Leah receives some unexpected news.

Nicole feels the aftermath of her behaviour with Freya.

Leah’s birthday

Leah’s family are all in town for her birthday party but things get a little more serious when she learns her parents have decided to separate and the business is going under.  It puts a damper on Leah’s mood for most of the night and feels she’s boring.

Her parents continue to argue in the middle of the party, rather embarrassingly. 

So Leah gets drunk and goes crazy, telling her mum to get out.  She jumps up on the table and dances.  She falls off on Roman! 

Afterwards, Leah thanks Roman for his help, then says he’s such a catch and jumps on his lap and kisses him!  Next thing, she vomits on him!

Tony

Tony is still really down and not social.  Rachel tries reaching out to him but feels like he’s shutting her out. 

Nicole

Nicole wants Geoff and Roman to move on about the kiss with Freya as it meant nothing. 

Martha

It’s Martha’s reconstructive surgery tomorrow, she’s a bit nervous but glad it’s finally over.  She doesn’t want anyone apart from Rachel to know. 

She continues to avoid Roman. 

Chris and Charlie

Leah’s brother Chris hits on Charlie. 

Xavier and Freya

Xavier says the ride is getting too crazy for him but Freya convinces him otherwise.

Tuesday February 17 2009 – Episode 4792

• Freya stops at nothing for Xavier’s attention.
• Xavier’s ‘hot’ list lands him in hot water.
• Will Leah’s birthday turn into a big greek 30^th?

Rachel and Tony

Tony is still in a weird space.  Rachel thinks that keeping him busy will help.

Leah

It’s Leah’s 30th birthday and she wants a low-key party – she’s still feeling down after not having Dan there with her. 

Xavier, Ruby, Nicole and Freya

Geoff’s not so sure about Nicole making friends with Freya, he thinks she’s too “out there”.  Nicole is finding her life with Geoff and being school captain rather boring. 

It’s Xavier’s first day at school and he’s in Ruby’s class.  They’re forced to work together on an assignment. 

At the diner, Freya makes out with Xavier and rips off his shirt to deliberately make a scene in front of Ruby.  Xavier is just embarrassed, especially since he’s going to work there. 

Xavier talks to Tony about Freya – who says it’s his life, he can’t let other people tell him how to live. 

Ruby decides to bring Freya down. 

Freya turns up at school, and Bartlett isn’t impressed. 

Ruby finds a hot list made up by Freya.  Geoff, Annie and Jai are on it.   Ruby’s upset because she’s not on it.  Xavier says she’s not on the list because he didn’t want Freya to rate her, to disrespect her.  He says he’s with Freya but he likes her too. 

Nicole’s not happy either because it said “thinks she’s hot”.  Freya then says she’s hot and kisses Nicole right in front of everyone!   Geoff is shocked.  Nicole thinks it was funny, no big deal.  Bartlett warns her to watch her behaviour.

Monday February 16 – Episode 4791

Will Roman’s confession ruin his friendship with Martha?
Rachel is concerned for Tony.
It’s an eventful first day for Belle… and for Aden.

Martha, Hugo and Roman

Martha freaks out about Hugo’s theory that Roman is still in love with her and isn’t happy about it. 

So she goes and asks him if he has feelings for her, if it’s why he broke up with Martha.  When she doesn’t answer, he takes it as a “yes”.  Martha feels he’s been taking advantage of her situation under the guise of being a “friend” and asks him to stay away.

Roman gets mad at Hugo.  Hugo say it’s his issue to deal with.

Later, Martha breaks down and tells Hugo she misses Jack so much and wants her old life with him back. 

Roman tells Martha he never meant for her to get hurt or even find out.  He never meant to deceive her.  Roman says he does have feelings for her but wasn’t ever going to act on them.  Martha thinks some distance between them will be best.  Roman says he’s sorry, then leaves. 

Rachel and Tony

Tony turns up late for work and misses a lunch appointment with Rachel.  Instead, he’s out on the boat, crying. 

Later he tells Rachel that life all seems meaningless and unfair. 

Leah

Leah’s Mum is organising a big 30th party for her. 

Miles

Miles is getting into exercising as a way to distract himself from moping at home, now that Kirsty has gone. 

Hugo

Hugo tries to get a job at the bait shop.

Belle

Belle is all excited about her first assignment, until her car breaks down.  She panics and calls Aden but he has to go back to work – it’s his first day on the trawler.    She misses her first interview and tries to call Aden again but he hangs up.  Belle then turns to popping pills to help her deal with her stress.

Friday February 13 2009 – Episode 4790

Xavier succumbs to Freya’s games.
Hugo drops a bombshell to Martha.
Nicole’s dinner party ends in disaster.

Belle

It’s Belle’s first day on her new job tomorrow and she’s really scared.  Secretly, she is still taking painkillers but is out of them.   

She admits to Rachel that she’s not sleeping and gets a prescription. 

Belle is surprised when she learns that Aden got offered a place at Uni from Nicole. 

Xavier, Ruby and Freya

Ruby applies for Aden’s job at the diner, since Aden is about to start working on the trawler. 

Hugo tries to make amends with Xavier – and warns him that he may have to go back home to his mum if he doesn’t start behaving. 

Martha gets Roman to offer Xavier a job to help keep him out of trouble.  When he does, Hugo gets mad at Roman, telling him to stay out of their business.  Ruby is mad that Xavier got “her” job.

Xavier tells Ruby that Freya gets in his head, playing games with him.  They agree to secretly meet at the diner that night. 

Freya tells Xavier he broke her heart, saying she’ll be at the Surf Club if he wants her.  When he turns up, she’s with another guy (to make him jealous).  Playing right into her hands, Xavier says they’re back together.  Of course, Ruby sees them kissing and is heartbroken all over. 

Nicole

Nicole is feeling a bit down, not having any close girlfriends after being in the Bay for a year.  She organises a double-date with Belle and Aden and cooks them a meal.  She doesn’t read the recipe properly and the dinner takes too long for Belle and Aden, who have to leave. 

Nicole wonders if she’s found a new friend in Freya. 

Martha and Hugo

Hugo admits to Martha that he thinks Roman is in love with her  – and that’s why he offered Xavier the job.

Thursday February 12 2009 – Episode 4789

Xavier’s ex arrives to reclaim her man.
Can Ruby compete with worldly temptress Freya?
Hugo’s attempts to end Xavier and Freya fail.

Xavier, Freya and Ruby

Xavier tries to convince Freya that it’s over but she won’t take no for an answer and says she’s here in town for as long as he wants.  Ruby is shocked to see her give him a big kiss before she leaves.  

Later, Martha comes in to find Xavier with his top off making out with Freya!   

Charlie and Leah aren’t impressed that Ruby secretly was with Xavier that afternoon.    Charlie tries to talk to Hugo about Xavier but he’s not interested.  Later, he apologies, saying it was just bad timing. 

Freya makes a big entrance into Summer Bay when she  flirts with both Martha and Nicole and walks around in her underwear in the caravan park.  Ruby is amazed at how confident she is but doesn’t want to be intimidated by her.  

Xavier tells Ruby he’s not sure what’s happening with Freya yet but he wants to talk to her, that it’s complicated.  Ruby gets really upset, saying she doesn’t want to see him again.

Xavier tells Hugo he’s broken up with Freya.

Later, Freya tells Hugo they’re in love and then tries to kiss Hugo!  Xavier comes in and is furious.  He tries to fight Hugo but Martha breaks them up.

Martha and Roman

Roman packs a surprise picnic on the beach for Martha.  Does he still have feelings for Martha?  And, does Hugo also have feelings for her?

Wednesday February 11 2009 – Episode 4788

A new friend helps Melody find her way as Miles continues his desperate search.
Is Ruby and Xavier’s secret relationship about to receive a blow?

Miles finally finds Melody

Melody doesn’t sleep well on her first night out on the streets.  The guy she’s with – Archie -  steals her some breakfast at the markets as she’s starving.  He also pickpockets a guy’s wallet.

Miles spots Melody and starts running after her but loses her amongst all the stands. 

When Melody realises he stole a wallet, she gets mad at him.  However, the guys he stole from turn up and chase them!  He gives her the money and gets her to take off while he’s beaten up by the guys and found by the police.

Charlie and Miles find Archie, who says she may have bought a train ticket.  He thanks him and gives him some cash. 

Miles gets an idea and goes into the cathedral to see if Melody is there – and she is.  Crying, Melody is amazed and sorry to see him.  She asks for him to take her home, then they hug.

Melody tells Miles she feels like she’s a burden on him.  Miles says he loves her and belongs at home with them.  Melody is grateful also to  Archie for his help.

Xavier and Ruby

Xavier starts helping out Tony at the gym, as punishment for drinking with Ruby.

Xavier and Ruby secretly hang out together.  When he’s not looking, Ruby checks Xavier’s phone – there’s a message from Freya.  Xavier says he’s not with Freya but she’s not good at taking no for an answer. Ruby asks how serious it was with Freya.  Xavier says he slept with Freya.

Guess who turns up in Summer Bay?  You guess it, Freya!

Charlie and Miles

Miles and Charlie awkwardly talk about the kiss and downplay it, saying they’re just mates. 

Leah’s 30th

Leah hands out invites for her 30th birthday next week. 

Tuesday February 10 2009 – Episode 4787

Will Melody survive the tough streets of Melbourne?
Miles revisits his past and resolves to find Melody no matter what.

The search for Melody

In Melbourne, Melody wakes up at a refuge for teens and is distraught to discover someone has stolen her bag overnight.  She meets Kayla, another teen at the refuge and scavenges for some food. 

Miles and Charlie hunt for Melody go to the refuge Melody stayed at and learn she lost everything. 

Back in Summer Bay, Annie worries about Melody but Jai wants to be positive. 

That night, Melody returns to the refuge and realises Miles and Charlie were there so takes off again. She take’s Charlie’s note with her number on it.

Melody realises Kayla stole Melody’s bag.  They almost fight on the street, but another street kid comes along and breaks them up.

Miles and Charlie share a hotel room and talk briefly about Roman and Kirsty.  He tells her of his own time living on the street and a girl who died.  He is afraid she’ll do anything to survive and vows not to leave until he’s found her.  Suddenly, Charlie kisses him!  They’re awkward afterwards.

That night, with nowhere else to go, Melody goes back to stay in a park with the guy.

Monday February 9 2009 – Episode 4786

Friday February 6 2009 7:00pm

Against Charlie’s wishes, Ruby and Xavier officially become a couple.
Charlie and Miles are hot on Melody’s heels.

Melody

Miles is shocked to find Melody’s note saying she’s left.  Miles and Alf go looking for her with Geoff, then go to the police. 

Meanwhile, Melody hitch hikes to Melbourne in a truck.  Miles decides to go to after her and Charlie will go with him. 

Ruby and Xavier

Ruby is nursing a hangover and promises she won’t get drunk again.  Charlie wants her to stop hanging out with Xavier and tells her about the dope.  Ruby says she’s going to see him, whether she likes it or not! 

Ruby tells Xavier they make a hot couple and says she’s never felt like this before.  Xavier says he’s into her too, and they’re going to be a couple.  They kiss. 

Xavier calls Freya and leaves a message for her, saying he’s breaking up with her. 

Martha

Charlie encourages Roman to be there for Martha.

Meanwhile, Hugo hangs out with Martha, cheering her up with stories of Jack as a kid.   Martha offers to have Hugo and Xavier move in with her.  He takes her up on it. 

Roman worries she’s taking on too much stress but Martha says having Xavier and Hugo around makes her feel closer to Jack.  Privately, Roman tells Hugo he’s not impressed they’re moving in with Martha.  Hugo thinks Roman thinks he’s the only one who can help Martha.  Roman says he’ll be keeping an eye on them.

Ruby’s wild side gets Xavier in trouble.
Has Miles uncovered the truth behind Melody’s behaviour?

Xavier and Hugo

Xavier and Hugo move into Tony and Rachel’s place and Tony says they can stay as long as they want.  Rachel’s not so sure about the idea as Tony’s been under so much pressure lately. 

Xavier just wants to be friends with Ruby but she still thinks he’s into her.  He says he’s still sort of seeing another girl, Freya. 

They end up hanging out together and Ruby opens some champagne (it was a bottle for Jack) with him and they get drunk.  They start of tickle on the couch and then kiss!

When they come back, Rachel and Tony are shocked they drank the special champagne – and that they were drinking. 

Hugo says they’re going to leave, as he doesn’t want to be a burden. 

Melody and Miles

Melody lies to Alf (who is pretty down over Bridget) and leaves work early.  Miles isn’t impressed and gets her to go and apologise. 

Miles tells Rachel it’s been a nightmare lately with Melody and wonders if Melody is pushing his buttons on purpose.  Rachel says maybe it’s related to how her mum brought her up and thinks Miles only cares about her if he’s coming down on her like a tonne of bricks. 

Miles sits Melody down and tells her his theory about her behaviour – saying he doesn’t want to be like her mum. 

Early the next morning, Melody packs up her stuff and leaves a note for Miles before leaving! 

Belle

The new editor at the newspaper offers Belle a job as a features writer, as a result of her article.  He wants to change the image of the newspaper back to real journalism.

Thursday February 5 2009 7:00pm

Can Martha and Tony get the closure they crave?
Belle closes a chapter on the cancer cluster.
Charlie suffers an emotional onslaught when she must charge a friend.

Tony and Rachel

Tony’s lost alone in his grief for Jack’s death, while Rachel is looking forward to the scan which causes friction between them.  They end their day hugging and talking about things. 

Jack’s death

Martha is shocked that Angelo is now pleading not guilty to Jack’s murder. 

Tony learns from Charlie that it’s possible that someone else shot Jack as his gun is missing and there wasn’t a bullet in Jack’s body. 

Angelo asks for Charlie to treat him as innocent until proven guilty.  He hopes it’s not him who killed Jack. 

Martha is a wreck and turns to Roman for comfort.  Roman rants at Charlie but she says she’s just doing her job.  They argue and Charlie tells him to go to hell.

However, the police find a bullet from Angelo’s gun with Jack’s DNA on it – so Angelo was the killer. 

The police find a bullet at the development site which matches Angelo’s gun so it looks like he was the killer.

Charlie is upset – she misses Jack and has no future with Angelo any more. 

Belle

Belle’s finished her story about the development site link to cancer.  Aden and Irene think it’s fantastic.

Meanwhile, the new soil samples came back positive for toxins. 

Belle thinks the story isn’t complete (now that Aden might not be the killer) so continues working on it.  The newspaper publishes it and Colleen is really moved by it. 

VJ

VJ will get some counselling after the kidnapping. 

Leah, Nicole and Aden

Leah meets with Lou, her seafood supplier, and asks if Aden could get a job working on one of his trawlers.  Lou agrees to giving him a job.  Irene chats to Lou and we learn he’s recently single. 

Aden’s so thankful to Leah – who just wants him to stop fighting with Nicole.
