Grey’s Anatomy

A real life Grey’s Anatomy following the dramas and romances of seven junior doctors, complete with its own Dr McSteamy, is being filmed at a NSW hospital.

The eight part documentary Young Doctors is in its final month of filming at Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital and is expected to air on Nine later this year.

It follwos the doctors, all aged in their 20s, as they embark on their careers.

The series’ Dr McSteamy is second-year surgical resident Rory Gleadhill, aged 27, who emigrated from Ireland with his family nine years ago.

His picture has become the screen saver of some of his female colleges. Rory passes it off “as having the piss taken out of him, and does not know who statted the McSteamy nickname.

Also in the series are Doctors Kate Haggar and Collunda Launeke.

Grey’s Anantomy SPOILER ALERT!!

DO NOT READ IF YOU DON”T WANT TO KNOW HOW SEASON 8 WILL START

Ok, if you are sure,

When we left Seattle Grace, Meredith was left holding the baby – literally, after she tampered with Derek’s Alzheimer’s trial ( but to help out The Chief’s wife,  Adele).

In the season 8 promo that can be viewed below, you see Meredith get her penance. We see The Chief, fire her. After all she did for him – but rules are rules I guess. It’s the board’s decision – but did they Izzy when the whole Denny debacle happend? NO!

We also see how the other staff handle the situation, especially with Alex Karev, as he is the one who ratted Meredith out! We see Christina hit him and Arizona tell him how much he is hated.

There is also two of Seattle Grace’s favourites that we see fall into bed – but is really no suprise. It’s Jackson and Lexie!

You see Christina wanting to be a surgeon and not a mother, which is sure to be a struggle.

Grey’s Anatomy will air on 7 in 2012. Enjoy!

Since the contracts of many of its original cast members are set to expire in May, Grey’s Anatomy could well play out its most suspenseful story off screen this season — potentially its last.

Whether the actors stay or leave, and whether creator Shondra Rhimes or ABC call it a day, Justin Chambers who has played Alex Karev from the start, is keenly aware that there is no turning back.

“It makes me sad to know that we’re closer to the end [than the beginning],] it’s been a great ride. It really has. There was no better job that I could’ve fallen into.”

Like Patrick Dempsey and Ellen Pompeo, Chambers is undecided about whether he’ll re-sign for another season, even if there does turn out to be a series with which to re-sign. “I don’t know if I’ll go farther,” he insists. “I don’t know if the show will go farther. When we get to that point, we’ll go from there…

“We know it’s going to end sooner or later,” he continues. “It’s just about ending well and the audience getting what they want out of it, and maybe there are some amends made with the characters, because they’re very flawed.”

If he and his fellow MDs don’t climb on board for another year, Chambers is skeptical about the chances of Grey’s‘ survival. “It’s possible [it could go on], but I doubt it,” he says. “Meredith is the voice. We need that voice — I do think that. That’s a big part of it.”

For her part, series creator Shonda Rhimes remains confident the show will return for a ninth season. “I don’t presume to speak for the studio or the network,” she says, “but I don’t think this is the last season of the show.”

Neither does ABC president Paul Lee. Although this week he announced that Desperate Housewives would end after its eighth season, he’s far from ready to set an end date to Grey’s. “Hopefully, [it] is going to go on for many, many years to come,” he says, shrugging off any concern about his stars’ contracts expiring. ”We don’t have to face that for some time.”

In the meantime, the show has another milestone to mark. The second hour of its  season premiere is its 150th episode. “It seems like the 100th just came up,” Chambers admits. “Maybe we will go to 200. You never know.”

Grey’s premiere to follow on from finale

Grey’s Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has confirmed that the eighth season premiere will pick up just days after the finale of season seven. “We only pick up five days after the finale ended,” Rhimes told TV Line. “We pick up pretty much where we left off.”

Baldwin lands Hawaii Five-0 role

William Baldwin has signed on to feature in a multi-episode arc in Hawaii Five-0 where he will play a homicide detective who was forced to leave the force after accusations of corruption.

Glee actor replaces Daniel Radcliffe

Glee actor Darren Criss will replace Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe in the Broadway production of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Michalka to guest on CSI: NY

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga is to join the ladies of The View as a co-host tomorrow. The very liberal and open Gaga should be an interesting match against the ultra conservative Elisabeth Hasselbeck. Gaga will also perform songs from “Born This Way” on the show. The View airs at 10.20am on W and 1pm on channel 9.

T.R Knight returns to the small screen

T.R. Knight has got his first TV role since famously parting ways with Grey’s Anatomy in 2009, and it’s a definite departure from the loveable George O’Malley.

Knight will guest-star on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU, playing a suspected serial rapist. Knight’s episode is currently in production.

Since negotiating his exit from Grey’s two years ago — following much backstage tension after co-star Isaiah Washington directed an anti-gay slur at him and was consequently fired— Knight has focused on stage work.

Rosie O’Donnell is back!

After a nine-year absence, Rosie O’Donnell is heading back to daytime television with her new show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, on Oprah’s network. The series is to be filmed on the same stage as Oprah’s iconic show. No word yet if OWN is to hit our shores anytime soon.

Star Magazine has reported that Grey’s Anatomy star Eric Dane has checked himself into rehab in West Los Angeles in Mid-June.

The star who’s wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and himself are expecting a second child, decided to enter The Hills Treatment Centre after finding that things were ‘spiralling out of control’, making the move as a ‘preventative measure’.

A family friend has stated that with the upcoming filming of the next season of Grey’s Anatomy and the birth of his second child, the actor who has also appeared in movies such as Burlesque and Marley and Me, has too much to lose if ‘he slipped’.

Dane is also famous for a sex tape involving him, his wife and Playboy model Kari Ann Peniche.

How I Met Your Mother
Kal Penn, from House is set to join the cast of How I Met Your Mother this season as a love intrest for Robin. Penn left House to work in the Obama administration as an associate director in public liason. Penn’s arrival of course reunites him with Neil Patrick Harris, who played, well, “Neil Patrick Harris” to his Kumar in the Harold & Kumar films.
HIMYM exec producer Craig Thomas strongly hinted to TVLine in May that Robin would jump back into the dating scene, especially now that her maybe-soul mate Barney had moved on with Nora: “Robin didn’t do a hell of a lot of dating at all [last season]; she was more [immersed in] switching careers,” he said. “Now, Robin, who’s single and is looking forward a little bit, can’t help but wonder if what happened between her and Barney could have been something more had they been more ready.”
Barney growing up a bit via Nora “has not gone unnoticed by Robin, who did not have a serious love interest this past year. She’s definitely going to have to wrestle with that at the start of Season 7.”

Teen Wolf
Teen Wolf has been picked up for a second season by MTV in the United States. Airing here on Channel Seven at 10.30pm on Mondays – it has not had the same success here as it has there, even though reviews were posotive for the show that was a mild spin-off of the 1980′s film. Maybe a move to digital would be better for the teen targeted show.

Being Human
Being Human that debuted on Eleven earlier this month has also been picked up for a second season. It airs Mondays at 9.30pm.

House
In other House news, Aussie Jesse Spencer has signed on for Season 8 of the medical drama. The producers were apparently desperate to keep him after the departure of Lisa Edelstein who is heading to “The Good Wife”.

Grey’s Anatomy
Even if Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey decide to leave the show at the end of this season, creator Shondra Rhimes says the show will still go on. “Just for the record: This is not the last season of [Grey's Anatomy],” Rhimes avowed on Twitter Wednesday, in response to a handful of followers suggesting it was. To underscore her resolve, she added: “Definitely. Not.” She later added that she hopes that Pompeo and Dempsey will stay on and that no new cast members will be added this season.

Castle
Penny Johnson Jerald, known as the wife of President Palmers wife on 24 (One, Mondays at 8.30pm) is to join the set of Castle as Captain Victoria Gates. Gates will be a no nonsense Internal Affairs investigator who clashes with Castle. Jerald replaces Ruben Santiago-Hudson, who played Captain Roy Montgomery. astle airs on Seven on Sundays.

In the final episode, Lyndey times Blair as he runs the length of the original ancient stadium of Olympia. Next the pair taste wine from Refosco grapes at Mercouri Winery and then cook lamb stuffed with traditional trachanas. More cooking and eating is followed at Aldemar Restaurant – where they are treated to peppers stuffed with fetta and graviera.

Leaky Boat, ABC1, 8.30pm
When Australia stopped the refugee boats in 2001, most Australians applauded. Ten years later, the people who were there tell us what we didn’t then know.

Private Practice, Seven, 10.30
The doctors of Oceanside Wellness are faced with a tough decision in tonights final – to point out all areas of vulnerability and risk the termination of some of their own or to dissolve the practice and each go their separate way.

Shondra Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice has a new show coming to Channel Seven this month.

Off The Map – filmed in Hawaii – Is a series is set in a remote South American village, where seven doctors search for reasons that brought each of them to medicine

It’s main star is Martin Henderson (Bride and Prejudice, Home and Away) who plays Dr Ben Keeton and who has a twisted secret to hide. Meryl Streeps daughter Marnie Gummer also stars.

With a strong cast and great production, it’s unfortunate that this show was also cancelled after one Season. I guess along with Law and Order LA, Seven got a cheap deal on canned shows.

Seven will air Off the Map week commencing July 17th.
