Breaking Bad actor Bryan Cranston has suggested that his recent Golden Globe nomination for the show will open it up to an international audience. The drama series has had a limited broadcast outside of the US, nut Cranston hopes that audiences outside of the country will soon to be hooked by the series. “We would like the world to look and see the nature of this man’s plight,” he explained. “It’s a universal condition that he finds himself in [and] it’s not just an American story. We would love it to be exposed to the international public.”

Desperate Housewives creator developing new series

Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry is developing a new series called Hallelujah which will centre on a small town “which finds itself being torn apart by the forces of good and evil.”

Hugh Jackman made a rather embarrassing entrance onto the stage yesterday at the filming of Oprah’s Sydney Opera House show, after a flying fox stunt went a little awry.

The X-Men actor cruised in on a 100-metre flying fox rigged up from the sails of the Opera House onto the stage on the forecourt below but failed to deploy the brake soon enough.

Jackman injured his eye in the stunt that no doubt left his ego a little bruised as well, as he dangled from the harness saying: “I’m not 100 per cent, actually. I’ve hurt my eye; it’s not bad. I’m really sorry about this.”

An ice pack was called for the actor by Oprah before paramedics tended to him. He returned shortly afterwards with a small bandage under his eye.

According to NSW Premier Kristina Keneally, the filming of Oprah’s Sydney Opera House shows will not be disturbed by possible strike action by NSW Maritime workers.

With workers currently locked in  a pay dispute with the government, construction work on the harbour exclusion zone may not go ahead before filming begins tomorrow.

Keneally says that the possible industrial action won’t hinder the plans for the shows.

“If industrial action is taken there are contingency plans already in place,” Ms Keneally said.

“Exclusion zones will be implemented, and there will be no disruption to filming the Oprah Winfrey Show.”

Workers are seeking a raise of 15 per cent over the next three years as well as an improvement in working conditions.

In Oprah Winfrey’s only Australian TV interview, she talks exclusively to TEN’s Angela Bishop about her trip of a lifetime Down Under, jokes about her encounters with the native wildlife, and opens up about her challenging past and plans for the future.

Throughout Oprah’s Australian Tour, the media have followed her every step of the way, but only TEN cameras have been granted access all areas.

From speaking to Oprah in the beautiful surrounds of Queensland’s Hamilton Island, to exclusive behind the scenes footage from her Sydney welcome event, Angela Bishop has been given a unique opportunity to show viewers Oprah’s trip from the inside.

During the main interview, Oprah talks to Angela about her childhood and how privileged she feels to come from such humble beginnings to where she is today – literally being able to take over the entire country of Australia for a week. She laughs about her attempts to speak Australian slang, learns that the words “mate and darl” are key to charming the Aussies, and reveals the landmarks that she will be visiting as part of her trip.

She discusses her thoughts on the part she plays in today’s world politics, reveals her feelings on wrapping up her iconic show after an incredible 25 years, plus reflects on some of her celebrity friends who have been part of her success.

Oprah is here, and Ten’s Angela Bishop has the exclusive Australian interviews.

On Ten news at Five tonight, Oprah said that her itinerary had changed and that she was going to helicopter over the Great Barrier Reef, then go to Uluru. She has plans to also visit Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Tasmania and more.

Her guests today are spread over various locations including The Blue Mountains, Byron Bay and the Hunter Valley. Oprah will meet up with them at various stages before her two shows at the Sydney Opera House next week.

Angela Bishop will be on the 7PM Project with an exclusive interview with Oprah, and there will be a one hour special next week in which Angela and Oprah talk about what the future holds after her 25th season finale, plus she reveals what it is like to be one of the world’s most influential women.

Australians may have paid for Oprah Winfrey’s ten-day tour down under but when it comes to finding out exactly what their money has gone towards, there have been no answers.

Oprah’s 300 guests have arrived in the country to much fanfare, despite the fact they are an anonymous bunch of Americans and Canadians, but details of exactly what they and the talk show queen herself will get up to is none of our business apparently.

Despite using $4 million of taxpayer money to fund Oprah’s trip, confidentiality agreements have led to much of the trip being shrouded in secrecy.

The reason for the secrecy, Harpo Productions states, is for the security of Oprah herself.

However a spokesperson for Tourism Minister Martin Freeman said that the Government had not signed a confidentiality agreement but would not release details as “they are here to make a show for Oprah, not for Australia.”

Oprah has laid out the ground rules for her guests at the upcoming Sydney Opera House shows, including an order to bring no fire.

Among the list of requests, which has been made public by News.com.au, includes a specific order to not take along “fire(s)”, illegal drugs or in-line skates.

Other prohibited items at the tapings include weapons of any time, coolers and eskies, alcoholic beverages, balls, large purses, backpacks, cameras, inflatable objects, scooters and personal pets.

The Harpo Productions factsheet also warns viewers not to camp out in tents prior to the shows.

However the sheet does include some positivity, with a hint that bright colours are a must: “We recommend you wear BRIGHT colours; you will be on television!”
