Psych

Bad news for Psych fans.

This is one of those shows that just never gets given a chance on free to air TV here.

As of next Wednesday, Feb 15, Psych is out of the schedule for ONE, replaced with more of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? – which now airs 5 times next week (3 on Monday, 2 on Wednesday), excluding late night and day time repeats of the same episode.

This comes after the show previously aired on Mondays, then taken off, then returned to Wednesdays just a few weeks ago.

ONE have also changed Saturday nights, replacing the WWE Experience and Fear Factor with M*A*S*H at 6.30, Hogan’s Heroes at 7.00 and encores / repeats of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation at 7.30pm.

So far, no new time for Psych.

Attracting a channel ratings share of over 4% last Monday, ONE’s highest general entertainment share to date, ONE’s Monday night comedy nights featuring Who’s Line is it Anyway followed by Jimeoin On Ice (Jan 23) and Carel Barron (Jan 30) continue for now.

In coming weeks, however, there are a number of show on ONE set to air season finales.

Team based reailty competition show Expedition Impossible has its season finale at 7.30pm Tuesday January 24.

Season finale of The Killing airs at 9.30 Wednesday January 25.

Ice Road Truckers ends on Sunday January 29, at 7.30pm.

The season finale of Blue Bloods will air on Monday January 30, at 10.00pm [UPDATED].

Returning to ONE, is a new series of Black Gold, which airs 7.30 Tuesday January 31.

Also returning to ONE is Psych – dumped from Monday nights a few weeks ago, the series whixh has been renewed for a 7th season in the US will now air at 7.30pm Wednesdays from February 1. It is followed by new Burn Notice which remains at 8.30pm Wednesdays.

Meanwhile, The Killing’s timeslot of 9.30pm Wednesdays will be movies from February 1.

Programming information subject to change, and correct as at January 19, 2012.

Some changes to ONE coming up for the week of Jan 8 -14 with Monday nights being over taken by comedy.

On Monday January 9, ONE will feature improvisational comedy game show Who’s Line is it Anyway? hosted by Drew Carey. Two episodes will air from 7.30pm, replacing Psych.

At 8.30 that night will be the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Presents: The Comedy All Stars Caberet, pushing Burn Notice out, and moving Blue Bloods back to 10.00pm.

Burn Notice fans fear not – especially as they have just reached episodes we haven’t seen – Michael and Fiona move to Wednesday nights at 8.30, replacing COPS: Adults Only which has held that timeslot for most of the time since ONE changed it format.

Psych fans, however – no good news as it appears to have disappeared from the schedule altogether – that’s not to say it won’t turn up on ONE or even ELEVEN in another timeslot, there just isn’t information on that yet.

The comedy night on ONE on Monday night is no doubt an experiment to see how it goes. The Comedy specials that air from time to time on Ten do OK – whether ONE lifts ratings on what has been one of its lower rating nights as a result, is to be seen.

Non-ratings, however, is usually the time for networks to give things a go to see how the audience reacts. These days though, we see more reactionary programming clutching for every last ratings point that we do bold and interesting programming moves to see what viewers chose – even though officially it is summer non-ratings.

UPDATE: Same programming for Monday nights with Burn Notice on Wednesday nights continues the following week Monday January 16 and Wednesday January 18, 2012.
