The Killing

top-of-the-lake7Screen Australia and Screen NSW must be very happy with Sydney television production company See-Saw Productions right now after the glowing reviews its new series Top of the Lake have received.

Check out these ratings! IMDB has given it a 7.4/10.  Metacritic, 86/100. Rotten Tomatoes, an even more impressive 9.1/10.

The crime drama is set in the picturesque southern lakes district in and around New Zealand’s Queenstown and has all the beauty of Lord of the Rings.  It is reminiscent of The Killing and Twin Peaks and is a story that is as brilliantly told as it is visually spectacular.

A number of Australian and New Zealand actors and actresses star alongside two Hollywood heavyweights, Holly Hunter (The Piano) and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men) in the story about a 12 year old girl who is pregnant and disappears.

The story is dark, mysterious and intriguing and should be on your list of must watch viewing for 2013.
