The new year is barely upon us yet we are being bombarded by countless sneak peeks and promos for new shows “coming soon” in 2013 – which will only ramp up as the year gets under way.

Believe me, the networks generally know when they plan to air most shows but constantly hit us with those vague words “coming soon” or “new in 2013″ as actual air dates are closely guarded secrets until within a few weeks prior to the scheduled date. Continue reading »

Puberty Blues and Redfern Now lead the way in the 2nd annual AACTA Awards with the ABC landing the most nominations. The 2nd AACTA Awards will be held on Wednesday 30 January 2013 at The Star in Sydney.

From Puberty Blues to Howzat and Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo – Australian audiences sure love their nostalgia with shows set in previous decades regularly performing well for the networks. Undergound: The Julian Assange Story definitely delivers on this point. Set in the late 80′s and early 90′s, this telemovie tells the story of Julian Assange and features retro props like computers from the time, “Telecom” telephone booths,  rotary dial phones, cassette players and mobile phones the size of a house brick. This week sees Ten start to fast track its US content is a bid to bring back viewers – take a fresh look at Ten. new NCIS moves back to Tuesday nights, coupled with NCIS: LA – the way it should be. Other new shows fast tracked include New Girl, Law & Order: SVU and Hawaii Five-O. Meanwhile Saturday night gets a bit of a wildlife feeling. Continue reading »
