Man vs Wild

Bear Grylls has made another spectacular entrance on Sydney Harbour, this time jumping from a speedboat.

Earlier this year, when the adventurer was in town to promote his television show Man vs Wild, he jumped from a helicopter at The Rocks

Grylls, who is in Sydney ahead of a national stage tour, jumped from a speeding boat to a ramp at McMahons Point.

Grylls said he enjoys being back in Australia, whether it’s for work or to visit friends.

‘I love coming to Australia,’ he said.

‘It’s great to film in. We’ve filmed three episodes of Man vs Wild here now. There’s some of the great wildernesses in the world here. For me it’s a total privilege to work here but also it’s fun to come and hang out here as well.’

While Grylls may be used to taking on the wilderness, on Wednesday he will take on 10 Australian competition winners in challenges of their choosing.

The challenges include a lemon eating contest, table tennis, hand stand walking, frisbee throwing and paint ball.

‘I’m quite nervous because these guys have all had their challenges and they’ve all been practicing and I haven’t, so I think I’m going to get my backside whipped,’ he says.

Bear will be live on stage:
Sydney Convention Centre, Sept 2, Oct 16 Melbourne Convention Centre, Sept 3 Perth Challenge Stadium, Sept 4 Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Oct 14 Adelaide Entertainment Centre, Oct 15

Channel Nine are feeling the heat after airing a promo for Rescue Special Ops which bears a striking resemblance to one created by Discovery Channel.

Nine’s teaser for their show is remarkably similar to Discovery’s promo which features survivalist star of Man Vs Wild Bear Grylls scaling a giant letter form which spells out Discovery. Nine’s version features the Rescue cast dealing with word Rescue in much the same way.

Several shots are identical in style to the original Discovery promo.

A spokeswoman for nine has said the Bear Grylls ad was used as “inspiration, but w featured our cast, of course. The Style suited the show.”
