MTV has announced four new shows called The Heights, Epic Fail, Totally Clueless, and MTV’s This Is How I Made It. They range from docu-dramas to panel shows.

Helms and Hader join pilot

Ed Helms and Bill Hader have been added to the cast of a new comedy pilot from The Office’s Mindy Kaling.

MTV Networks Australia and New Zealand today announced MTV reality star Audrina Patridge will head down under to celebrate her brand new, self titled reality series, Audrina, in conjunction with MTV’s premier winter event, MTV Snow Jam.

Audrina’s visit down under will be in celebration of her brand new reality series Audrina. Audrina follows former “Hills” star Audrina Patridge into the next stage of her life and career, introducing viewers to a whole new cast of characters, most importantly her large, outrageous, Orange County family.

MTV Australia’s annual flagship winter event, Snow Jam, returns this year and is set to be bigger and better than ever!

MTV continues to reinvent the wheel in a way only MTV can with the exciting line up for MTV Snow Jam 2011 to be announced in the following weeks.

Lil Jon will join MTV to kick off MTV Snow Jam 2011 with a 45 minute performance on Thursday July 14 at a secret Melbourne CBD location, re-created into our very own snow village complete with real snow.

As a guest performer at MTV Snow Jam in New Zealand 2008, Lil Jon returns to join MTV once again, but this time on Australian shores, to get the party started as only he can. Rapper, music producer, entrepreneur and TV star; there is not much Lil Jon can’t do when it comes to getting crunk and busting beats.

For exclusive behind the scenes footage and to catch all the action from the MTV Snow Jam road trip, MTV cameras will follow MTV’s Daisy McKenzie-McHarg from her Twitter Tag mission, to the launch event and the journey on the party bus before closing out Snow Jam with a bang and a hangover at Burton’s Cattleman’s Rail Jam.

Sheen returning to sitcom this month

Charlie Sheen has been confirmed to return back to work on Two and a Half Men later this month. The troubled actor, who spent a short time in a rehab facility, will begin work on the sitcom in two weeks’ time.

Top Gear presenters labelled “brilliant talents”

Equality and Human Rights Commission chairman Sir Trevor Phillips has labelled Richard Hammond’s recent comments regarding Mexicans on Top Gear as “a bit of schoolboy provocation.” Phillips refused to condemn the presenter’s actions and instead called them “brilliant talents.”

MTV confirms second RJ Berger season

MTV has confirmed the return of new series The Hard Times of RJ Berger for a second season this year. The network has announced that the likes of Paris Hilton, Weezer and Vinny from Jersey Shore will be making guest appearances in its second season.

Keys and Gray head to radio

Sacked British football commentators Richard Keys and Andy Gray have signed a deal with TalkSport radio in the UK following their dismissals from Sky Sports. The pair, who were let go after they made comments on-air regarding female assistant referees, will now present a daytime football show on the radio network.

Kath and Kim to return?

There are rumours doing the rounds that Aussie comedy Kath and Kim may return after a three year hiatus. Actress Magda Szubanski recently confirmed a meeting with fellow cast members Gina Riley and Jane Turner as well as the program creators but any further information as off-limits.

MTV passes on new Lauren Conrad series 

MTV has passed on Lauren Conrad’s new reality project, saying it was not a good fit. The former Hills cast member announced a new reality show late last year but MTV say they will not be airing it despite the fact they “love” Conrad.

Rob Schneider pilot picked up

CBS has picked up a new pilot for a sitcom by Rob Schneider in which he features as a lifelong bachelor who somehow finds himself married and subsequently forced to integrate into a large Mexican-American family.

Coogan addresses Top Gear controversy

Comedian Steven Coogan has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding comments about Mexicans on Top Gear in the UK. Coogan says of Richard Hammond and his fellow presenters:  ”The Lads have this strange notion that if they are being offensive it bestows on them a kind of anti-establishment aura of coolness; in fact, like their leather jackets and jeans, it is uber-conservative… Big viewing figures don’t give you impunity – they carry responsibility.”

Glee and Boardwalk Empire successful at Golden Globes

Glee and Boardwalk Empire proved the big winners at yesterday’s Golden Globe Awards with the former picking up three awards and the latter two. Glee collected ‘Best Comedy Series’ as well as the two ‘Best Supporting Actor/Actress’ awards for Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer. Boardwalk Empire was named ‘Best Drama Series’ and Steve Buscemi collected the ‘Best Actor’ drama gong. A full list of winners can be found here.

Gervais doubts third Golden Globes appearance

Ricky Gervais has said he doubts he will be invited back to host the Golden Globes again next year following his controversial performance yesterday. The Office creator fired off shots during the night at the likes of Charlie Sheen, The Tourist and the Church of Scietology and says he will be surprised if they ask him to return for a third year in 2012.

MTV orders book adaptation

MTV has ordered a brand new series based on the book I Just Want My Pants Back. The series is reported to be a “youthful romantic dramedy” set in New York which focuses on 22-year-old Jason Strider as he and his friends negotiate the path to adulthood. MTV’s head of programming says: “[The series] found its right home. It has an amazing, authentic, 20-something voice, feels contemporary and relatable, and will connect with the audience.”

Anne Hathaway lands Glee role

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has confirmed that Anne Hathaway will film a guest appearance on the series. The actress will take on the role of a character’s aunt during her stint in the show’s second season.

Top Gear gets revenge on Stig

The Top Gear presenters have exacted their revenge on The Stig on a recent episode of the motoring show in the UK, by using cardboard cut-outs of the infamous test driver as target practice. Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond took part in a drive-by shooting challenge which involves firing at the life-size Stig cut-outs with Hammond turning his around and saying: “[I'm] turning him round so I can shoot him in the back, ‘cos that’s how it’s done.” The stunt was in response to the recent revelations in an autobiography by racing driver Ben Collins that he has been working as The Stig on the BBC show.

Apprentice contestant charged with fraud

One of the contestants on the latest season of The Apprentice in the UK has admitted four counts of fraud in court recently. The contestant was arrested for the charges before the show screened and is set to be sentenced early next year. Suffice to say, he was not hired on the show.

Armed woman sends TV station off air

An American TV station was forced to go off-air during a live evening news broadcast after a woman walked into the station’s lobby with a loaded gun held to her head. The North Carolina station bailed on its news broadcast in order to evacuate everyone from the building while police attempted to disarm the woman, She has since been taken to a hospital for mental evaluation.

Top ten banned MTV clips

The Hollywood Reporter has compiled a top ten list of the most controversial music videos that got banned from being broadcast on MTV due to their provocative or offensive content. Not surprisingly, Madonna features multiple times on the list. Check it out here.

Actress leaving Neighbours

Neighbours is set to lose the services of Jane Hall with the actress announcing she is leaving the soap after four years. Hall, who plays Rebecca Napier, will leave the show along with Matt Werkmeister (Zeke Kinski) and Erin Mullally (Declan Napier).

Radcliffe lands Simpsons role

Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe will make an appearance on The Simpsons this season where he will spoof the Twilight saga among other things on the Treehouse of Horror episode.

Trejo to guest on Modern Family

Actor Danny Trejo has signed on for a guest spot on Modern Family. Trejo will play a janitor on the sitcom who lands a job at Luke and Manny’s school.

MTV picks up new comedy show

MTV has picked up a new comedy pilot based on an Argentine show called Patito Feo which centres on and “ugly duckling” who moves to a new school and struggles to fit in. The show will be developed by Ugly Betty and The Office writer Teri Weinberg.

 

MTV announce US version of The Inbetweeners

MTV has ordered a pilot for a US version of UK comedy series The Inbetweeners. Casting is underway for the series, which centres on four awkward teenagers as they negotiate the perils of high school.

Old Bachelor gets another shot

The next season of The Bachelor will uses a Bachelor who has already blown his shot at on-screen love. The producers of the reality show have decided upon season 11 Bachelor Brad Womack to return for another shot at finding a wife. Back in 2007, Womack controversially decided to choose neither of his final two women on the show’s finale.

The O.C. duo to work on new series

The O.C.’s Rachel Bilson will reunite with the show’s creator Josh Schwartz on a new pilot which has been picked up by NBC. Unfortunately it looks as though the project is following The Ghost Whisperer and centring on a young woman who communicated with the dead.

Australia’s Next Top Model fail

A massive blunder of the season finale of Australia’s Next Top Model has seen the show’s host crown the wrong contestant the winner during a live finale. Host Sarah Murdoch announced the wrong winner, who preceded to begin her thank-you speech, before Murdoch received the correct info in her earpiece and was forced to awkwardly make the correction. Amanda Ware was finally confirmed as the actual winner.

Transformers actress for Grey’s

Transformers actress Rachael Taylor has signed on for a multi-episode arc in Grey’s Anatomy’s next season. The Australian actress is expected to play a doctor on the medical drama with her first appearance midseason.

MTV orders two new series

MTV has ordered two new comedy series for next year, That Girl and Death Valley. That Girl will centre on a 15-year-old who struggles through teenage life while Death Valley is described as a horror comedy. Each show will run for 12 episodes.

Bachelor lands TV acting role

The Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka has landed an acting job in a new “dark comedy” series which is being developed. Details regarding the show are yet to be released but Pavelka says filming has begun with an airdate of around January next year.

More guest stars for House

House has announced more guest stars for its upcoming seventh season in the US, with The Good Wife’s Dylan Baker and Alias’s Amy Irving each booking spots. The trio will join former Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer Grey in making an appearance on the drama series next season.

Doctor Who enters record book

Doctor Who has entered the Guinness World Records book in becoming the longest running sci-fi programme in history by notching up 769 episodes since it first aired in 1963. 

Entourage to conclude next year

HBO has confirmed that hit series Entourage will come to an end mid-way through next year. The series, which follows actor Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier) and his crew around LA, will run for one more season which is expected to be short, possibly only six episodes.

Timberlake on The Cleveland Show

Actor/singer Justin Timberlake has recorded a scenes for The Cleveland Show in which he voices a gay character in the animated series. It is understood that Terry falls for Timberlake’s character in the episode which comes out in the US next February.

Bourne director to helm MTV pilot

The Bourne Identity director Doug Liman is to direct a new comedy pilot for MTV. Liman, whose previous film credits also include Mr and Mrs Smith, will helm the pilot for I Want My Pants Back which follows a group of young men struggling to adjust to adult life.

Michael Jackson-themed Glee episode?

I Michael Jackson-themed episode of Glee is believed to be in the pipeline for next season with Idol host Ryan Seacrest tweeting this over the weekend: “Just talked to Adam Shankman from So You Think You Can Dance and got a pretty heavy hint that he’s directing the MJ episode of Glee!”
