Laid

9:00pm – Wednesday, June 6 on ABC1

With so much going on, Roo (Alison Bell) and EJ (Celia Pacquola) have a confession session that leads to some startling revelations regarding Marcus (Damon Herriman), EJ’s tryst and the bile-inducing secret EJ has been guarding involving Jan (Deborah Kennedy).

Roo again tries to mend bridges with Charlie (Abe Forsythe) but his condition has worsened and he has slipped into a coma. Jan insists Roo leave them alone – she has done more than enough, has caused more than enough pain to Charlie.

Marcus comes to a disturbing realisation about Roo – he is in love with her. He’s prepared to sacrifice his gift by having sex with her. But there’s a catch. Roo must leave Charlie and promise to be with Marcus permanently. He knows they have a connection, it was there when they kissed – she can learn to love him.

Roo grapples with her conscience. There is no way she could ever love Marcus, no way she could ever stop loving Charlie. Is she able to lie to Marcus when he’s at his most vulnerable? To potentially steal what’s most precious to him by cancelling out his healing gift? Ultimately she decides she can and will – all for Charlie. Feeling wretched, Roo begins with proceedings and when Charlie makes a miraculous recovery, it becomes clear that the deed has been done. But the impact on Roo and Marcus is far from what anyone could have predicted.

9:00pm – Wednesday, May 30 on ABC1

When Marcus (Damon Herriman) persists in seeking out Roo’s (Alison Bell) help, Roo sees her chance to use the situation to her advantage. If she helps Marcus, he would owe her, meaning she could finally put an end to her curse. And so she decides to do just that despite the fact it means absconding from a family funeral and ditching Charlie (Abe Forsythe) for the man she promised never to see again. If Roo can fix everything, it will all be worth it. Right.

Sick of Zach’s (Toby Truslove) increasingly idiotic ways, EJ (Celia Pacquola) ends their relationship once and for all. At first Zach doesn’t believe her but when she fails to even have the will to yell at him, he sees that EJ really has moved on. This time it’s different. This time it’s final. And it is in this vulnerable state that EJ finds herself sharing an intimate moment with the least likely person.

In order to help Marcus fix his problem, Roo squeamishly finds herself role-playing a date scenario with him. After a bumpy start, Marcus and Roo discover a genuine connection which leads to a kiss that has a surprising impact on each of them. Despite Roo’s efforts, Marcus being Marcus, leaves her high and dry, no closer to ending her curse. Used and upset, Roo seeks out Charlie to apologise and beg forgiveness – but Charlie’s fiercely protective mum, Jan (Deborah Kennedy), thwarts Roo’s efforts to reconcile with Charlie.

9:00pm – Wednesday, May 23 on ABC1

Humiliated following her latest encounter with Marcus (Damon Herriman), Roo (Alison Bell) decides it’s time to dismiss Marcus as a treatment option and pursue other avenues. EJ (Celia Pacquola) is thrilled to finally slam shut the Marcus chapter and so is less than thrilled when he turns up at their door. With Roo not home, EJ sends Marcus packing making it more than clear he’s not welcome and that they’ve moved on. He should too.

Tension simmers between Roo and Charlie (Abe Forsythe) when he realises Roo has had further contact with Marcus. Charlie makes her promise not to see Marcus ever again. Roo promises, redoubling her resolve to explore all other healing possibilities. And this is how she and EJ find themselves doing yoni push ups at sexual bootcamp. During a particularly strange truth session, Roo learns of Marcus’s visit and is furious that EJ hasn’t told her before – maybe Marcus has changed his mind. The girls fight as it becomes clear Roo has far from closed the door on Marcus being the solution to all her problems. In a vulnerable moment EJ is reminded the reason Roo is clinging to Marcus’s healing abilities is because Roo knows Charlie is dying – it’s only a matter of time.

Against her better judgement, EJ tells Roo to go find Marcus and that’s exactly what she does – but before she can, bad news about Charlie waylays her. Alone at the end of a very emotional day, Roo has one last surprise in store.

There is much relief and whooping when Charlie (Abe Forsythe) is given a clean bill of health and returns home. But his happy homecoming is clouded when he learns of Roo’s (Alison Bell) attempts to sleep with Marcus (Damon Herriman). Roo and Charlie quickly find themselves plunged into less than comfortable conversations that thankfully end up bonding them further together. However, when this bonding takes on an amorous dimension, Charlie’s health rapidly deteriorates and Roo is propelled once more to get Marcus to heal her. But how, when he has so adamantly rejected her.

Roo decides it is time to get sneaky and much to EJ’s (Celia Pacquola) consternation resorts to extreme and unconventional means that involve chicken noodle soup, sticky tape and banana icecream. But Roo hasn’t thought her plan through and it quickly becomes apparent that she’s going to need a contingency.

Not easily deterred, Roo enlists Zach’s (Toby Truslove) help in getting what she wants from Marcus. The way she sees it, Zach kind of owes her. If it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be the death survivor he claims to be. Despite Zach’s best efforts, Marcus becomes aware of Roo’s plan and enjoys the torment of confronting her. Humiliated, Roo has no choice but to retreat – for now. It seems Marcus once again holds the gloating upper hand but privately we see just how rattled he is by her dogged ways.

Laid

9:05pm – Wednesday, May 9 on ABC1

When Roo decides the only way forward is for her to have sex with Marcus, EJ is less than on board. Wearing her best supportive face, EJ questions Roo’s thinking. What if instead of Marcus healing Roo, Roo ends up killing Marcus? Is that a risk Roo is willing to take? It’s not. She can’t cause any more death or destruction and so once again she seeks out G-bomb’s advice. Thankfully he reassures her that Marcus is safe from her powers. While Roo is seeking out G-bomb, EJ does some sleuthing of her own with surprising and bile-inducing results. The experience leaves her traumatised yet no closer to being able to prove Marcus is a fraud.

Summoning her courage, Roo goes to be treated by Marcus only to find he’s not there – the reason being that Zach has taken matters into his own hands to prevent the Roo/Marcus coupling. Marcus’s time captive is not a complete waste as Zach inadvertently divulges the truth about Roo and her curse. And so when Marcus eventually returns and finds Roo waiting, he leads her a merry dance that includes carbonara and karaoke before telling her there is no chance he’ll sleep with her. Ever. There’s no way he’s risking losing his powers to save her.

Stars Alison Bell, Celia Pacquola, Damon Herriman, Toby Truslove, Graeme Blundell, Tracy Mann, Shaun Micallef.

Laid

9:30pm – Wednesday, March 16 on ABC1

In the final episode, Roo’s attempts to reconnect with EJ fail as EJ grapples with Zach’s impending death and the fact she seems to be co-pilot on Zach’s ‘bucket list’. As they work their way through a series of increasingly bizarre scenarios, EJ finds herself sprung at the aquarium about to ‘get intimate’ with Zach.

Roo meets Charlie’s mum, Jan, and is horrified when Charlie begins to tell detailed details of Roo’s ‘situation’. Roo tries to stop him but Charlie assures her Jan can help using less than conventional means. As Charlie tries to convince Roo of Jan’s sanity, Roo explores her options but drops everything when EJ calls. Seems things at the aquarium have taken a dangerous turn.

Roo is there in a flash and the best friends are reunited – but shockingly, Zach’s risk-taking goes too far.

Roo takes Zach’s brush with death as proof Jan’s methods are working, and embracing her advice, sets about making peace with her past in the hope of setting them – and herself – free. Jan is impressed by Roo’s efforts and gives her the all clear. Roo is hesitant but Charlie is willing to risk all for their love.

Stars Alison Bell, Celia Pacquola, Toby Truslove, Abe Forsythe, Graeme Blundell, Tracy Mann.

Laid

9:30pm – Wednesday, March 9 on ABC1

At odds with EJ, living back home with her parents, Roo is in more than a messed up state when she invites Charlie to her great Nan-Nan’s 94th birthday. At the party Charlie charms everyone. When Grandma Pearl drags Roo aside wanting to know what Roo is waiting for, Roo lets slip she can’t be with Charlie because every guy she sleeps with dies. Seems Grandma Pearl has the same problem. Could this be a family curse? Roo abandons Charlie in her quest for answers, driving him further away. Roo’s attempt to apologise for deserting Charlie falls short and when Zach later fronts him about Roo’s death curse, it looks like things between Roo and Charlie are truly over.

Andrew teeters on the brink of death. In his comatose state, Roo talks openly and intimately as she confides he was the love of her life. Roo can’t stand to see Andrew in such pain so decides to use her killer anatomy to take him to a peaceful, pain-free place. But strangely, Andrew makes a miraculous recovery leading Roo to believe re-rooting her exes is the key to saving them. Roo confronts Zach who has his pants down in a flash. But Roo lays down her conditions. She won’t do it without EJ’s consent.

When her latest theory goes belly up, Roo feels more lost and confused than ever, and finds support where she least expects it.

Stars Alison Bell, Celia Pacquola, Toby Truslove, Abe Forsythe, Graeme Blundell, Tracy Mann.

Laid

9:30pm – Wednesday, March 2 on ABC1

Roo’s (Alison Bell) gyno, G-Bomb (Shaun Micallef), needs to see her urgently.

Could this be the answer to what the hell’s been going on? With EJ (Celia Pacquola) in tow, Roo fronts G-Bomb only to be told he wants her to see a shaman specialising in reproductive organ possession. Roo storms out into the waiting room – straight into Charlie (Abe Forsythe) – and it’s beyond awkward. EJ and Roo dissect the matter as EJ bundles a reluctant Roo off to see the shaman. Does this mean Charlie has a girlfriend? But an embarrassing moment of defensive motor-mouthing from Roo reveals Charlie’s motives were entirely innocent. Roo ponders what new depths she can plumb with the guy she seems to be falling for.

When Zach (Toby Truslove) stumbles across the photoboard of exes, he confronts Roo and she has no choice but to set him straight. Zach is horrified – he’s dying? Roo reassures him it’ll all be solved before it gets to him. Zach insists Roo has a duty to inform her victims and offers to help. Horrified by the thought of Zach’s bumbling ‘assistance’, Roo states her case in no uncertain terms – Zach is to butt out. Completely ignoring Roo, Zach attempts to unite Roo’s exes, with disastrous results that not only speed up the death order but also lead to EJ discovering about Roo and Zach’s ‘mistake’.

Laid

9:30pm – Wednesday, February 23 on ABC1

Roo is a-flutter when Charlie asks her to fill in on his indoor cricket team – but is it a date or not.

The arrival of Telly, a rival team-mate, pulls Roo up short as she remembers a distant drunken night with him…but did they sleep together? It seems liquor has erased all memory.

Roo hounds Telly, and Charlie becomes increasingly unimpressed that she seems to be homing in on another guy. With Roo looking not unlike a bunny boiler, Telly finally tells her of course they didn’t have sex. He’s a married man, with a family! Relieved, Roo returns to Charlie, who has got the major snots up. As Roo and Charlie bicker, it becomes clear that Telly isn’t Mr ‘Family Values’ after all.

EJ presents Roo with her latest piece of craft – a photoboard of Roo’s exes, complete with dates and sexual details designed to help them crack the death code. Propelled to action, Roo goes in search of Russ, the next ex on her list. Roo appoints herself his protector but whilst under her ‘protection’ Russ has an accident and is rushed to hospital. As Roo paces the waiting room, EJ calls to tell her the guy after Russ on the ex list has died. What does this mean? A confusing confession from Russ provides Roo with another piece to the death puzzle.

In a grand – and slightly misguided – romantic gesture, Charlie invites Roo on a proper, proper date. But how can she possibly inflict her complicated, potentially fatal self on him?

Laid

9:30pm – Wednesday, February 16 on ABC1

Roo (Alison Bell) is preoccupied by the idea she may be causing her exes to die. Try as she might, she finds no comfort from her father, Graham (Graeme Blundell), nor G-bomb (Shaun Micallef), her less than traditional gyno.

Instead, she finds herself in the crossfire of yet another domestic between EJ (Celia Pacquola) and her pain in the butt boyfriend, Zach (Toby Truslove).

Seems this split might actually stick and so Roo takes EJ out to celebrate.

They bump into Charlie (Abe Forsythe) at the pub and Roo’s initial thrill is soon snuffed when his exceedingly junior girlfriend turns up.

Feeling dejected Roo heads for home where a pining Zach has set up a vigil on the front lawn. Roo takes pity on him and listens to his heartbreak. As Zach opens up, so does Roo and a vulnerable moment leads Roo into a compromising situation.

When Roo is invited to catch up with the ex-love of her life, Andrew (Septimus Caton), she’s more than a little over-excited, but is devastated to learn Andrew’s made contact to tell her he’s dying. Reeling, Roo returns home to find EJ and Zach ‘mid reunion’.

News of Andrew’s impending death finally convinces EJ something is indeed up with Roo’s exes. Ever organised, EJ and Roo make a list of all the guys Roo has ever had sex with and a creepy pattern seems to emerge.
