Iconic US actress Lily Tomlin will be joining UK Superstar Louie Spence to host the FOXTEL broadcast of the 2011 Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade along with Charlotte Dawson, Ruby Rose, Matthew Mitcham as well as many special guests.

Arena will broadcast the event Live and Exclusive on Saturday, March 5 from 7.30pm. 

This year’s Mardi Gras broadcast will be camper and wilder than ever with new host positions, extraordinary performances, singing, dancing and explosions fit for the world’s most scandalous and spectacular celebration on earth.

The night will include more cameras, more stages, more cranes and our chopper in the stars with the route filmed from the start of Oxford Street, past Taylor Square and finishing on South Dowling Street. Viewers won’t miss a moment of the madness all helmed from Charlotte Dawson’s prime host position.

Legend of laughter, actor and comedienne Lily Tomlin will be at the start area kicking off the parade with a call to arms to all parade entrants, the cameras will follow Lily as she goes up the Mardi Gras route for the first time ever.

International dance sensation Louie Spence will be dancing up a storm in Taylor Square – he will be let off like a rocket in the crowd.

Ruby Rose and trolley dolly to the stars, Pam Ann will be roving the crowds live from cattle class on the streets. Courtney Act and Olympic Gold Medal winner, Matthew Mitcham will be interviewing celebs, including Chelsea Handler and other VIPs on the night. Zoe Badwi will do a live performance of her dance hit Freefalling.

By pressing the red button on their FOXTEL remote during the Live parade, viewers can see a multi-window screen with two different views. Choose from either the Live Studio Feed or the Uncut Parade Feed with LIVE DRAG ANALYSIS from FOXTEL’s very own team of fabulous Drag Queen Hosts.

Miss Penny Tration, Tora Hymen and Candy Box, will be commentating the parade when you hit the red button for almost three hours – completely ad free. Whatever your choice, Arena has all the Mardi Gras angles you want to see covered.
