The British comedy-drama about London’s criminal underworld – made famous in the 70s for putting the slang word ‘Minder’ into Australian and UK conversation – continues on ABC1.

This revamped series follows the escapades of Archie Daley (played by Shane Richie), a socially ambitious but highly unscrupulous importerexporter, wholesaler, used-car salesman, and anything else from which there was money to be made.

In the final episode, needing to raise cash for his potential divorce settlement, Archie spots a new up-andcoming boxer Carlo Rocks. Searching for a worthy opponent, he discovers local boy, Ryan Doyle. All is going to plan until Jamie finds out Carlo’s manager and lover is in fact Archie’s wife, Delilah. Furious at Archie’s involvement she sabotages the fight by encouraging Carlo to beat up Ryan. Carlo’s attack leaves Archie with the only option of asking Jamie to go into the ring instead. Archie needs to guarantee he makes his money, bets on Carlo and asks Jamie to throw the fight. Jamie can’t believe Archie would ask him to do this. Can Archie finally put his greed and pride aside and surrender to Delilah’s wishes, for the sake of his mate?

Archie ropes in the honest and unlucky taxi driver Jamie Cartwright (played by Lex Shrapnel) to help him with one of his ‘jobs’, ultimately becoming Archie’s ‘minder’.

Archie attends the funeral of business associate, Harry Grant. Harry’s young wife Maria is unpopular with the rest of the family, so Archie offers her Jamie as a minder. Feline lover Harry, has left all of his wealth to a cat sanctuary in his will. Maria however, reveals Harry had done a diamond job with Donovan, but has taken their secret hiding place to the grave. Jamie and Maria become close as they try to find the gems. Archie employs clairvoyant – Vlad, to help their quest.

As their trail becomes tangled, Jamie begins to question Maria’s innocence. Can Jamie and Archie locate the hidden treasure before Donovan maims them all?

Entrepreneur, Felix, and his wife Eve, are hosting a charity event in Archie’s warehouse. In a bid to impress Felix, Archie allows him to believe the Porsche he is minding for an old associate is his. Felix raises the bet, and to save face Archie stakes the Porsche, losing it fair and square. Refusing to return the car, Felix offers Archie the chance to win it back playing poker at his country manor. Knowing Jamie is a poker expert Archie puts him forward. Jamie enters the most dangerous card game of his life. Will his skill be enough to win the car and get them out of this tricky situation?

Episode Two: In Vino Veritas Archie has to rescue an old school friend, Maurice (Rik Mayall) when plans for his daughter’s wedding go awry.

Jamie is tasked with ‘minding’ Neil the groom as last time he absconded. Jamie spots him arguing with loan shark, Teddy B, and figures Neil has some troubles of his own. The minutes tick away and the ceremony looms closer.

Can Archie and Jamie bring calm to the boat and get the couple through their nuptials?

This revamped series follows the escapades of Archie Daley (played by Shane Richie), a socially ambitious but highly unscrupulous importerexporter, wholesaler, used-car salesman, and anything else from which there is money to be made.

Their first encounter is followed by shady business deals and a highly entertaining series of events.

Episode One: Better the Devil You Know Taxi driver Jamie is roped into helping Archie out of a fix with the infamous Gold brothers. Archie promises to persuade local landlady, Petra (played by Jenna Russell), to sell her pub as part of a huge redevelopment. When persuasion doesn’t work, the Golds supply Archie with lots of cash to make her budge.

Archie is also under pressure from bent councillor, Conway, to seal the deal. Archie manages to convince Jamie that if he helps him he’ll make it worth his while.

Can the pair pull it off in time and will it be enough to save Petra’s pub from demolition or Archie from further retribution?
