Rove: LA’s debut on Monday night on FOX8 attracted 440,000 viewwrs, making the show amongst one of the most watched programs on PAY TV ever, other than major sporting events.

The show has been sold to the UK and NZ – airing on E! UK and TV3 in NZ.

Back when Rove was on Ten, his Sunday night talk show used to air in NZ on Friday nights.

On September 19, two Aussies are bringing their US based shows to Foxtel. Curtis Stone is hosting the new series of Top Chef Masters, while Rove McManus is to debut his new talk show on Fox 8 at 8.30pm.

Top Chef Masters
Curtis Stone of Celebrity Apprentice and Surfing The Menu, will serve as the host of season three of Top Chef Masters, and the sexy Aussie chef couldn’t be happier about being on the other side of the challenges this time around.

“I think it’s good to have a chef on there who can empathize with the other chefs during the competitions,” Curtis told Slashfood.com. “I’ll be on the judges panel, but I’m not going to cast advice, because I don’t want to judge my peers.

“Top Chef Masters is a whole different ball game,” says Stone. “Top Chef is a great show, but with Masters, these guys are seriously established chefs on the restaurant scene with Michelin stars, James Beard awards, and all that stuff.”

Definitely a little more refined than Curtis Stone’s competitors on Celebrity Apprentice.

“The Apprentice was bizarre,” says Stone. “I was sitting there before the first day and Cyndi [Lauper] was sort of singing to herself and I was thinking, ‘What am I doing here with all of these freaks?’ But you know what? I made a lot of good friends from it.”

Top Chef Masters Season 3 will air on Arena on Monday September 19 at 8.30pm.

Rove LA
Apparently with a silmilar format to his show on Ten, Rove is headed back to our screens from Los Angeles in a new celebrity based variety show. McManus told the Herald Sun, “It will be that talk-and-variety style of show that I like doing, but a more simplified version.”

Rove LA will film in front of a live syudio audience in LA and be broadcast here within 48 hours, not live obviously, due to the time difference. Rove has made some great trailers that can be viewed on the Fox 8 website, spoofing Foxtel shows, Falling Skies, The Real Housewives and Deadliest Catch.

Rove LA will air on Monday September 19 at 8.30pm, on Fox 8.

FOXTEL today announced that Rove McManus will return to Australian television in 2011 – exclusively on FOXTEL – to host a new talk show on FOX8.

The one hour weekly program – ROVE LA – is to be filmed in Los Angeles and will be produced by Roving Enterprises. The exclusive series will premiere on FOX8 later this year.

Each week, ROVE LA will be a postcard home from the multi-Award winning comedian and filmed in front of an intimate audience in a Hollywood studio. Celebrity guests will feature, as well as field stories from Rove while he acquaints himself with the American way of life.

On his return to Australian TV, Rove said:  “While it has been great to rest, recharge and get to know LA over the past 12 months, I have really missed the adrenaline rush of a TV studio and doing what I love most. I’m excited to be back, excited to be with FOXTEL and excited to be doing a show from a country that will give me plenty to share with everyone back home. Now if only I can get the exchange rate going in the right direction…”

FOXTEL Executive Director of Television, Brian Walsh, said: “It is an under-statement to say we are excited that Rove is joining FOXTEL. His passion and enthusiasm for this project is enthralling, and after a well earned break it will be great to have him back on Australian television again.”

“Every Australian television network was chasing Rove and I am delighted that he chose FOXTEL. It is an absolute vote of confidence by one of our brightest and most successful television performers that he chose FOXTEL as the future and indeed, his future.

This series will be unique. It will see Rove return to some of his comic roots and will have all the energy and spontaneity of a studio show in front of a live audience. It also promises some of Hollywood’s biggest names as guest stars.

FOXTEL intends for this to be a longterm partnership. We are already planning more show ideas well into 2012. This is a landmark deal for FOXTEL,” he said.

Several media reports are suggesting that Rove McManus is set to make a return to Australian TV.

It is believed that the former darling of TEN will return with a new intimate talkshow on Foxtel which he will shoot from Los Angeles.

McManus has been in LA for the most part since leaving his Rove show on TEN in 2009, where he attempted unsuccessfully to get a pilot series called Say It Now off the ground.

Stay tuned.

The former Rove team member made the announcement on air on Tuesday that he will leave the show at the end of the year.

“I signed up for one year and ended up staying for two,” Shelton said.

“Monty and Wippa are and always will be two of my closest friends and I’ll definitely miss seeing them at work every day but I’m excited about the chance to throw myself back into TV full time and re-engaging with all those opportunities.”

Shelton will work alongside Hamish and Andy in attempting to launch a show on an Australian network next year.

Rove McManus is close to securing a fulltime gig on US television after making the move to Los Angeles.

The Australian comedian has filmed a pilot for a new comedy talk show on daytime TV for CBS, who is developing the series.

With a working title of Say It Now, the show’s first outing involved actress Valerie Bertinelli who appears on the hit new sitcom Hot In Cleveland.

It is believed the show is being lined up to replace long-running soap As The World Turns which has run on the network for 53 years.

Rove made the move to LA following the cancellation of his Australian show by Ten. He has been doing the rounds in the US performing at various comedy gigs and will next appear at the Just For Laughs festival in Montreal, Canada.
