Mercy

Changes coming to 7TWO on Wednesday nights once Lost is done on May 26.

From Wednesday June 2, the night looks something like this:

CORRECTION:
7.30 Beauty and the Geek US. This is the premiere of season 5 of Beauty and the Geek (US) – previously not seen on Australian television. When first posted I said it was season 4 – but that is incorrect. FOX8 have recently aired season 4, which was also seenon Seven late nights last year.

8.30 Knight Rider. The remake of the 80’s series where David Hasselhoff made a name for himself finally comes to the Seven network, after originally being planned to air in 2008. The series did not do to well in the US, with only one season ever being made. The pilot can be seen on Sunday night May 30 at 8.30pm.

9.30 Reaper. Returns with the 14th episode of the first season of 18. Will most likely continue into the second season.

10.30 The Riches – starring Minnie Driver and Eddie Izzard about a family of gypsies on the run after stealing money from the extended family bank.

11.40 Mercy continues and plays out its last three episodes. Mercy has not been renewed by NBC in the US.

1. Seven will now add a Saturday version of Weekend Sunrise from 7am – 9am Saturdays. That means that Saturday Disney will move to 9am. The move is no doubt in response to the fact that Nine’s Today ratings are closing in on Seven’s Sunrise on a daily basis. Nine suddenly introduced the Saturday edition of Today around the same time GO launched to a very negative reaction. By Seven having Sunrise at the same time, the chance for viewers to jump ships on Saturday to Today is minimised.

2. 7TWO will air the Sopranos from Tuesday Feb 16, at 9.30pm after 24. The Sopranos was one of the shows promised to come to 7TWO when it launched in November.

3. Still on 7TWO, US drama Kings, starring former Home and Away actor Christopher Egan, will be the channel later this month. It will air at 10.30 Wednesdays from Feb 24.

4. Medical drama Mercy starts on 7TWO on Wed Nov 17 at 9.30pm after Lost. Mercy was bumped out of Seven’s schedule due to low ratings back in October 2009.

5. If you have missed anything on Seven, and don’t have the internet usage available to use the 7PLUS catch up service, than check your guides for numerous encores and repeats of Seven’s new shows on both 7TWO and Seven. Last weekend saw many Seven shows repeated on both 7TWO and Seven, with the two My Kitchen Rules episodes airing three times last week for example.

6. Lost - which premieres on 7TWO Wed Feb 10, will also be seen on Seven at 11.30pm for those who don’t have digital. But the double episode will be split up meaning that Seven viewers will be a week behind 7TWO viewers. Lost fans, time to get digital TV!

Programming info TV Tonight.

Air date to be confirmed. Seven have bumped Mercu out of the schedule. May appear on 7TWO at a later date.

MERCY stars TAYLOR SCHILLING as Veronica Callahan, JAIME LEE KIRCHNER as Sonia Jimenez, MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG as Chloe Payne, JAMES TUPPER as Dr Chris Sands, DIEGO KLATTENHOFF as Mike Callahan, GUILLERMO DIAZ as Angel Lopez and JAMES LEGROS as Dr Harris.

Thursday Quick Points. Nov 12.

Mercy. More programming changes – this time from Seven – with Mercy out of the schedule possibly to air on 7TWO at a later date. Replacing Mercy at 10.30pm Monday is a repeat episode of Criminal Minds.

Cops LAC – which is Cops Local Area Command. New for Nine in 2010 will be a Sydney based drama centred around a traditional local police station.

Nine – Will reveal their 2010 programming line up in December.

For those who don’t already know – Kate Richie will leave her post at NOVA FM to return to acting next year. Kate Richie of course was famous for playing Sally in Home and Away for 20 years. You can see her as a 6 year old in Home and Away the Early Years on 7TWO weekdays at 9.30am. Hi Milko!

The Colbert Report – seen on the Comedy Channel daily at 6.30pm, the talk show will also be on ABC2 next year.

Commonwealth Games – The games air on both Ten and Foxtel in October 2010. Ten and Foxtel will be offering advertisers a one stop point of contact to place advertisements during the Commonwealth Games. This will give advertisers the chance to appear over both subscription and free to air platforms during the games.

KidsCO – KidCo is a new channel aimed at 6 – 10 year olds and it launches November 15 on Foxtel and Austar as part of the new channel line up starting on that date. The channel promises to fill an apparent gap in children’s programming with appropriate shows for that age group. A few weeks later, on free to air, ABC3 launches Dec 4 6pm also aimed mostly at that demographic. Never before have their been so many choices.

As quoted in the daily ratings post:

Speaking of Seven, they are down last night. All their shows dropped including FlashForward now half a million shy of its debut ratings. As for Mercy, it sat third in its time slot and was even beaten by Little Britain USA. Mercy dropped more than half of the ratings of FlashForward. A very similar scenario on Ten with NCIS:LA and Three Rivers last Wednesday saw the medical drama Three Rivers axed. Could Mercy suffer the same fate? Another medical drama gone?

Well – not quite gone, but moved back to 10.30 Mondays from next week (Oct 26). Replacing Mercy at 9.30 in a hope to maintain better ratings after FlashForward will be new episodes of Criminal Minds.

Seems a bit of a waste putting Criminal Minds at 9.30 as the show does so well in an 8.30 time slot. But with the five main 8.30 slots consumed for the rest of the year there is not really anywhere else to put it. Criminal Minds at 8.30 has been seen to rate as high as 1.5 million. At 9.30, it should do around a million or so and will take that time slot away from Nine’s the Apprentice.

Perhaps a bit of a knee jerk reaction given that Nine went better than usual last night and that Seven usually wins Monday nights in any case.

- MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG (BUFFY, GOSSIP GIRL) AND JAMES TUPPER (MEN IN TREES) STAR

You haven’t seen inside a hospital until you’ve seen it through the eyes of those who know it best: its nurses. Veronica Callahan is one of those nurses. She’s just returned to Mercy Hospital from a war zone and knows more about medicine than all of the residents combined. Together with fellow nurses Sonia and Chloe, she navigates the daily traumas and social landmines of life and love both inside the hospital and out in the real world in Seven’s new medical drama, MERCY.

Nurse Veronica Callahan has just returned to Mercy Hospital after a tour of duty in Iraq. Though not afraid to bend the rules in order to save a life, her outspoken attitude might cause her to lose her job. While trying to get over her broken marriage to Mike, she catches the eye of the newest doctor, Dr. Chris Sands.

Meanwhile, Sonia, Veronica’s best friend, thinks she may have found the one; and rookie nurse Chloe learns the hard way what it means to be a nurse.
