If reports are true, Seven and Nine are about to complete a ‘Swappage of the Stars’ with Kerri-Anne Kennerley rumoured to be heading to Seven to compete on the show Sonia Kruger left for Channel Nine; Dancing with the Stars.
Earlier in the morning, commentator Peter Ford tweeted ‘KAK and 9 are parting ways. I’d suggest she’ll be fox-trotting her way to 7 where she’ll shimmy and rumba on the next DWTS’ before tweeting ‘Aussie TV is funny. Sonia leaves DWTS for KAK’s job and KAK is moved on and joins the show Sonia left’.
Sonia Kruger has presented Dancing with the Stars since its inception however will not return in 2012 due to new contractual agreements that began with Nine at the start of the month. Her new contract with the channel allowed her to take over the morning timeslot vacated by the ‘axed’ Kennerley.
But while Sonia may be taking over hosting duties of Kennerley’s old show (alongside David Campbell), it is expected Kerri-Anne will only appear on DWTS as a contestant; having been locked in with Seven for a supposed 3 months. Kruger, on a hostess basis, was always given one year contracts.
But the move could be the foot in the Seven-shaped door for Kennerley, who is expected to announce her retirement from her former station soon. Should her stint travel successfully, she may be seen elsewhere on Australia’s no. 1 channel.
Other names floated around for the 2012 season (for a place as a contestant) includes Brendan Fevola and Larry Emdur.
Dancing With The Stars returns to Seven later this year.
