This This program will take you behind the scenes of FOX8 program will take you behind the scenes of FOX8 s’s new teen show SLiDE and introduce you to the SLiDE 5 new teen show SLiDE, and introduce you to the SLiDE 5 characters and their lives in Brisbane.

SLiDE is devised as a multiplatform experience that stands to revolutionise how television programs connect and communicate with the viewers, and give the viewer more of an insight into the SLiDE world. You can watch it, play it and share it.

SLiDE, a furiously funny and fearlessly frank series that follows the exploits of five 17-year-olds smashing their way into adulthood, will premiere on August 16, Tuesdays at 7.30pm AEST exclusively on FOX8.

Shot entirely on location in Brisbane, this uniquely Australian 10-part series was specifically created for FOX8, and is co-produced by Playmaker Media (David Taylor/David Maher) and Hoodlum (Nathan Mayfield/Tracey Robertson).

The series stars the SLiDE five.  A group of young and talented actors –  Gracie Gilbert (as Tammy), Adele Perovic (as Eva), Emily Iris Robins (as Scarlett), Ben Schumann (as Ed) and Brenton Thwaites (as Luke).

Character driven, optimistic, irreverent and unpredictable, SLiDE is all about surviving your teenage years with a smile. Together the SLiDE five capture the best moments of that fleeting once-in-a-lifetime zone between childhood and adulthood, when your life is exhilarating, exciting and terrifying. Each episode takes place over the course of 24 hours and is built around the idea of a group heist that leads to these unexpected first-time experiences. They will encounter every manner of obstacle in their quests to steal experiences they’re not entitled to and nothing will dampen their outlook or spirit.

SLiDE differs with the involvement of its actual audience. As executive producer David Taylor explains: “From the outset we didn’t assume what 17-year-olds wanted in a drama series or how they wanted it, we asked them.  FOXTEL embraced this ‘user driven’ approach from the first pitch and it became the SLiDE way from that point onwards. Our aim was for SLiDE to be optimistic, upbeat and funny. We learned from this demographic that they didn’t want it to be bleak and it needed to be like nothing else on TV. Importantly, they wanted a sense of ownership.”

The collaboration didn’t stop there as executive producer Tracey Robertson adds: “Having a dialogue with 17-year-olds was essential through this whole process, through the scriptwriting, through the design, through all the testing. Instead of coming from a ‘we know what you think perspective’, we’ve invited them in.”

“We at FOX8 have been passionate about SLiDE since its very beginning,” said Duane Hatherly, Group Channel Manager FOX8, ARENA & Bio. “Every detail from the young cast, to the locations, shooting style and music right through to the deep online offering has been scrutinised and tailored to our audience to deliver authenticity with a degree of humour. It is one of FOX8’s top priorities for the year and we have high hopes that it will resonate strongly with our audience.”

SLiDE goes to its audience and is devised as a multiplatform experience that stands to revolutionise how television programs connect and communicate with the viewers. In addition to tuning into the show each week on FOX8, you will be able to experience SLiDE on the internet at FOX8.tv by watching a webisode series in the lead up to the program on air and after each episode on FOX8. The webisodes were shot as part of the series by the unit crew with SLiDE’s main DP (director of photography) and directors.

SLiDE migrates across different platforms so the audience is able to interact with the SLiDE characters via social media, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter (the five lead character’s Twitter profiles), Tumblr blog and MySpace. FOX8.tv offers a content rich website updated throughout the series including live action video scenes, behind the-scenes footage, games, graphic novels, music reviews, polls and quizzes so the audience has a more connected experience to the whole world of SLiDE.

SLiDE’s financing partners include Screen Australia and Screen Queensland, with Fremantle Media Enterprises handling international distribution.
