How much have Nine promoted this – the first free to air broadcast of The Half Blood Prince? Harry returns to Hogwarts for his sixth year, to face a growing danger from Lord Voldemort and his supporters, which may be more than a match for his strengthening powers as a wizard.

The Biggest Loser (US), ELEVEN, 8.30pm.

With the finale airing next weekend, we are at the (pardon the cliché) business end of the competition. The contestants are put to the test in a trivia competition that tests both their food and fitness knowledge. The winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York.

Engineering Connections: The Space Shuttle, SBS ONE, 7.30pm

How many shows does this guy do!?!? Richard Hammond explores the ingenious design secrets of NASA’s space shuttle. He demonstrates the cooling system that keeps the shuttle’s engines from exploding, uses a wall of water to guard against the destructive power of sound waves, and explains how features found in cannonballs, tram tracks and camera irises help the shuttle successfully complete its missions.

Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach, GO!, 10.21pm

On the eve of his retirement, Lassard is being honoured as the Policeman of the Decade at the 50th Annual National Police Chiefs Convention in Miami Beach. At the airport terminal, Lassard accidentally picks up an overnight bag filled with $3 million in stolen diamonds. When the thieves locate and kidnap Lassard, his loyal graduates come to the rescue with hilarious results.

Pop quiz, hot shot? How many times has Speed aired on Ten? There’s a bomb on the bus… Stay above 50! Classic lines from a classic movie! A hot-shot young cop is the target of a psychopathic bomber’s elaborate revenge plot. Jack Traven must race against time – and the speed limit – to save a busload full of innocent passengers.

  

Friday Night Football: NRL. St George Illawarra Dragons Vs The Melbourne Storm. Nine 7.30pm NSW, 9.30pm QLD, 11.30pm VIC.

Set to be one of the classic battles that will help decide the minor premiership. With one of the Dragon’s star players out, can they get on top of the Storm, or do the Storm have it on the bag? Live in NSW from AAMI Park in Melbourne.

Friday Night Football: AFL. Carlton Vs Hawthorn. Seven 8.30pm VIC, SA & WA. 11.20pm NW & QLD.

It’s a genuine top four blockbuster between two of Melbourne’s biggest clubs. The Blues will need to break a run of seven losses against the Hawks if they’re to win. But Brett Ratten’s boys are a different prospect in 2011.

To celebrate the release of the final installment in the Harry Potter film saga, this special program counts down the 50 greatest Harry Potter moments.

Blitz St, SBS ONE, 8.30pm

Tony Robinson explores what it was like to live through the Blitz of World War II. A specially constructed row of terraced houses built on a remote military base is subjected to explosions similar to those inflicted by the Luftwaffe. The first episode looks at the most common bombs used in the Blitz in 1940, some of which contained up to 250kg of TNT. The program also features eyewitness testimonies, giving an insight into day-to-day life on the home front and the immense psychological damage caused by the bombardment.

Breakout Kings, ONE, 11.30pm

Like Father, Like Son. New time. Christian Beaumont has got an axe to grind with the entire system of organized government. The gang must find this escaped felon before something else is destroyed.

 

Nine, perhaps a little worried about Tuesday night (August 23) with Packed to the Rafters returning on Seven, have turned the night into a Top Gear night, adding an extra repeat episode after the season 17 finale which airs at 8.30pm.

At 10.00pm will be a replay of season 16, episode 1 which was the Middle East special. As a result, Megacities is out. Little Britain follows the Top Gear repeat at 11.35pm.

At 7.30pm this Friday (August 19) in Melbourne, the special called Harry Potter – The 50 Greatest Moments of Harry Potter airs. (Sydney and Brisbane viewers see this special after the Harry Potter movie on Saturday night (August 20), around 10.45pm.).

Following Harry Potter on Nine in Melbourne will be The Mentalist at 8.50pm, CSI at 9.50 and CSI: Miami at 10.50.

Sadly, Melbourne Storm fans have to wait until 11.50pm to see how their team goes against the St George Illawarra Dragons. That game is live at 7.30 in Sydney, and delayed to 9.30pm in Brisbane.
