Australia’s undefeated Queen of the turf, Black Caviar will star on Channel 7 this Saturday live at 4.20pm as she returns to the races at Morphettville for the Sportingbet Classic.

She’ll be aiming to set the Australasian record for the most number of consecutive wins and overtake Desert Gold and Gloaming with her 20th consecutive win.

Hosted by Bruce McAvaney, Seven’s coverage will feature not only a cross to Black Caviar’s race but also the Schweppes Oaks at 3.05pm AEST.

Australian Racing Hall of Fame trainer Lee Freedman joins the Wide World of Sports expert panel for Nine’s Spring Racing Carnival coverage which begins with Epsom Super Saturday at Royal Randwick, live from 2.30pm tomorrow.

Freedman, who has 124 Group One wins to his name, will appear on Nine’s Spring Racing Carnival for three race meetings beginning with The Age Caulfield Guineas Day on Saturday, October 8.

Nine will broadcast four Spring Racing Carnival days including Epsom Super Saturday, The Age Caulfield Guineas Day, BMW Caulfield Cup Day and Tatts Cox Plate Day – all LIVE on Nine’s Wide World of Sports.

Nine’s Epsom Super Saturday coverage gets underway at 2.30pm immediately following the Wallabies v Russia Rugby World Cup clash. Nine will broadcast four Group One races: the Epsom Handicap (worth $500,000, over 1600m), The Metropolitan ($400,000, 2400m), Spring Champion Stakes ($400,000, 2000m) and Flight Stakes ($400,000,1600m).

On Saturday, October 8, Nine’s racing coverage moves to Melbourne for The Age Caulfield Guineas Day at Caulfield, beginning LIVE at 12.00 noon AEDT. It will feature three Group One races: The Age Caulfield Guineas ($1,000,000, 1600m), Yalumba Stakes ($400,000, 2000m) and David Jones Toorak Handicap ($350,000, 1600m), plus the Group Two Herbert Power Stakes ($200,000, 2400m).

On Saturday, October 15, LIVE from 12 00 noon, Nine will present BMW Caulfield Cup Day. Highlights will include the Group One BMW Caulfield Cup ($2,650,000, 2400m) and two Group Two races: the Perri Cutten Caulfield Sprint ($201,000, 1100m) and the Tristarc Stakes ($181,000, 1400m).

Nine’s Spring Racing Carnival broadcast concludes on Saturday, October 22, with Tatts Cox Plate Day at Moonee Valley LIVE from 2.00pm. The 2040-metre Tatts Cox Plate – the weight-for-age championship of Australia – is the Group One highlight of the day, with $3 million in prizemoney. The support card includes four Group Two events: the AAMI Vase (2040m), Schweppes Stakes (1200m), Patinack Farm Crystal Mile (1600m) and Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m).

The Wide World of Sports raceday hosts Cameron Williams and Simon O’Donnell will be in the trackside studio, with Lee Freedman joining the expert panel for The Age Caulfield Guineas Day, BMW Caulfield Cup Day and Tatts Cox Plate Day. Lee’s daughter, racing personality Emma Freedman, will reunite with Melbourne Cup and Golden Slipper-winning jockey Wayne Harris to share their expert tips throughout the Spring Racing Carnival. Claire Bird, strapper for the immortal mare Sunline and Nine’s horseback reporter, will interview the winning jockeys after the finish.

At Royal Randwick, Andrew Voss will be in the thick of the action in the betting ring and Roz Kelly will be trackside for the race presentations. Throughout the carnival catch all the betting advice and late mail from TVN’s Richard Callander. Ben Damon will report from the mounting yard while Giaan Rooney mingles with the stylish celebrities to bring the latest fashion and racing glamour to the coverage.

The 2011 Sydney Carnival gets underway at Royal Randwick when Wide World of Sports broadcasts David Jones Australian Derby Day live on Saturday from 1.00pm.

It will be the 150th running of the Derby, Australia’s oldest thoroughbred classic. Derby Day is the first of three days of world-class racing scheduled for Royal Randwick this month.

Wonder mare Black Caviar, rated the best sprinter in the world, lines up for the $1 million Group 1 Darley T.J. Smith Stakes (1200m) on Saturday at 2.20pm. At 3.40pm the gates fly open for the $1.5 million David Jones AJC Australian Derby (2400m) for three-year-olds.

Nine’s Derby Day broadcast also includes the Group 2 Schweppes Chairman’s Handicap (2600m), the Group 3 Emirates Doncaster Mile Prelude (1600m) and the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) for two-year-olds. The Group 2 Yellowglen Sapphire Stakes (1200m) and Group 3 Patinack Farm Adrian Knox States (2000m) for fillies conclude the coverage.

Host Cameron Williams will be joined on the panel by Simon O’Donnell and Golden Slipper and Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Wayne Harris. Australian Jockey Club racing ambassador and keen punter, Roy Billing, will join the panel for the Darley T.J. Smith Stakes.

Ben Damon will have all the odds from the betting ring, Richard Callander will do the race analysis and provide his tips, while Anthony Mithen reports from the mounting yard.

Claire Bird, Sunline’s strapper and Nine’s horseback reporter, will interview the winning jockeys on the track while Roz Kelly hosts the race presentations. Meanwhile racing personality Emma Freedman brings all the trackside glamour, style and celebrations to the telecast.

Nine’s Sydney Carnival coverage continues on Saturday, April 16, with Emirates Doncaster Day from 1.00pm. The broadcast will feature the 100th running of the AJC Oaks (2400m) and the feature race, the Group 1 Emirates Doncaster Mile (1600m) carrying $2 million in prizemoney.

Schweppes Sydney Cup Day on Saturday, April 23, live from 1.00pm, will close the 2011 Sydney Carnival. Channel Nine will showcase four Group 1 races, including the Schweppes Sydney Cup (3200m) and Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m), both worth $500,000.

Catch the pizzazz and exhilaration of the BMW Magic Millions carnival and race day on the Gold Coast this Saturday live on Channel Nine from 2.00pm AEDT.

Nine’s Wide World of Sports BMW Magic Millions broadcast will cover all the big races live from Gold Coast Turf Club and showcase the highlights of the carnival week activities, including extensive coverage of the Magic Millions yearling sale.

On Saturday, Nine will cover six races including the $2 million BMW Magic Millions Classic (1200m) for two-year-olds, the $1 Million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) for three-year-olds and the Magic Millions Cup (1400m) worth $400,000. Channel Nine saddles up for the Spring Racing Carnival this Saturday with Arrowfield Stud Super Saturday from Royal Randwick – the first of four fabulous meetings to be televised LIVE throughout October.

From 12.30pm Nine will broadcast all the colour and excitement of Super Saturday, covering races three to eight including the four Group Ones: the Epsom (1600m), Metropolitan (2400m), Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) and Flight Stakes (1600m).

On Saturday, October 10 the action is live from Caulfield with The Age Caulfield Guineas. The 2009 Guineas (1600m) has attracted a vintage crop of three-year-old colts including the emerging superstar Denman, Trusting and So You Think. Nine will broadcast races three to eight live.

Saturday, October 17 is the BMW Caulfield Cup, Australia’s premier 2400m handicap and the most important lead-up race to the Melbourne Cup. Nine joins the action from Caulfield at midday and will broadcast races two to nine on the card.

Nine’s Spring Racing Carnival coverage concludes on Tatts Cox Plate Day, Saturday, October 24 from Moonee Valley. The Cox Plate (2040m) is the weight-for-age championship of Australasia. Nine will cover races two to nine.

At Royal Randwick, Cameron Williams and Simon O’Donnell will host Nine’s coverage alongside Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Wayne Harris. Anthony Mithen and Jo McKinnon will bring you all the action from trackside.
