My Kitchen Rules

Seven have released their advanced TV guide for week 13 (March 25-31) – the week before Easter non-ratings – but it contains ALOT of TBA’s – as the network leave it to the last minute to reveal how they have fit everything into that week which will include the final week of MKR, and the launch of the AFL Premiership season on Thursday March 29.

When it was revealed that MKR would go four nights a week in 2012, Wednesday March 28 looked like being the most likely date for the show’s 2012 finale, as the AFL Premiership season kicks off on Thursday March 29.

But with the addition of Sunday episodes, the finale is likely fall earlier in that final week.

Next week (March 18-22), promos during MKR suggest there will be an elimination every night of the week which will take the number of teams remaining in the show from 8 to 3 by the end of the week. So, going into the finals week, with just 3 teams remaining, there may only be two episodes. Could it all end on Monday March 26?

The finale date will most likely be revealed throughout the course of next week.

Elsewhere on Seven, the season four finale of Packed to the Rafters airs on Tuesday March 20. With Easter non-ratings around the corner, season 5 of Packed to the Rafters won’t air until some time after Easter. Apparently there will be no breaks in seasons this year, but that is not to say that season 5 of Rafters may not start until later in the year, with season two of Winners & Losers moving into to Tuesday nights after Easter.

At this stage, the whole night of March 27 on Seven is TBA.

Please Marry My Boy will have its season finale on Wednesday March 28, slated for 8.30pm at this stage.

Then, on Thursday March 29, the AFL season gets underway. AFL states will have games live on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night on Seven while non-AFL states get the AFL on 7mate and movies on Seven.

In non-AFL states, Better Homes and Gardens will remain on Friday nights during the AFL season, while the AFL states will see the series on Thursday nights – with the exception of the week of March 25-31 – where the only place I can see it is fitting is Wednesday night, given that the AFL is on Thursday night.

To other shows, and new Castle remains at around 8.30pm on Sunday, Revenge 8.30 Monday, followed by How I met Your Mother and Happy Endings, while The Amazing Race is on Wednesday night after the finale of Please Marry My Boy.

Full programming details will start being revealed early next week.

It’s a night of surprise tests and temptations tonight on MKR. First up teams have to cook with their most difficult ingredients yet and then the tables are turned. Teams strive for perfection to stay safe from the next sudden death cook off.

Meg and Simon have already been condemned to the elimination cook off while Megan and Andy are safe. Who will join them?

The contestants come into MKR HQ to se brown parcels tied up with sting. Everyone is perplexed. Manu then asks them what ingredient did they absolutely hate as a kid – we have blue cheese, offal, olives and more. Today they must use those ingredients. The 4 weakest teams will cook off for elimination.

The ingredients are – tofu, liver, olives, blue cheese, sardines and brussell sprouts

They will find their ingredients on their benches and here is what they decide to do with them.

Steve & Helen: Brussell sprouts with lemon chicken
Angela & Justine: Chicken livers with mashed potato and brandy cream sauce
Leigh & Jennifer: Sardines escabeche with parsley salad and crostini
David & Scott: Olive Damper, Olive Tapenade with cream cheese
Nic & Rocco: Blue Cheese and caramelised onion tart
Carly & Emily: Asian stuffed tofu

Now for a twist – they must use only one cook and it has to be the team member that didn’t cook last time – so that means it’s Princess Jen, Angela, Nic,  David and . For many it’s a two person dish and is causing them a worry. The 4 weakest teams will cook off for elimination.

Angela and Justine are fighting over mash – why oh why is mash a problem for these people? Maybe we need another cooking show on our screens just dealing with this mashed potato alone! Justine says the water should be cold – while Angela says hot! COLD!

David has learnt that if you want to make an olive tapenade – you need to put the blade in the stick blender! Haha these boys are a laugh. Ang is stressed to the max as per usual. Carly and Emily seem in a bit of trouble with their tofu that I thought they would be brilliant at. Nic and Rocco only have four minutes to get the tarts grilled and cooked, while Carly and Emily have no sauce – Manu won’t be happy!

Pete is dissapointed that the boys are doing yet another tart, but thinks that Leigh and Jennifers sardines are cooked weill it will be amazing. The judges are also worried that Steve and Helens Lemon chicken will over power the sprouts.

With seconds to go Nic drops his tart and ruins it – Megan and Andy think they are gone! The second tart breaks and it’s a disaster on a plate – the poor lads.

The judges go and taste all the dishes with their usual poker faces – until they get to Nic and Rocco – but Manu hopes the flavour is there at least. Pete isn’t happy that Steven has just admitted that he tried to hide the taste of the sprouts or that Princess Jen hasn’t filleted the sardines.

Overall Manu is impressed – here are the first roun results

Steve & Helen: The lemon chicken – shouldn’t of been there. They tried to hide the sprouts – the exact opposite of the brief
Angela & Justine: The livers shined and Manu says Justines grandfather would be proud. (Was his recipe – and Justine is teary)
Leigh & Jennifer: Manu has this on his menu at the moment …mmm….maybe he should get Jen’s recipe for the sauce! What a compliment!
David & Scott: They made the olives shine, it worked a treat.
Nic & Rocco: The blue cheese tart was really yum, it’s just a pity that the tart collapsed. It was also impressive they tried to make their own pastry in 30 mins.
Carly & Emily: The dish looked beautiful and the stuffing was the best of the competition – but the tofu was a bit firm

The two best teams will be safe while the remaining four will go to show down. The two teams that are safe are Angela and Justine and Princess Jen and Leigh!

They have just cooked with ingredients that will never win a popularity contest – but now they have the Miss Congeniality of ingredients … The judges want death by chocolate in 90 minutes. These are there dishes

Steve & Helen: Chocolate cake with chocolate ganache
David & Scott: Chocolate threee ways – sponge, ganache and mousse on a bed of custard
Nic & Rocco: Chocolate rum delight
Carly & Emily: Bitter sweet chocolate cake with chocolate mousse with a brandy and raisin suace

God you can do so much more than ganache and mousse people.

Nic and Rocco are blitzing chocolate ripple biscuits and Jen is very impressed seeing the boys do dessert for the first time as they are the dessert kings. I think Jen may have a little crush on Rocco! They are making little brandy snaps, strawberries dipped in chocolate and a two tiered mousse. Manu is worried about time. The boys are making some impressive toffee curls but they aren’t working, he perseveres and they are amazing – they will definately win this challenge. As they remove the plastic from the mousse it’s wobbly but stays. It looks amazing! These guys have talent.

David and Scott are making the mousse and biscuit base – where in their dessert will a biscuit base go? Oh ok they are doing a biscuit thingy as decoration! Their custard is liquid gold and they are over the moon. The ganache as they are plating bleeds into the custard so they decide to cover it with chocolate. It looks pretty average.

Carly and Emily are adding brandy to their dish and say it will be X rated! The girls cake is stressing them and are not sure if their cake is cooked as they take it out. They make their sauce and Emily thinks she’s drunk. Carly and Emily decide to do a biscuit crumb on the outside of their cake – but to me looks a mess.

Steve will be assisting Helen as she takes control – apparently it’s a family winner! The cake is rising well, but Pete wonders if a chocolate cake is enough. To impress they do strawberries dipped in cchocolate – guys – my 5 year old makes them! The ganach is a mess, they should have melted the chocolate first and then added cream but have whacked it all in at once. Pete thinks they will have to pull their socks up. As they take their cake ring off the cake crumbles. They then start putting their choccy decorations on hot ganache and guess what? It’s melting – duh! The cake is a train wreck and is falling all over the shop – it looks like puppy food or what they do after eating the puppy food, so they just cover it with raspberries.

Steve & Helen: The cake is not mentioned.
David & Scott: 3 ways turned into 5. Pete thinks it’s a decadent dessert and they have hit a bullseye.
Nic & Rocco: Manu is really, really impressed and the crunch of the snap with the soft mousse is fantastic. The presentation and flavour is magnificent.
Carly & Emily: Pete loves the crust and there’s alot of alcohol – Manu says if he ate it all he would be drunk. That would be great – eat it all!

Now for who is safe

David & Scott: A delightful dessert and had love in it. Safe.
Nic & Rocco: A delight – looked like it came out of a pastry shop. Safe
Carly & Emily: Loved the bitterness, but the alcohol content was just right before going over the edge. Safe.
Steve & Helen: It wasn’t up to scratch – it tasted nice but didn’t cut it – they are up against the Kiwis!

National pride will be on the line as Sydney duo Steve and Helen go to battle against Kiwi’s Meg and Simon. A bit of a shame as I really like both teams. From Sunday night on there will be an elimination each night.

Haha – at the very end, in a preview of Sunday, Steve yells out “Did you hear that – the loser is going home?” to which Simon replies “You donj’t have far to go”.

7:30pm – Thursday, March 15 on Seven

We’re back in Kitchen HQ tonight, and it’s anyone’s game. The judges say they have a 1 in 8 chance in taking the title. Pete tells them that with Easter just around the corner, this is their theme tonight.

They must create an Easter-themed banquet with seafood. They will be cooking for 40 VIP’s – family members maybe? Steve thinks they are cooking for the Dalai Lama. Umm…wrong cooking show!

The winners will be immune from elimination while the losers will be thrown straight into elimination. They will all have an hour and a half to prepare their dishes. They all head to off for a fifteen minute shopping run to ‘create’ their dishes. Afterwards, it’s back to Kitchen HQ and their time begins.

Steve & Helen: Sweet and spicy barramundi cooked with prawns – one fried, one baked.
Angela & Justine: Barramundi with roasted capsicum salsa and parmesan crusted mussels
Leigh & Jennifer: Tarator crusted whole salmon with tabhouli. Tarator is a tahini style yoghurt dip.
Simon & Meg: Stuffed baby squid with almond and lemon cous cous and New Zealand mussels
David & Scott: Basil and parmesan crusted salmon with kipfler salad and buerre blanc.
Nic & Rocco: Ocean trout Cartoccio
Megan & Andy: Warm ocean trout Nicoise salad
Carly & Emily: Japanese Seafood Platter

Andy has never filleted such a big fish. Manu says he is ‘killing it’. Manu comes over to criticize him and wonders where the rest has gone. Manu tells him that he would sack his apprentice if they did that.
Manu questions their stock, but Megan is confused as they aren’t doing a stock…But Andy said they were as that’s what he was doing with the rest of the fish – as a cover up.

Carly begins on the teriyaki sauce to marinade the snapper. It’s a bit too salty to begin with. Simon & Meg are cooking mussels in a Stuffed Baby Squid platter. Simon is cleaning the casings for the Stuffed Baby Squid and fears overcooking it.

Angela & Justine are not happy with their mussels and are in competition with the kiwis, who are also using mussels. But the barramundi will be the hero on their dish.

Rocco cuts his fingers and is made to sit out for a bit- Nic is on his own!

Steve & Helen are annoyed when they find out that Leigh & Jennifer are using their oven! Haha, they have to borrow it for their massive fish.

Simon and Meg begin to stuff the squid but it could be a bit messy. Meg is stressing but they finally get the tubes sealed.

Angela & Justine are very calm as they separate their mussels and cut them open. The mussels are flicking stuff into Angela’s face as she opens them, haha.

Carly & Emily’s teriyaki sauce isn’t sweetening and they are behind the time.

David & Scott are now working on their basil and parmesan crust. They are having a bit of a laugh as they assemble the mixture in the blender.

Jennifer takes the fish out of Steve & Helen’s oven, so they can use it. They are determined to do an oven baked and fried version.

Nic & Rocco are cooking and before we know it, Nic cuts his finger! What a run of bad luck!

37 minutes remain and all teams are quick on their feet. David & Scott are putting their crust on, but Scott forgets to put the mustard on first, so they have to remove the crusts, rub the mustard on, and lather it back up again.

Carly & Emily’s seafood is now looking and tasting great however they feel that their platter may be a bit too ambitious. The judges should appreciate their efforts today at the very least.

23 minutes remain and they are working to make sure there is no raw fish today, but with different sized portions of fish to work with, it may be hard.

Jennifer is about to take the fish out and Pete comes over, to the chagrin of Jennifer.

Steve & Helen are checking their fish, but it isn’t hot at all. Is the oven not working?! Steve thinks Jennifer & Leigh have sabotaged their oven, haha.

Nic & Rocco are working on their relish for their meal. Nic cuts himself again!

They begin loading their bags before shoving them in the oven. There are 40 portions there, which is a miracle.

David & Scott’s oven is a bit high and their fish steaks are dry as hell. He’s done them!

Simon & Meg are happy with their dish so far, and are working on their presentation.

Jennifer & Leigh are working on their Tahini sauce and they seem very impressed. Ten minutes remain and they should all now be plating up! They get their fish out of the oven, all of them, but some people have to put their fish back in- including Megan and Andy, Angela & Justine and Simon & Meg, who then decide that they can’t keep cooking their mussels and they must be plated.

Now, it is time for them to make their way through to the private dining room to find out who the VIP’s are.

They place their dishes on the table before Pete & Manu reveal who the VIP’s are. They are the friends and family of the contestants, as expected! It is a tearful reunion for everyone before Pete & Manu gets them to sit down and try out the banquet. But not just the family and friends; the contestants will also enjoy the dining experience. It’s a nice bonding experience.

Steve & Helen: Pete starts with presentation. He says their platter was ‘not a part of the competition’ as he couldn’t see the dish. But, the dish tasted excellent.
Angela & Justine: Pete saw both of them on the plate, but not both are speaking the same language. There has to be one head chef. He compliments the barramundi.
Leigh & Jennifer: Pete said their dish was the most beautiful out of everyone.
Simon & Meg: Pete thinks the cous-cous was disappointing. Manu didn’t like the stuffing at all. Overall, it was a lacking dish.
David & Scott: Pete says their dish worked. Manu loved the beurre blanc and couldn’t of made it better.
Nic & Rocco: Manu compliments the technique, but didn’t really like everything else. Pete says the salad didn’t work with the dish and was really strange and ruined the dish.
Megan & Andy: Manu was annoyed that he left so much fish on the bone, however said the fish was cooked to perfection. Pete loved everything, saying it was all well-cooked.
Carly & Emily:  Manu thinks they pulled off their seafood platter off. Pete loved the teriyaki fish.

So, who does the people’s choice go to? Well, it’s a tie. The two favourite teams are Megan & Andy and Steve & Helen. This now means that Pete & Manu should cast the deciding vote. Obviously, Megan & Andy win this one.

So, who will be going to elimination? The team, heading to elimination are ……Simon & Meg. They promise to regroup and refocus and come back fighting.

For the rest of them, they are about to be tested on everything they have been put through so far tomorrow night.

Thanks again to Courtney for tonights recap and tomorrow I’ll be back – sarcasm and all! – Alicia B!

7:30pm – Wednesday, March 14 on Seven

We begin in tropical Queensland, as we have been all week. The contestants rock up to a poolside meeting with the judges. All contestants, apart from Thomas & Carla and Megan & Andy are in relaxation mode. The latter teams are today, up for elimination!

Megan & Andy are confident and Thomas & Carla state how they ‘live through eliminations’. Pete introduces us to Mission Beach, before Manu debriefs on the challenge ahead. Today, they have to cook the best three course meal, tropical style, using ingredients that symbolize North East Queensland.

The hero ingredients they must use are Moreton Bay Bugs, Macadamia Nuts and Mango. They can use the ingredients however they like, but they must shine through at least one of their courses.

They have one and a half hours before the entrees must be on the tables. With that, they head off to cook! The pantry is open and the kitchen is small, which frustrates Thomas.

The teams are making:
Thomas & Carla –
Entree: Moreton Bay bug cakes ith sweet chilli sauce
Main: Paneer and macadamia Kofta with coriander sauce – oh no not kofta again!
Dessert: Mango cream with coconut tuile

Andy & Megan –
Entree: Mango salsa with prawns and rocket
Main: Angel hair pasta with Moreton Bay bugs
Dessert: Pear and macadamia tart with honey glaze

Cooking begins and its all hands on deck for the entrée. Andy thinks the judges will be pleased with his prawn and mango combination meal. They don’t want to hear a word about presentation. Carla is cutting up the bugs for their cake. She is doing one and a half kilos of bug. Each bug has about 30g- it’s going to be a struggle! Manu and Peter are on hand to provide commentary and they think that if Carla & Thomas get a good balance of flavour, they should be fine. They aren’t too keen on Megan & Andy’s fruit and seafood combination, calling it dated.

1:18 remains on the clock as Carla continues with the bugs. Thomas is cooking the main, chopping some potatoes. He explains that a Kofta is a Middle-Eastern meatball and he will cook an Indian-inspired dish of it. Pete is excited for this meal, as long as it is done properly. Thomas is cooking the paneer and is already getting a bit snappy as he waits for the milk to curd.

Andy mocks his competitors because they are still cutting up their Moreton Bay bugs for the entrée. Thomas is still on the main, but they have an hour left. Megan begins on her tart dessert. She is using Macadamia meal instead of flour for her tarts. She fears that the oil in the macadamia may prevent her tart mix to settle. Thomas is still on the main course when Carla finally finishes deboning the bugs. She now helps him on the main. Andy criticizes Thomas & Carla’s bug cake as he feels they won’t be able to taste his meal. Meanwhile, the four guest judges arrive.

The two teams are still frantically cooking, with elimination not an option for anyone!

30 minutes remain and Carla is starting on the sweet chilli sauce for their cakes. Thomas’ paneer is looking good, and he is so happy, however he has overcommitted himself and stresses as he starts on the other aspects of the main.

Andy is cooking his prawns and he is relatively calm under the stress. Thomas recognizes Andy as the seafood king but Carla is confident that she is a queen! She fries off some bugs in some oil, and Andy wonders why she doesn’t shallow fry them because the oil is clearly getting into it. Andy is now cooking the rest of the prawns, having finished the bite sized pieces of them. Not much time remains and as Carla plates and fries, Thomas is stressing more and more.

Megan is plating up while Thomas is sweating and yelling as Carla stresses to get his dish done. They are stressing and as Carla persists, Thomas is losing it, to the happiness of Megan and Andy, of course. With a minute to go, they should all be plating. Now Megan is getting stressed however her moulds of salsa are sitting perfectly on her dishes. Thomas and Carla begin to plate up. Soon, their time is up, and entrée is served!

They take their entrees out and the hour to prepare the rest of their main begins.

With that, the judges begin on the entrée.

On Thomas & Carla’s main, Karen doesn’t think it is the best way to showcase the bug as it has been pureed up. Guy does however like the taste of the cake but finds them firm. The contestants taste the dish and they think it is something they would eat at a fish and chip shop.

To Megan & Andy’s dish and Liz loved the balance of flavours. Tobie also thinks they have done a good job at using the mango and creating a dish that works with the temperature. Karen thinks they have fulfilled the brief. Jennifer though thinks the prawn portion is small.

Back in the kitchen, they are all working on their main. Andy & Megan begin on their pasta while Thomas begins the coriander sauce for his dish- Carla is timing him! This is the second time they have made a Kofta, and the contestants out back are fretting! They are trying to be gentle with their Kofta but Thomas is annoyed at how much oil they have put in. Megan is daunted about making pasta for Guy Grossi.

30 minutes remain and Thomas’ Koftas are breaking. He is not coping. Megan is cooking her pasta before rewarming the pasta through the sauce. Manu comes around and is surprised by how they have cooked the pasta already. He gives them some tips on how moisture can glug-up their pasta and Megan notices that her pasta is getting mushy. She has no time to cook more.

Thomas is really panicking now as they continue to break up. He is yelling at Carla as he tries to independently do the koftas. He yells at Carla again and everyone hears it. The koftas are a disaster. Carla is trying to get him to calm down, but his Koftas are not coming together.

Megan and Andy are working on the pasta sauce and five minutes remain as they twirl the pasta on the plate. It isn’t sitting right and Megan thinks her pasta is overcooked. Carla is counting on flavour to get the Kofta balls over the line because the presentation is certainly not there. As time finishes, Thomas is having a cry as he tells himself that he is leaving. But Megan and Andy’s pasta doesn’t look too good either. Still, Megan is confident.

The contestants go back to prepare the desserts- they have 30 minutes. Their time begins and the judges eat. Before that, Thomas tells Carla to be nice as this will be their last competition dish.

First up is Megan & Andy’s dish. Mixed review about the pasta as they all notice the gluggy pasta. Carly & Emily love the pasta. To Thomas & Carla’s dish and they all compliment the dish for its flavours and use of macadamia nuts. The contestants feel it is a step up on their previous Kofta.

Back in the kitchen, the two teams are well into their desserts. Thomas is cutting up mango and purees it with some other ingredients. Carla feels the dessert may not set in the heat of the kitchen and high humidity.

Carla finishes her tuiles and puts them in the oven however the force of the fan blows the baking paper over her tuilles, rendering them useless. She concedes that the oven is too high, alerting Megan, whose tarts are cooking. Yep, the oven, which was meant to be at 180 degrees, is too high- burning her pastry.

Megan and Andy are trying to salvage their dessert. Carla’s second batch of tuiles is out of the oven, but they don’t look too good. Now it is Thomas trying to relax Carla. Ten minutes remain but the tuilles are not hardening due to the humidity. Megan is whipping some cream, but she feels she is over whipping it.

Finally, Thomas & Carla’s tuiles work, but they have to fill them and plate them. Megan is finishing her dessert with 3 minutes to spare. But not all is done for their complex dish.Thomas fills the tuilles which haven’t quite set. The mixture spills out the gap in the side, but they have to plate it. Thomas has practically given up.

Thomas & Carla’s dish is first. Guy thinks it is clumsy and a bit floury. Tobie likes the marriage of flavours. Jennifer holds up a floppy twill, commenting to the table at how cake-y it is.

They then all taste Megan & Andy’s dessert next and they seem to like it, but do point out the over whipped cream.  So, with all the work done, who will leave?

Megan and Andy

With that, they leave the competition, straight from sunny Queensland. To finish up, we recap their time in the competition with a best bits package.

Thanks again to Courtney for  writing tonights recap and the next two to follow! Cheers!

7:30pm – Tuesday, March 13 on Seven

MY KITCHEN RULES is hosted by Pete Evans and Manu Feildel.

After racing for their ingredients, teams have to cook on makeshift camp kitchens. Their guests tonight are people who know camp cooking better than anyone.

When cooking in the great outdoors for camp connoisseurs, teams will discover it’s adapt or die. It’s tropical warfare in camp kitchens as teams fight to stay out of the next sudden death.

At Port Douglas the teams embark on an Amazing Race style challenge to source the best ingredients the quickest and get to their campsite first. The first three teams to arrive will cook mains and the last three will do desserts. After fighting, getting lost, some abuse to a cameraman from Princess and an egg hunt – the teams arrive at the site.

The teams arrive in the following order and are creating –

Mains
Simon & Meg: Prawn, scallop and avocado salad
Leigh & Jennifer: Beef fillet with green papaya salad with wing beans
Angela & Justine: Asian Style prawns

Desserts
Steve & Helen:Blueberry Mahalabia with strawberry sugar syrup and berries.
Carly & Emily: Passionfruit brulee tarts with drunken pineapple.
Thomas & Carla: Peach and raspberry streusal

Judges comments-
Angela & Justine: Prawns were overcooked
Leigh & Jennifer: Beef cooked to perfection, needed to be seasoned and rested. An uncomplete dish.
Simon & Meg: Was it a main or entree? Looked like a restaurant style dish

Steve & Helen: Clean, inviting and perfect for this environment – a sexy dish
Thomas & Carla: The base was burnt and peaches weren’t ripe.
Carly & Emily: Pineapple wasn’t drunk, but tart case amazing

The team with the weakest dish is yet again Thomas and Carla and they will take on Megan and Andy tonight.

7:30pm – Monday, March 12 on Seven

MY KITCHEN RULES is hosted by Pete Evans and Manu Feildel.

After the elimination of Peter and Gary, the teams head to Tropical North Queensland for their wildest ride yet tonight on the show.

Tonight, the remaining teams find themselves in Ingham, a small quintessential sugar cane town. Their challenge is to create sweet treats for the town’s annual Harvest Festival using an ingredient the locals know best…sugar!

The locals will vote for their favourite sweet treat. The team with the most votes will be awarded People’s Choice and be safe at the next elimination. And tonight, it’s not just safety up for grabs. The winners will also receive a very special surprise reward.

The pressure in paradise cranks into overdrive. Who will adapt? And who will melt under the intense tropical heat? In the race towards the final phase of the competition…only the best will survive.

The teams arrive at a carnival and they have no idea what is going on. Everyone is boiling hot. They are at the annual Maraka festival and each team has a stall. Tonights challenge is to use the regions key produce – sugar – and make it shine.

There desserts will be judged by the locals and the highest scoring team is not only safe but will receive a special reward, while Manu and Pete will decide the day’s worse dish.

They have one and a half hours and great Queensland produce.Carla and Emily are excited as dessert is their forte

These are the sweet treats that the teams are making

Steve & Helen: Fruit and nut scroll
Angela & Justine: Banana lounge cake
Leigh & Jennifer: Ginger Wafer with white chocolate cream and tropical fruits
Simon & Meg: white chocolate caramel mudcakes with brandy snaps
Thomas & Carla: Dark chocolate cupcakes with cookies and buttercream
David & Scott: Banana tartlet with marscapone cream and praline
Nic & Rocco: Tropical fruit and custard tarts
Megan & Andy: Tropical fruit crepes with passionfruit syrup
Carly & Emily: Choc honeycomb cheesecake cones

The two groups of boys making pastry in the heat is a real risk and Nic and Rocco seem to be fairing better than David and Scott, but Megan and Andy’s crepes are the real worry, Andy just can’t seem to get them to work. Carly and Emily’s cones are looking great and all teams are wondering what the suprise reward will be.

With an hour to go the teams start panicking. Steve and helen’s filo is cracking, Meg and Andy are nit picking each other and Carly and Emily are running out of time. The parade starts to head into town and everyone is stressed and princess has burnt the ginger wafers, Simon and Meg’s cakes are stuck in the pans and their brandy snaps are a write off. All teams seem to in trouble but Ang and Justine are looking good as are Steve and Helen and Nic and Rocco.

Everyone starts plating up and the the gates are open and here they come. Nic and Rocco only have four tarts made and people are loving Thomas and Carla’s cupcakes

Here is what the judges think.

Steve & Helen: Manu likes it – Pete doesn’t think it’s right for the weather
Angela & Justine:  Manu thinks the presentation is fantastic, but the icing is too sweet and gritty.
Leigh & Jennifer: The presentation isn’t great, but the flavours and textures are.
Simon & Meg: Manu thinks it’s lovely and light and Pete loves it.
Thomas & Carla: Pete loves it and Manu likes it but couldn’t eat two – it’s very sweet
David & Scott: Both judges love it, all the elements work together and they have fulfilled the brief
Nic & Rocco: Manu likes it but the pastry is too thick. Manu thought he was in Paris and loved it.
Megan & Andy: The crepes are cooked well – but where is the sugar element. Neither judge is impressed
Carly & Emily: Peter and Manu think it’s unusual but both think it works – it looked great and tasted great.

David and Scott were still plating up when their time is up, so less people had the chance to vote for them. At critique Thomas and Carla are shocked they have done so well while Ang and Justine ars shocked that the judges haven’t liked theirs.

The weakest dish is  Megan and Andy and they are heading to sudden death cook off. Justine and Ang are relieved and Megan and Andy are gobsmacked – but they didn’t fulfill the brief and was the least impressive.

The peoples choice winner is …..  David and Scott and they are safe! The special reward that they recieve is a tropical North Queensland holiday while the others head back to MKR – but there is a twist and they can choose another team to go with them – making that team safe from elimination and giving them a great holiday. They choose Nic and Rocco! So both teams are safe.

Tomorrow night they head to Port Douglas and it looks like the Amazing Race!
