Hey guys, this is a trial for a segment that may debut in full in 2012. Basically, fans of other Throng sites may notice that they do Morning Briefings. Currently, Throng Australia doesn’t do these as we opt to discuss news topics in full. However, there are some news items that are quite obscure and may not need as much discussion. These will be mentioned here. Also note that this is a daily dosage, and may not be posted in the mornings.

Comedy Central has ordered three more seasons of South Park, extending the Emmy-winning series through 2011.

In addition to the pact ordering at least 42 new South Park episodes, Comedy Central also announced that the network will launch South Park Digital Studios with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone.

“Three more years of South Park will give us the opportunity to offend that many more people,” Stone says. “And since Trey and I are in charge of the digital side of South Park, we can offend people on their cell phones, game consoles, and computers too. It’s all very exciting for us.”

South Park Digital Studios will include the formation of a digital animation studio at the show’s Los Angeles headquarters as well as serving as a clearinghouse for the brand’s integration into all manner of non-television platforms. At the centerpiece of the company’s plans is a relaunched SouthParkStudios.com website, which will show off all of its new bells and whistles in early 2008.

Parker and Stone will develop new projects through South Park Digital Studios, with Comedy Central holding a first-look option on anything coming out of the deal.

The previous South Park deal at Comedy Central ran through 2008.

“This extension and the formation of the joint venture are the beginnings of a new era for South Park and Comedy Central and a natural evolution of our long-term and prosperous relationship with Trey and Matt,” says Doug Herzog, president of the MTV Networks’ Entertainment Group. “With the new partnership in South Park Digital Studios and the creation of the digital animation studio, we have a tremendous opportunity to truly maximize the potential of the franchise and the incredible creative talents of Matt and Trey across every imaginable platform.”

UPDATED – The Ben Elton encore on GO! is now 11pm.

GO! – the home of Nine’s sitcom encores – will now be encoring Ben Elton: Live From Planet Earth on Wednesday night, at 11.00pm.

Big Bang is now at 10.30 – an encore of the one on Nine at 7.30pm, and Mike and Molly is no longer encored that night. No word yet of a Mike and Molly encore – maybe Thursday night? We wait for more programming changes…

Original post follows – maybe GO! read what I wrote here and changed it accordingly!

This means, however, that the encore of Wednesday’s new episode of The Big Bang Theory will now NO LONGER be encored* (well, at least not according to these amendments) and the encore of the series premiere of Mike and Molly will move to 11.30pm.

GO! have also adjusted their programming to remove all those late night Two and a Half Men episodes that were nothing more than replays of what was on Nine at 7pm in any case.

Instead, more South Park.

Check out the TV Guide for GO! for full details.

* If any episode of the Big Bang Theory needed an encore, it is this one. It is up against The Biggest Loser Families and My Kitchen Rules – both are doing quite well in the younger demographics. At our house for example, to avoid having to watch Big Bang live at 7.30, we were relying on the GO encore at 10.30pm. Thankfully we have enough recording capacity to handle it, but others will have to make choices about which they view.
