Programming Amendments

Three times the GEM?

Maybe it is third time lucky for Rizolli & Isles? After the previous two times on GEM it was taken off after an episode or two – now the series is set to air from episode 2 at 11.30pm Tuesdays from Tuesday May 31.

Raising Hope Finale

Is on ELEVEN at 8.30pm, Tuesday May 24. The following week – Tuesday May 31, The Office moves to 8.30pm for a double episode, with Frasier at 9.00pm the week after June 7.

Embarrassing programming changes from GEM.

The last minute changes keep coming out of the Nine network. Not only do they change the entire night on GO!, but they also change GEM as well – replacing Embarrassing Bodies with Embarrassing Teenage Bodies at 9.30pm Thursday – now I know by the time I post this, the change has already happened, but it also applies to next Thursday May 19 as well. At least it is the same kind of show, but still, same day changes are just ridiculous.

GO! throw out your TV guides.

And, while on the subject, as already revealed in the TV Guide for GO!, GO! dumped Vampire Diaries tonight in favour for movies. No word yet what will happen next Thursday, but I seriously suggest the Nine network are in panic mode big time. The new look ONE is pulling good numbers, Masterchef is propping up Ten, and as a result, Nine are dropping to third in the ratings battle on many weeknights. Seriously, Nine, erratic programming won’t help you one bit. Has it ever in the past? Other than a random night here and there? Rant over… back to the subject of the day’s amendments – oh .. And guess who…

Nine still the one for programming changes.

Nine have changed their weekend encores. In Their Footsteps will encore at 2pm Sunday May 15 in NSW and QLD instead of BIG. Between the Lines will have another encore at 3pm Sunday May 15 in all markets.

Between the Lines encore

It hasn’t aired yet but Nine have already slated an encore late Friday night at 11.30pm, after the Football in NSW and QLD. So if you miss the premiere on Thursday night at 8.30pm, you have a second chance. Just another encore in the wave of encores Nine are doing lately.

No Ordinary Encore

This week, 7mate have again decided to air an encore of No Ordinary Family, at 8.30pm. Being on 7mate, it airs in HD. As a result, Garry Unmarried moves to 9.30pm while Reaper is out. Does not apply to regional NSW and QLD who have Firday night AFL on 7mate at that time.

The Amazing Race Finale.

The finale of season 18 of the US series of The Amazing Race airs Wednesday 7.30pm on 7mate. This comes two days after the premiere of the Australian series of The Amazing Race, which airs on Seven at 8.30pm Monday May 16. The following Wednesday on 7mate sees How I Met Your Mother back on Wednesday nights in double episodes.

Super last minute change – Twenty Men on GO!

Starting Tuesday May 10 – yes I know, that has happened already! GO have changed their early evening strip again. No more Seinfeld doubles, no more Spin City. At 6.00pm Monday – Thursday, in double episodes will be Two and a Half Men. That’s 8 more episodes of Two and a Half Men every week on GO! They took off from season 3, ep 1 on May 10. At 7pm, Australia’s Funniest Home Videos Daily Edition.

The Big C back on GEM

From next Monday, at 11.30pm, GEM will be replaying what was originally supposed to be on eof the flagship series for the channel – The Big C.

Tuesday night on GEM changes again.

At 7.30 next Tuesday May 17 on GEM, will be David Attenborough’s Bear – A Spy in the Woods. At 8.30 is Secret Dealers, bumping out Hoarders.

Jailhouse Girls move into GEM

Three part series looking at the lives of prisoners and officers at one of Europe’s biggest prisons. It airs at 9.30pm and 1.00am on Wednesday nights from May 18.

The Amazing Race Australia

Premieres at 8.30pm, Monday May 16. As this is a 90 minute episode, Brothers and Sisters will start at 10pm that night.

In Their Footsteps encore on Nine.

Yet again CSI: New York gets bumped out of Nine’s schedule. An encore of In Their Footsteps will air at 9.30pm Tuesday May 10 in stead of CSI: NY. At this stage, CSI: NY remains at 9.30pm Tue May 17.

GEM – late Tuesday night, May 10.

How Clean Is Your House is on at 10.30 and 11.00pm with new episodes, followed by NEW Without a Trace at 11.30pm.

Another Big encore

BIG and In Their Footsteps will both encore this Sunday afternoon on Nine. BIG at 2pm in Sydney and Brisbane, 3pm Melbourne. In Their Footsteps follows – that is in addition to the Tuesday night encore.

Come Fly with me on GO!

On Monday May 16, at 10pm, GO will replay Come Fly with me, which premieres on Nine at 8pm.

While Airways flies out of Seven’s schedule.

Due to poor ratings, Airways is out of Seven’s schedule this Thursday May 12. Instead, double new episode of How I Met Your Mother airs. The following Thursday, May 19, Mother remains at 8pm with a TBA at 7.30pm.

DWTS encore.

Extended news on Ten Tuesday May 10.

1. No love for Mike & Molly on Nine.

Nine have dropped the new episode of Mike & Molly, scheduled to play at 8pm Monday for a repeat of The Big Bang Theory. This change is effective immediately, so it applies to next Monday, May 9. New Big Bang remains at 7.30pm Mondays on Nine. If Nine do not play out the new episodes of Mike & Molly, they will end up on GO!, which are already playing repeats.

3. Australia’s Got Talent Encores

An encore of the first episode of Australia’s Got Talent can be seen on Seven at 3.00pm this Saturday, May 7. Another encore with both episodes that aired this week, can be seen on 7TWO from 10.30am this Sunday may 8.

4. Detroit 1-8-7 moves to 10-3-0

Seven have reacted to this weeks’ low ratings for the show, moving its start time back to 10.30pm from next Wednesday May 11. Its 9.30 timeslot will now be taken up with a Criminal Minds repeat episode. Note that the episode of Criminal Minds at 8.30pm remains as is new.

5. I Shouldn’t Be Alive isn’t on air.

As a result to the changes on Wednesday nights, with Detroit 1-8-7 at 10.30pm now, I shouldn’t Be Alive drops out of the schedule.

A number of changes to 7mate over the next few weeks.

Friday night programming:

Effective immediately, The Cape has been dropped from the schedule. The Cape, which was airing on Friday nights until April 22 has failed to attract viewers and has dragged down shares for 7mate on Friday nights.

Friday nights at 8.30pm will now be Garry Unmarried, followed by Reaper at 9.30pm.

The Event will now air at 1am Friday May 6 (Saturday morning at 1am) and also 1am Saturday May 14 (Sunday morning), and 1am Saturday May 21 (Sunday morning). Hopefully The Event will settle in that timeslot.

No word what will happen with The Cape (should I bother watching all the episodes I haven’t watched yet!?).

At 7.30pm Friday May 13, Gene Simmons Family Jewels will air in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, while it remains as TBA in Sydney and Brisbane. Gene Simmons then airs at 7.30 Fridays in all markets from May 20.

From 8.30pm Friday May 13, Garry Unmarried and Reaper air in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. IN Sydney and Brisbane, these two hours are also slated as TBA.

Further to the recent announcement of AFL broadcast rights, could 7mate in Sydney and Brisbane be at least trialling Friday night AFL on May 13?

Wednesdays.

The Amazing Race has a double episode this Wednesday May 4 at 7.30pm. It continues with its second last episode of the series on May 11 at 7.30pm, then the final will be on May 18 at 7.30pm. Looks like Seven are splitting up the final double episode into two episodes here – in the US, the final airs as a double.

Jersey Shore starts with a two hour free to air premiere at 8.30pm Wednesday May 11.

Change to Sundays.

As of May 8, Mighty ships, that was airing at 6.30pm, has been replaced with American Dad.

Seven have changed their minds about the two hour premiere of No Ordinary Family next Monday May 2. The show will now only air as a single episode at 7.30pm, with a repeat of Bones to air at 8.30pm.

The night now looks like this:

7.30 No Ordinary Family – premiere.
8.30 Bones Rpt.
9.30 Brothers & Sisters.

On Nine at the same time:

7.30 New The Big Bang Theory
8.00 New Mike & Molly

Also, on Wednesday May 4 will be a Touched By Frost premiere special, called Goodbye Jack. It replaces Pie in the Sky.

3. 7mate Friday April 29.

While Sydney and Brisbane see the AFL that night on 7mate from 7.30pm, the programming for Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth has changed.

At 8.30, The Cape will not be seen, replaced by a double episode of Garry Unmarried. At 9.30pm, Reaper replaces The Event, which moves to 12.30am. Caprica remains at 10.30pm in all markets.

The Event will also be seen at 12.30am in Sydney and Brisbane, after Caprica. Sopranos from 1.30am.

At this stage, The Cape remains at 8.30pm Friday May 6, with The Event at 9.30pm in all markets. The programming change avoids the prospect of split markets that night for these two shows.
