10:00pm – Monday, August 13 on ABC2

After yet another date that goes nowhere, Louie is tackling the nightly ordeal of attempting to put his daughters to bed. With their ceaseless joy for life, it’s never an easy task. Once he finally gets the girls to go to sleep, there’s a knock at his front door. The babysitter Karen has arrived but Louie had forgotten that he’d booked her. After trying to cancel with Karen, Louie is shamed into going out instead of staying in and wallowing in self pity.

Later, Louie meets up with some other comics at a bar, and his buddy Nick tells him that he’s got to hook up with the African American comics: they know how to get women. The group heads to a nightclub but it all becomes too much for Louie to handle. Instead, he heads to a comedy club and does an impromptu spot. Arriving home in the wee hours of the morning, he’s reminded of the things that matter most in his sad life.

10:00pm – Monday, August 6 on ABC2

Louie is on a play-date with Pamela and her son Serge when he works up the nerve to ask Pamela out on a date (even though Pamela made it clear when they first met that she was no longer interested in dating).

Onstage, Louie is recounting the time he was at an airport with his two young daughters and they all needed to go to the bathroom. With no other option, he was forced to take his girls into the men’s toilets, and it was a horrifying experience.

After dropping his kids off at school, Louie complains to a fellow parent that the daily grind is getting to him and that he always feels tired. The other parent is a personal trainer and suggests that getting fit will change Louie’s outlook. The two of them head to the gym for a workout but things go terribly awry.

10:00pm – Monday, July 30 on ABC2

Louie is onstage pondering the existence of God, noting that if He does exist, He must be a jerk. He jokes that God is essentially a bad girlfriend: constantly making you prove your love, but never being satisfied with your actions.

Moving on to the subject of Jesus, Louie recalls going to Sunday school and being told Jesus died for mankind’s sins. In a flashback to his childhood, a stern nun is describing Jesus’ crucifixion to Louie and his classmates. When one of Louie’s friends makes light of the matter, the nun decides to teach the students a terrifying lesson.

Afterwards, Louie is so disturbed that he has nightmares about all of his sinful acts, and ends up going to the church to rescue Jesus from the cross. When his mother confronts him about the incident, she’s horrified to learn what he’s been taught in Sunday school.

10:05pm – Monday, July 23 on ABC2

A fearful Louie pays a long-overdue visit to the dentist and has a panic attack. The dentist opts to sedate him but before Louie is rendered unconscious, he notices the dentist has become a little tactile, even kissing him on the forehead. Soon Louie is in the middle of a vivid dream, where he’s wandering through the desert and talking to Osama Bin Laden about 9/11. When he wakes up, the dentist looks guilty and embarrassed, and rushes out the door… without having fixed Louie’s cavity.

On stage, Louie is performing his stand up and lamenting the fact that he’s never been the kind of guy who can just go up and talk to women. He maintains he’s not like confident African-American men who wear suede vests without a shirt underneath, and can have all the sex they want.

Later, at the supermarket, Louie attempts to flirt with a girl named Tarese who is working at the checkout. She completely ignores him. After paying for his groceries, Louie goes back into the supermarket, buys a bouquet of flowers and presents them to her. Tarese gets annoyed and calls her manager over.

10:00pm – Monday, July 16 on ABC2

Louie is onstage complaining that the hardest part about having kids is the part of the day that he spends with them. He grumbles about having to get up at six in the morning, adding that he’s blown off entire careers because he didn’t want to get up that early.

After dropping his daughters off at his ex-wife’s house, Louie receives a call from his friend Pamela. He tells her he doesn’t know what to do with himself when the kids are gone, and Pamela encourages him to embrace his freedom. Louie resolves not to be a pathetic loser, but then binges on ice-cream and pizza. Awakened from a food coma by a call from his brother Robbie, Louie confesses to eating junk food for two days, and Robbie tells him to get some exercise.

Louie is about to start exercising in his lounge room when he smells marijuana coming from the apartment next door. He knocks on his neighbour’s door and confronts him. His neighbour maintains he’s never smoked pot while lighting up a joint and blowing the smoke in Louie’s face. Louie calls him a jerk, and is about to walk away when the man apologises and invites him in. Louie reluctantly accepts the invitation and then proceeds to get high and hallucinate.

Louie wakes up the next day very hung over. He goes out to get coffee, and comes across a dog sitting outside the cafe, and feels inspired to get one of his own. He visits a dog pound, and is goaded into adopting an aging red setter called ‘Bear’, but it turns out the dog doesn’t have long to live.

10:00pm – Monday, July 2 on ABC2

Louie is at the airport checking in for his flight to Birmingham, Alabama.

After being issued a boarding pass, Louie is told that his flight has been cancelled as the plane has crashed, so he accepts a standby seat on another flight.

On the plane, a very large man sits next to Louie and encroaches on his personal space. The pilot then announces the plane’s departure is delayed due to a tornado and hurricane warning. Once in the air the plane suffers a severe bout of turbulence which prompts the pilot to ask God to have mercy on their souls. Eventually, the flight arrives safely at its destination.

Later that evening, Louie performs his stand-up to a large audience in Birmingham. When he starts making jokes about the audience’s hometown, he receives a frosty reception from the crowd.

Afterwards, Louie goes to a diner where he’s approached by a burly man who tells him that his sister is a huge fan. Louie thanks him, but it’s obvious the man expects Louie to go over to meet his sister. Louie reluctantly obliges, and after an awkward exchange, he politely tells the sister he has to leave because he has a plane to catch.

As he walks out into the night, Louie is accosted by the brother and threatened with violence for upsetting his sister. An elderly sheriff is nearby and comes to Louie’s rescue. After driving him back to his hotel, the sheriff tells Louie that when someone does you a favour, it’s only right to give them something in return… such as a kiss on the lips.

10:00pm – Monday, June 25 on ABC2

Louie is performing his stand-up when he is interrupted by a woman at a table nearby the stage. He politely asks her to stop talking, but only moments later she interrupts him again. Louie then embarks on a dressing down so vicious that at one point he suggests that the woman die of AIDS.

Afterwards, the woman sees Louie standing outside the comedy club, and confronts him for berating her. Aware that the woman has been heckling all the comedians that evening, Louie asks her if she has a nice life – she does. He then explains to her that most comedians have a miserable life apart from their time spent on stage, and she has selfishly robbed them of this moment.

Meanwhile, Louie’s agent has secured him a part in a remake of The Godfather. Matthew Broderick, who is starring in and directing the film, has requested Louie specifically for the role of a policeman. But Louie doesn’t want to take the part. His agent becomes so furious with him that he has a heart attack on the spot and this forces Louie to take the part out of guilt.

On the movie set, Louie ruins every take due to his inability to portray the right emotion during his big scene with Matthew Broderick. He confesses to Matthew that he doesn’t like acting, but his admission irritates the director. Hoping to clear his head, Louie takes a walk, and goes into a convenience store to buy a donut. At the same time, a couple of thugs enter the store and attempt to rob the place.

10:00pm – Monday, June 18 on ABC2

Performing his stand-up, Louie talks about the time he asked his father about sex. He recalls that he was seven years old at the time of the conversation, and his father essentially told a child how to make love to a 40-year-old woman.

Later, Louie is on a date with a woman, and they decide to stop for donuts and coffee. They’re enjoying an intimate conversation in the donut shop when a group of raucous teenage boys arrive. After Louie requests that the teenagers keep the noise down, one of them starts taunting him. Forced to placate the teen in order to keep the peace, Louie humiliates himself in the process in front of his date.

With his date coming to an abrupt end, Louie notices the troublesome teenager and his friends hanging around outside the donut shop, and decides to follow the teenager home. Two subway trains and a ferry ride later, Louie knocks on the door of the teenager’s family home and explains the incident to the boy’s parents.
