RSPCA Animal Rescue

In the first week of Olympics, Seven loads up its schedule with a total of four episodes of Once Upon A Time, suggesting that the network are trying to get through the remaining episodes over the next two weeks – but will fans commit to so many hours of the same show in the one week? Meanwhile, RSPCA Animal Rescue returns in double episodes on Wednesdays and Winners & Losers remains in its usual timeslot. But what about The Amazing Race Australia? Continue reading »

After a week of low ratings, Seven have changed their minds about what to air at 7pm on their main channel. RSPCA Animal Rescue is out.

The network may be toying with the idea of not necessarily stripping the same show for 7pm weeknights.

On Monday night (tonight) at 7pm is Inside Queen Mary 2, then on Tuesday night is Mighty Ships. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday is Highway Patrol.

In previous years, How I Met Your Mother used to fill the 7pm weeknight void during summer. How I Met Your Mother currently airs on 7mate 7pm weeknights (as well as a few other times).

The Wild Boys have trotted away, Three Wishez have won X Factor (well, that’s my prediction anyway) and Beauty and the Geek finishes for its third season. It can only mean one thing - time for summer TV, which this year, will last for one more week than usual – with 2012 ratings season not kicking off until February 12, 2012.

Seven have released their guide for the first week of non-ratings, which, although includes a few TBA’s shows what we can expect from the network in December. The full summer schedule will be released next Monday on Throng.

Some updates to Seven programming in coming weeks.

The Amazing Race moves to 7.30 Thursdays from this Thursday, October 7. At 8.30 this Thursday is a Criminal Minds repeat, followed by How I Met Your Mother repeats. Programming for next Thursday, October 14, is the same. On October 21, however, 8.30 onwards is TBA. It is likely that Beauty and the Geek Australia season 2 will return to Thursday 8.30 from October 21.

With the Final of Four Weddings airing Tuesday October 12, the vacated timeslot of 7.30 Tuesday will be occupied by double episodes of RSPCA Animal Rescue from October 19. That move rules out the rumour of Iron Chef Australia debuting at that time – at least for that week anyway.

Looks like we will finally see new episodes of Bones from Sunday, October 17, at about 9pm, after the X Factor. Seven have been airing repeats of the series, starting as late as almost 10pm after the X Factor. Although the new series started in the US two weeks ago, Seven have opted to stick with repeats until the X Factor live shows were able to finish earlier.

On Wednesday nights at 9.30pm, Seven have chosen to stick with City Homicide repeats, after the new episodes airing at 8.30 Wednesdays. This is the case for Wednesday October 6 and 13, with October 20 yet to be decided.

The RSPCA was yesterday asked to review its agreement with Seven’s reality show RSPCA Animal Rescue.

The move comes after a New South Wales government inquiry decided on a recommendation that the RSPCA re-evaluate their choice to be associated with the Seven show after a raid on a Gunnedah wildlife park.

Back in February this year, a camera crew accompanied by RSPCA inspectors visited the Waterways Wildlife Park and found 8 koalas deemed to be stressed, dehydrated and malnourished.

One of the park’s co-owners has spoken out saying that the issue was made a lot more difficult having cameras there at the time.

“To me it was just setting up the whole scene for a TV program, just to get an expose for the film crew. And really on the day I just couldn’t understand the whole thing,” said Nancy Small.

Meanwhile Steve Coleman from the RSPCA agrees that sometimes the cameras may be a hindrance: “…..the involvement of Animal Rescue in some quarters has been considered salt in the wound. That is a risk that any organisation takes when they involve shows such asAnimal Rescue and it clearly escalated on this occasion.”

The inquiry recommended that the RSPCA makes sure that all camera crews for Animal Rescue gains written consent from any park it may visit for filming of the show.

7:30pm – Monday, August 23 on Seven

This week on RSPCA ANIMAL RESCUE, the RSPCA mobilise a team to save the life of a badly burnt cat called Snowy who was brought into the shelter after being deliberately set alight.

As Snowy makes extraordinary progress under the care of vet Kate Mills, the RSPCA launch an investigation to find the person who committed this terrible crime.

Meanwhile Inspector Travis Cooper discovers an injured fifteen-year old dog called Horace living in the back seat of a car. But Horace’s owner, who says he loves him, hasn’t the funds to take him to a vet.

7:30pm – Monday, August 16 on Seven

This week on RSPCA ANIMAL RESCUE, RSPCA inspectors discover a cat hoarders’ house is overrun with sick and hungry cats and a nasty confrontation with the owner ensues; an escaped goat creates havoc on a busy highway in Melbourne; and when Melbourne Inspectors seize two emaciated and neglected security guard dogs, the resulting prosecution becomes one of the hardest fought court battles in Australian RSPCA history.

The X Factor will premiere on Seven at 7.30pm, Monday August 30. It’s first episode will be 90 minutes, and will continue at 7.30pm on the following three nights with audition episodes.

As a result, RSPCA Animal Rescue and Under the Hammer will both have season finales on Monday August 23 and The Matty Johns show for Sydney and Brisbane will move to 8.30pm for that week only. Minute to Win it was already finishing on Tuesday Aug 24, while World’s Strictest Parents will have a week off.

The 90 minute premiere of X Factor on Monday August 30 means that Criminal Minds and Covert Affairs will be pushed back half an hour, starting at 9pm and 10pm respectively. The X Factor on Tuesday Aug 31, Wednesday Spet 1 and Thursday Sept 2 will each be 60 minute episodes, finishing around 8.30pm.

Dancing with the Stars has its grand final on Sunday August 29 over two and a half hours from 7.30pm. The following week could see The X Factor slot into a Sunday night timeslot as well.

The X Factor will also be encored on 7TWO the following day. Tuesday Aug 31 at 3pm, then 3.30pm on Wed, Thur and Fri Sept 1,2 and 3.

Regular programming for the X Factor is most likely to be at least Monday and Tuesday nights at 7.30, with the possibility of a Sunday night show as well. All that is to be confirmed for the week starting September 5 – which could also be the week that Ten launches Junior Masterchef.

7:30pm – Monday, August 9 on Seven

This week on RSPCA ANIMAL RESCUE, the intriguing case of a Maltese terrier found abandoned at a vacant suburban property; an orphan kitten is found clinging to life amongst a thorny blackberry bush in a Melbourne industrial park; and in rural NSW, the RSPCA struggle to wrangle a stallion, two emaciated horses, a foal and a pregnant mare abandoned in a paddock full of rusted metal and old car bodies.

Narrated by ANTHONY FIELD, RSPCA ANIMAL RESCUE follows Inspectors and staff of the RSPCA as they rescue, protect and prevent cruelty to the animals of Australia.

Looks like Highway Patrol on Seven Monday July 26 was only a one off again as RSPCA Animal Rescue returns to Seven at 7.30 Mondays from August 2. The new series Under the Hammer remains at 8pm.

Having Thank God You’re Here repeats on Tuesday nights, after Packed to the Rafters may only be temporary as the network ramps up promotion of up and coming series Parenthood. Popular both overseas and in downloads, the show is most likely to premiere 9.30pm Tuesday August 10. Both the 9.30 and 10.30 timeslots for that night show as TBA in advanced guides.

The extra and third episode of How I Met Your Mother on Thursday 9.30pm in the Sydney and Brisbane markets remains for July 29, while A Touch of Frost airs in AFL markets at 8.30pm that night, with How I Met Your Mother on at 7.30. Cougar Town airs at 10pm in Sydney and Brisbane and 10.30 in AFL markets, with True Beauty following an hour later.

A week later – Thursday August 5, the season final of Cougar Town will be aired, while the season final of True Beauty airs late August 12 – opening up Thursday nights on Seven for a complete new line up. Cougar Town’s timeslot sits as a TBA August 12.
