Kath & Kim star Gina Riley is having treatment for breast cancer.

Riley, who rose to fame in the late-80s on sketch comedy series Fast Forward and is one of Australia’s most-loved entertainers, was diagnosed before Christmas.

She has since had the cancer removed and is preparing for further treatment described as “insurance” to ensure she returns to full health.

Medical specialists at Cabrini Hospital have devised Riley’s treatment program and have said the prognosis is excellent because the cancer was detected early. Continue reading »

UPDATED. Smash, which Seven have promoted heavily for months, finally airs at 9.30pm Tuesday August 28, after Winners & Losers. The show aired in the US in February and soon after on Foxtel on the now defunct W Channel.

Meanwhile, there are three new episodes of Criminal Minds this week (and looks like four in the following week), as well as new Hung, Covert Affairs and Suits.

Kath & Kim movie on the way

Kath & Kim is set to be developed into a film which will take the entire cast to Europe. The film, entitled The Kath & Kim Filum, will go into production later in the year in Italy.

Sheen replacement rumours begin

Charlie Sheen has been dumped from Two and a Half Men for all of one day and the rumours for a replacement are already beginning. TMZ is reporting that series producer Chuck Lorre has reached out to actor Rob Lowe as a possible replacement for Sheen.

Criss Angel honoured

TV magician Criss Angel has become the youngest inductee into the International Magic Society Hall of Fame. The 43-year-old star of Criss Angel: Mindfreak was also presented with the group’s lifetime achievement award.

Scrubs actor join pilot

Former Scrubs actor John C. McGinley has joined the new ABC pilot Smothered where he will feature alongside Marcia Gay Harden and Sons of Anarchy actor Adam Arkin.

Sheen celebrates firing in style

In Charlie Sheen news, the actor has reportedly celebrated his axing from Two and a Half Men by brandishing a large machete on the roof of the Live Nation building in Beverly Hills. TMZ have footage of the actor waving the sword before declaring “this is the greatest day of my life.”

Kath and Kim to return?

There are rumours doing the rounds that Aussie comedy Kath and Kim may return after a three year hiatus. Actress Magda Szubanski recently confirmed a meeting with fellow cast members Gina Riley and Jane Turner as well as the program creators but any further information as off-limits.

MTV passes on new Lauren Conrad series 

MTV has passed on Lauren Conrad’s new reality project, saying it was not a good fit. The former Hills cast member announced a new reality show late last year but MTV say they will not be airing it despite the fact they “love” Conrad.

Rob Schneider pilot picked up

CBS has picked up a new pilot for a sitcom by Rob Schneider in which he features as a lifelong bachelor who somehow finds himself married and subsequently forced to integrate into a large Mexican-American family.

Coogan addresses Top Gear controversy

Comedian Steven Coogan has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding comments about Mexicans on Top Gear in the UK. Coogan says of Richard Hammond and his fellow presenters:  ”The Lads have this strange notion that if they are being offensive it bestows on them a kind of anti-establishment aura of coolness; in fact, like their leather jackets and jeans, it is uber-conservative… Big viewing figures don’t give you impunity – they carry responsibility.”

The Situation to leave Jersey Shore soon

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has announced plans to leave Jersey Shore in the next two years to concentrate on his acting career.

Kath plans a romantic evening together with her hunk of a spunk, but their night is ruined when Kim and Craig come home from a dinner date earlier than expected.

Any chance for romance is thrown out the window when Kim and Craig have a public fight after he refuses to fund her newest business venture—a lingerie party.

Kath is embarrassed by her daughter’s behaviour and decides to solve all her problems by fixing Kim’s marriage. She puts her plan into motion, which includes asking Phil to give Craig tips on how to be more like him and financing Kim’s party.

TV reviewers in the US have shown absolutely no mercy to the US version of Australia’s hit comedy series Kath & Kim and have even gone as far as saying it’s so bad that it warrants severing trade relations with Australia.

This week on KATH & KIM, it’s the wedding event of the century!

Sharon’s always been unlucky in love… until now that is. Kath and Kim go into planning mode for the event of the century!

Meanwhile, Brett gets the job of a lifetime and finds a perfect new place to live with Kim and Epps. With the house to themselves, Kath and Kel embark on a new business venture – and being “people, people” there is no way they can fail.

Looks like it’s all going to end happily for everyone… Or is it?

I hadn’t really seen too much of Kath & Kim up until this season and I have to say that it’s really grown on me.

I loved the segment that Kath and Kel did with the cross promotion on Dancing With The Stars as well.
