American Horror Story is thinking about picking Adam Levine to be a part of Season 2. The Maroon 5 frontman and coach of The Voice  in the US, is in talks to take on his first acting role and play one half of a couple referred to as “The Lovers” in the drama’s second run. To date, all that is known about Season 2 is that it will be set on the US East Coast at an “institution” and bring back Jessica Lange (who originally played Constance), Zachary Quinto (Chad), Evan Peters (Tate), Sarah Paulson (psychic Billie Dean) and Lily Rabe (doctor’s wife Nora), all as new characters.

Jersey Shore has just been renewed for a sixth season – which should be intresting, seeing as “The Situation” has just gone into rehab and Snooki is pregnant!!

Harry’s Law attorney Kathy Bates will jump to CBS for one night only when she guest stars in the April 30 episode of Men as the ghost of Charlie Harper. In the episode, Alan (Jon Cryer) suffers a minor heart attack and Charlie’s spirit (taking the form of Bates) pays him a visit at the hospital.

Allison Mack has booked her first new TV gig, and it’s a major recurring role on Wilfred, starring  creator, Aussie Jason Gann.

The Good Wife‘s Alicia Florrick is going to have a pair of wily Lockhart Gardner nemeses – Patti Nyholm (Martha Plimpton) and Louis Canning (Michael J. Fox)  teaming up to take on the firm in a case that will be central to the show’s Season 3 finale.

The 30 Rock gang are staging yet another live episode, this one set to air in the US on Thursday, April 26. 30 Rock‘s first star-studded live experiment was broadcast in October 2010 during the show’s fifth season.

The Guido and Guidettes from Jersey are about to hit our shore with Season 4 premiering on MTV, September 7 at 9.30pm.

This season, the stars of Jersy Shore, such as Snookie, Mike “The Situation”, “JWOWW” and Pauly D visit Florence, Italy. Pictures have already been shown on this site of Snookie crashing into a police car there. 

The premiere of season 4 overseas, had the largest audience ever in MTV history in Canada with 880,000 viewers and over 8.8 million watched in the USA – Jersey Shore only airs on pay tv in both countries.. MTV is channel 124 on Foxtel here, where Jersey Shore is aired.

“Season 4 is crazy,” says a producer. “I think I laughed and cried harder to see season 4. The drama is through the roof. It is literally the craziest season I’ve had.”

“I think [what the audience] is going to see that there are two different storylines to be developed that no one will see coming and which are the two story lines that make this season completely crazy,” says Salsano. “Two things I never would have thought I was going to happen will happen and turns everything upside down.”

In the second episode, two unlikely couples may form. Deena and Pauly consider the consequences should they kiss, while Mike tries to take his friendship with Snooki to the next level. At the club, Ron and Sammi try to be friends but prove that old habits, both good and bad, die hard.

MTV will braodcast the series 4 premiere on September 7 at 9.30pm.

Jersey Shore fourth season trailer

An extended trailer for the fourth season of Jersey Shore has been released online. The season sees the cast head to Florence, Italy to try and rediscover their roots.

Entourage movie in the works

Entourage creator Doug Ellin has confirmed that a movie based on the series is in the works. Ellin told Entertainment Weekly: “We’re going to do a movie. We’re going to do it. It’s a question of when and how quick. We’ll sit down and come up with an idea.”

Downton Abbey could run for six seasons

Downton Abbey executive producer Gareth Neame believes the period drama could run for as many as six seasons. “I think it can continue for series four, five and six!” Neame said when discussing the eight-part second season. “It could move up to the 1930s, as long as the audience wants it.”

Reality TV “killing scripted TV”

Several TV showrunners in the US have spoken out about how reality TV is killing scripted TV. Everybody Loves Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal has blamed reality TV for diverting network recourses from scripted TV: “Sure they’re to blame because they’re cheap to do,” he said. “The glut of reality shows that we’re seeing could signal something larger than just a trend. And that is the end of civilization.”

Super Rugby final draws big numbers

Saturday night’s Super Rugby final between the Reds and the Crusaders produced record pay TV ratings in Australia for Fox Sports. 518,000 viewers tuned in here while 461,210 watched over in NZ on Sky Sport.

Oprah not hosting Oscars

Oscars boss Tom Sherak has dismissed rumours that Oprah Winfrey will be hosting the 2012 Academy Awards. “It’s not true, and I don’t know where that story even came from,” he told the Hollywood Reporter.

Sheridan eyeing Packed to the Rafters exit

Packed to the Rafters actor Hugh Sheridan, who plays Ben Rafter, is eyeing an exit from the Aussie drama series in order to try his luck in the US. “The main reason for going over there is that, while I don’t have any definite plans yet to leave Rafters, LA is the ultimate opportunity for actors,” Sheridan said.

Vinny rumoured to be leaving Jersey Shore

Jersey Shore cast member Vinny Guadagnino is said to be departing the MTV reality series ahead of its fifth season. MTV have refused to clarify the rumours, instead just saying: “viewers can be assured they will have answers when season five premieres.”

Glee dropping cast member

Glee producers have confirmed that actor Chord Overstreet will not be returning as a series regular for its third season. He may still appear on the show as an occasional guest star.

Fry to play God in Monty Python project

Stephen Fry is to play God in a forthcoming BBC comedy film that deals with the religious controversy created by the Monty Python movie The Life of Brian.

After days of reported drama between Vinny Guadagnino and his Jersey Shore housemates, he may have finally made up his mind on whether he’s staying in the Seaside Heights house.

Reports have surfaced that Guadagnino left the house late on Friday after a heated argument with one of his cast mates. Reportedly, he complained of feeling “burnt out” and returned home to Staten Island with no desire to return to shooting.

His departure follows news that the reality star left the house earlier this week complaining of homesickness. Sources have revealed that his cast mates were able to talk him back. This time around, sources say the crew have tired of his antics and won’t be trying to get him to return.

MTV released the following statement: “We don’t comment on series while they are in production but viewers can be assured they will have answers when Season 5 premieres.”

According to sources, the crew had very little free time between returning to the United States after shooting Season 4 in Italy before production began for Season 5 back in Seaside Heights.

Apparently MTV has no plans to recast the stars, making Season 5 the last.Season 4 in Italy premieres on August 4 on MTV in the USA.

Weeds seventh season could be the last

Weeds executive producer Roberto Benabib has said that the show’s upcoming seventh season is being planned as a potential final season. Benabib stated that the conclusion will provide “closure”, after hinting that the series may not be renewed for season eight.

Sorkin and Krasinski team up for mini-series

Writer and director Aaron Sorkin and The Office actor John Krasinski will team up for a new mini-series centring on the infamous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. The project will be based on the book Life At The Marmont which follows the stories of people who have frequented the hotel over the years.

Spader in talks over Office role

James Spader is said to be in talks over a role on The Office, replacing Kathy Bates’ character Jo Bennett. Spader guest starred on the finale of the latest season as a job applicant.

MTV has shot down rumours Jersey Shore will be recast after its fifth season, stating that the network is happy with its current line-up.

Jackass’s Ryan Dunn dies in car crash

Jackass star Ryan Dunn has been killed in a car accident overnight in Pennsylvania. Dunn and an unidentified person died when the Porsche he was driving left the road and burst into flames. A post on the official MTV Twitter page read: “We’re deeply saddened by the passing of a member of the MTV family, Ryan Dunn. Our hearts and thoughts are with his friends and family.”

The G4 network in the US has pulled the Ryan Dunn-hosted reality series Proving Ground following news of his death.

Hobbit role confirmed for Sherlock actor

Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch has been revealed as the voice of Smaug the dragon in Peter Jackson’s forthcoming Hobbit prequels. Evangeline Lilly from Lost and Aussie comic Barry Humphries have also been confirmed for the series.

Another British Jersey Shore spin-off planned

The Brits are planning another Jersey Shore spin-off, this time based in Liverpool. MTV launched the Newcastle-based Geordie Shore last month in the UK to record-breaking ratings for the network.

Gyllenhaal joins Grylls on survival mission

Bear Grylls of Man vs Wild says he took actor Jake Gyllenhaal on a survival mission in Iceland last month to prepare him for an upcoming role. Grylls said: “We had crazy conditions sleeping in snow caves, huge river crossings and these torrential storms. I was a little bit nervous as I promised Jake’s management team I would keep him alive, but he was brilliant.”

Lost actor joins new Sinbad series

Lost actor Naveen Andrews has been cast in a new British series, entitled Sinbad, that is based on the iconic mythological character but given a modern twist.

Neighbours to have first gay couple

Neighbours will have its first ever gay couple on the series later this year when a former Home and Away actor join the cast as a love interest for an existing character. While there have been gay characters on the soap in the past, as far as a couple is concerned it is a first for Neighbours.

NBC wins My Name is Earl lawsuit

NBC bosses have won a lawsuit against a writer who claims he created the concept for My Name Is Earl. The man sued the network back in 2008 after he alleged the sitcom was ripped off a script called Karma he wrote and shopped around to TV networks in 1995.

Former NSYNC member Lance Bass has announced plans for a new boyband reality series. Bass has gathered together a judging panel made up of former members of boybands such as Backstreet Boys, New Kids on the Block and NSYNC.

Jersey Shore cast hold out for more pay

The cast of MTV reality series Jersey Shore will reportedly earn their highest salaries yet in the show’s fifth season after holding out for more pay. The network was attempting to sign them on the same contracts as the fourth season but lawyers for the cast members refused negotiations unless they were redrawn under new terms.

Jon Hamm says Mad Men will end after season seven

Mad Men actor Jon Hamm says he believes the drama series will end after its seventh season. Hamm, who plays Don Draper on the show, says he is sure it will come to a close after its current three-year with the AMC network expires.

Producer Rick McCallum has stated that the live-action Star Wars TV series will be another three or four years away. The project has been put on hold due to a lack of technology necessary to shoot such an ambitious show.

Reality show cast banned from clubs

A number of clubs in Newcastle have banned the cast of the UK Jersey Shore spinoff, Geordie Shore, from their premises after a number of drunken fights in the opening episodes of the MTV reality series.

Parker joins Dexter

Actress Molly Parker has signed on to appear in several episodes in the new season of Dexter. Parker has previously appeared in the likes of Deadwood and moves such as The Road and Wicker Man.
