie’s wish for Arizona and Mark to form a friendship comes to fruition and she realises it’s more irritating than helpful; Alex and Teddy research alternative surgeries for a very superficial patient; and Callie and Cristina struggle with a very difficult spinal surgery.

8:30pm – Thursday, March 8 on Seven

- DEBBIE ALLEN GUEST STARS

This week on GREY’S ANATOMY, Jackson’s mother, Catherine Avery, arrives at Seattle Grace to make medical history.

The residents try their hardest to impress surgical great Catherine Avery, who also happens to be Jackson’s mum, when she arrives at Seattle Grace to perform a ground-breaking transplant surgery.

Arizona and Alex find their hands tied with a confidentiality issue when a familiar patient comes into the ER.

Meanwhile, a love-struck Teddy throws a dinner party for the couples, and Bailey makes a decision regarding her love life.

GREY’S ANATOMY stars ELLEN POMPEO as Meredith Grey, PATRICK DEMPSEY as Derek Shepherd, SANDRA OH as Cristina Yang, JUSTIN CHAMBERS as Alex Karev, CHANDRA WILSON as Miranda Bailey, JAMES PICKENS, JR as Richard Webber, SARA RAMIREZ as Callie Torres, ERIC DANE as Mark Sloan, CHYLER LEIGH as Lexie Grey, KEVIN McKIDD as Owen, JESSICA CAPSHAW as Dr Arizona Robbins, KIM RAVER as Teddy Altman, JESSE WILLIAMS as Jackson Avery and SARAH DREW as April Kepner.

Grey’s Anatomy boss Shonda Rhimes has confirmed what was pretty much expected – Izzie Stevens, Katherine Heigl’s charachter will not be returning to the show.

After actress Ellen Pompeo was on Chelsea Lately last week she laughed and said “No, I don’t think that’s happening,” when asked about the prospect of her former co-star returning to the series.

Creator Rhimes was even more definitive about a possible Izzie comeback.

“We are on a track we have been planning, and the idea of changing that track is not something we are interested in right now,” Rhimes tells TV Guide Magazine, adding that it’s “really nice to hear [Heigl] appreciating the show.”

In January, Katherine told E! Online: “I’ve told them I want to [return]. I don’t know … Being a showrunner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that, I mean, she’s got how many characters are there now? There’s a lot and so she’s balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don’t know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes.”

8:30pm – Thursday, March 1 on Seven

This week on GREY’S ANATOMY, it’s all about the men of Seattle Grace.

The doctors of Seattle Grace are called upon to man up when a stampede at a comic book convention causes an influx of colourful characters in the ER-blurring the lines of fantasy and reality.

Mark shows his softer side with baby Sofia when Arizona and Callie go out of town, but at work he continues to give Jackson a hard time. Ben returns to the ER, only to find that Nurse Eli has moved in on Bailey. And the male doctors bond over their frustrations with women, on a special all-boys episode.

GREY’S ANATOMY stars ELLEN POMPEO as Meredith Grey, PATRICK DEMPSEY as Derek Shepherd, SANDRA OH as Cristina Yang, JUSTIN CHAMBERS as Alex Karev, CHANDRA WILSON as Miranda Bailey, JAMES PICKENS, JR as Richard Webber, SARA RAMIREZ as Callie Torres, ERIC DANE as Mark Sloan, CHYLER LEIGH as Lexie Grey, KEVIN McKIDD as Owen, JESSICA CAPSHAW as Dr Arizona Robbins, KIM RAVER as Teddy Altman, JESSE WILLIAMS as Jackson Avery and SARAH DREW as April Kepner.

8:30pm – Thursday, February 23 on Seven

This week on GREY’S ANATOMY, the 5th year residents are tested in their first solo surgeries.

The Chief makes a career-changing decision that shocks Seattle Grace Hospital; Cristina and Owen try to find normalcy in their relationship; April continues to struggle in her new role; and the 5th year residents are given their first solo surgeries, only to find out that even the most routine procedures aren’t always easy.

GREY’S ANATOMY stars ELLEN POMPEO as Meredith Grey, PATRICK DEMPSEY as Derek Shepherd, SANDRA OH as Cristina Yang, JUSTIN CHAMBERS as Alex Karev, CHANDRA WILSON as Miranda Bailey, JAMES PICKENS, JR as Richard Webber, SARA RAMIREZ as Callie Torres, ERIC DANE as Mark Sloan, CHYLER LEIGH as Lexie Grey, KEVIN McKIDD as Owen, JESSICA CAPSHAW as Dr Arizona Robbins, KIM RAVER as Teddy Altman, JESSE WILLIAMS as Jackson Avery and SARAH DREW as April Kepner.

Thursday night – the last weeknight of the week – seems to be the night that features all the long running series – those that have been on TV for years – including Grey’s Anatomy in its 8th season, Desperate Housewives in its 8th and final season and Private Practice season 5. All on Seven – then there is 30 Rock taking you right up to midnight – one of those critically acclaimed shows that has never been given a real chance earlier in the night.

Nine kept a week of double episodes alive with double CSI – now in its 12th season, followed by new CSI: NY hanging in there on Nine still, after new episodes last year were played on GEM on Saturday nights. Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU – season 13 [updated] – is Ten’s Thursday night mainstay.

Another classic episode of My Kitchen Rules last night (recap here) – with a new twist – an elimination round of more instant kitchens coming up over the next 6 episodes – who wants to guess which team will be eliminated? If those Victorians from the first group – Thomas & Carla – make another purple dessert, it could well be them!

Here’s an idea for a twist for season 4 – as each season they have to do something different – right? Mix up the bottom teams after the first instant restaurant rounds. Imagine Princess paired with Peter or Gary?!

Biggest Loser saw contestants having to run up a 60m hill of sand in their latest challenge (read more here) – it is hard enough walking on sand at the best of times, let alone up a hill in a competition environment. But note how easy it was for the trainers though. Like Leigh Westren last year, I think Hamish will hit a turning point and be one of the more successful contestants of this season.

Nine last night premiered Earth Flight – every time I flicked past it I saw birds flying. Oh – wait – that’s essentially what the show was about wasn’t it? Its one of those highly visual shows that would look mad in HD – I’ll wait for a reply on GEM for that one! Additional sound effects and 7.1 surround sound provided by the neighbours’ new budgie.

On ABC1 its The Straits is the only Australian drama offering for the night – well other than MKR which is becoming like a drama this season.

If there was one channel to leave on in the background last night, for me it was GO! They replayed 2 Broke Girls at 8, followed by two classic Big Bang episodes, then the classic 80′s movie Ferris Bueller’s Day off - so many lines and memories from that movie. GEM aired the movie Birdcage – not a fan of that movie.

7TWO had more Frost than you could poke a stick at with over two hours of hit British series A Touch Of Frost while 7mate was all about Swamp People, more Pawn Stars – which seems to be sneaking into their schedule on more and more nights lately and American Pickers – also on more than once a week now.

Speaking of 7mate – looking at the schedule for new Foxtel channel A&E I can’t help feeling this is Foxtel’s attempt to grab some of 7mate’s (and also ONE’s for that matter) blokey documentary audience. Even the fact the channel number is 607 may not be purely coincidental.

I am now officially going to put a call out to anyone who watches or drives up their phone bill by contributing to Psychic Live & Interactive – as seen on TV 4ME and Aurura and sometimes even on GEM. Just one question: Why?

Twas American Idol night on FOX8, with two hours of continuing Hollywood Week (part 3) – ” where some dreams will come true and others will come to an end.” It continues tonight. Meanwhile, showcase is replaying the complete series of Tangle – a brilliant Aussie drama – in the lead up to its season three premiere soon.

What did you watch last night, what did you enjoy, like, dislike, what would you recommend, advise against or generally just talk about? Let us know!

8:30pm – Thursday, February 16 on Seven

This week on GREY’S ANATOMY, news of Meredith and Derek’s unsteady relationship raises a red flag for Zola’s adoption counsellor.

Also, Alex quickly realises that he has become the outcast of the group after ratting out Meredith; Cristina makes a tough decision regarding her unexpected pregnanc, and Chief Webber brings Henry in for a last minute surgery, alarming Teddy.

GREY’S ANATOMY stars ELLEN POMPEO as Meredith Grey, PATRICK DEMPSEY as Derek Shepherd, SANDRA OH as Cristina Yang, JUSTIN CHAMBERS as Alex Karev, CHANDRA WILSON as Miranda Bailey, JAMES PICKENS, JR as Richard Webber, SARA RAMIREZ as Callie Torres, ERIC DANE as Mark Sloan, CHYLER LEIGH as Lexie Grey, KEVIN McKIDD as Owen, JESSICA CAPSHAW as Dr Arizona Robbins, KIM RAVER as Teddy Altman, JESSE WILLIAMS as Jackson Avery and SARAH DREW as April Kepner.

Katherine Heigl wants to return to ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. Although the ‘The Ugly Truth’ star left the show in a storm of controversy in 2010 after criticising her character Izzie Stevens, the Emmy winning actress admitted she has already told creator Shonda Rhimes, that she is keen to return to the medical drama, though she is unsure if it will be possible.

Katherine told E!

The 33-year-old actress revealed the main reason she hopes to return is so she can discover Izzie’s fate as the surgeon was last seen leaving the fictional Seattle Grace Hospital after husband Alex ended their relationship.

She said: “I really, really, really want to see where [Izzie] is. I just want to know what happened to her and where she went and what she’s doing now.”

“My idea is that she actually like figures it out, and finds some success and does really well in a different hospital. She was always floundering you know, and so she was always one step behind the eight ball and I want to see that girl take some power back.”

Or maybe she realises her movie career has tanked! How many people who have left Grey’s do we hear of now? And do fan’s actually want her back?

Her time on “Grey’s” was controversial and contentious — she spoke out against co-star Isaiah Washington when he used a homophobic slur against T.R. Knight, she publicly complained about the quality of the material written for her character, and she made a fuss about long hours during a “Letterman” appearance (it was later revealed the hours had been extended at her own request).
