Life implodes for Frances O’Brien, Head Librarian, when her horrible mother comes to live with her. Frances wants her husband, Terry, to look after her, but he’s busy with his Midnight Oil tribute group, ‘Oils Ain’t Oils’. Adding to her woes, the library is forced to return an annual profit. As the staff already struggles to enforce the return of a book, this latest initiative could spell the end of the library.

Devout Catholic and panic disorder sufferer, Frances O’Brien is back in charge of the library and breathing harder into her paper bag than ever. Her daughters are out of control, her marriage is on its last legs and Nada, her Muslim colleague, is being touted as the N.B.L. (Next Big Librarian). In addition, the hot young Christine’s return to the Children’s Library isn’t helping. Starring Robyn Butler, Roz Hammond, Bob Franklin, Heidi Arena, Stephen Ballantyne, Nicole Nabout, Keith Brockett, Kim Gyngell and Wayne Hope. With special guests including Vince Colosimo, Noni Hazelhurst and Hamish Blake.

8:30pm – Wednesday, December 1 on ABC1

On tonight’s final episode of The Librarians, the library fundraising thermometer has hit rock bottom since the closure of Showbiz Video. Xavier Fisher (Angus Sampson) orders immediate cutbacks at the library and Frances (Robyn Butler) must fire three of her staff members.

Realising just how much the library and her staff mean to her, Frances makes a stand and, determined to make Xavier Fisher change his mind, she sets off for Parliament House. Will she be able to save her staff? Meanwhile back at home, Terry (Wayne Hope), Bingo (Tony Moclair) and Biscuit (Justin Hamilton) come up with a plan for the tonnes of tuna still sitting in the garage.

The library is a hub of activity for Senior Citizens Day.

Ky (Keith Brockett) is busy conducting video interviews for an oral history project and Christine (Roz Hammond) is manning the Devonshire tea stand. With the tour-guide waylaid, Neil (Bob Franklin) steps in to lead a group of seniors on a historical walk of Middleton.

To Frances’s (Robyn Butler) shock, Terry (Wayne Hope) arrives with Pearl (Victoria Eagger). But the day gets progressively worse as Frances learns that Showbiz Video is in liquidation when the receivers turn up to seize all assets.

8:30pm – Wednesday, November 17 on ABC1

A security guard (Toby Truslove) catches Frances and Christine trying to steal the fundraising money from the library. What could drive them to such desperate measures.

Nada is visited by Jaffar Abassi (Mike McLeish), a very promising single man from the Muslim dating site. Only there’s a lot more to Jaffar than his good looks and pleasant personality as both Mathew and Neil (Bob Franklin) reveal. Dawn steps up her campaign to walk again and in an effort to lose her bum, Christine is put on a strict diet and exercise regime by Ky. Oils Ain’t Oils score their first gig.

8:30pm – Wednesday, November 10 on ABC1

Frances’s (Robyn Butler) worst nightmare has come true… she’s once again living under the same roof as her mother. With the tuna for sale on ebay, Frances hopes it won’t be long before they can afford to send chain-smoking Pearl (Victoria Eagger) back to Gentle Pines. In the meantime, Terry (Wayne Hope) is charged with keeping an eye on her during the day.

Since giving up breastfeeding, Christine (Roz Hammond) has trouble controlling her eating. Still feeling guilty about Ky’s (Keith Brockett) accident, Dawn (Heidi Arena) starts fundraising for stem cell research in the hope of being able to walk again one day. Nada (Nicole Nabout) finds her personal details posted on an online Muslim dating service and Xavier Fisher (Angus Sampson) pays an unexpected visit to the library.

8:30pm – Wednesday, November 3 on ABC1

Pearl’s (Victoria Eagger) nursing home, Gentle Pines, is hounding Frances (Robyn Butler) for payment, money Frances doesn’t have. But if she doesn’t pay up, Pearl will end up living at the O’Brien house. Terry (Wayne Hope) desperately seeks a buyer for the tonnes of tuna stocked up in their garage.

Back at the library, Neil (Bob Franklin) gives Matthew (Stephen Ballantyne) some writing tips for his DVD reviews ‘Matthew Recommends’ and Frances is shocked when Dawn (Heidi Arena) hands in her resignation.

8:30pm – Wednesday, October 27 on ABC1

Frances (Robyn Butler) meets Indigo (Celia Pacquola) the ‘new age’ real estate agent who is going to sell Pearl’s (Victoria Eagger) house. Back at the library, Christine (Roz Hammond) sets up a major fundraising initiative that promises to make a lot of money. After another discouraging rejection letter for his novel, Matthew (Stephen Ballantyne) gets encouragement from Dawn (Heidi Arena) to start writing DVD reviews instead.

With his old band mates Biscuit (Justin Hamilton), Bingo (Tony Moclair) and Skunk (Craig Pilkington) on board, Terry is reliving his youth, playing with his old band – Oils Ain’t Oils… in the garage. Much to Frances’s relief, Indigo sells Pearl’s house, but celebrations are cut short when the mystery contents of the shipping container parked in Pearl’s front yard are revealed.

8:30pm – Wednesday, October 20 on ABC1

On tonight’s episode of The Librarians, with the help of Father Harris (Kim Gyngell), Frances (Robyn Butler) settles Pearl (Victoria Eagger) into a nursing home. To pay for Pearl’s new accommodation at Gentle Pines, Frances needs to sell her mother’s house, and fast.

When Xavier Fisher learns how badly the fundraising at the library is progressing, he threatens staff cuts.

Christine (Roz Hammond) revs Dawn (Heidi Arena) up on the fundraising front. Neil (Bob Franklin) and Jane decide to go into business together and approach Frances to take over the library’s cleaning contract. After the debacle at his wedding, Ky (Keith Brockett) returns to work on crutches.

8:30pm – Wednesday, October 13 on ABC1

Frances O’Brien, Head Librarian, is having a hellish time of it, and for once, it’s not all of her making.

Frances is devastated when she learns that her mother, Pearl (Victoria Eagger), suffering from both dementia and a really horrible personality, needs full time care.

But to make matters worse, a government bureaucrat Xavier Fisher (Angus Sampson) rules that public libraries are to turn a profit or face closure.

With a million dollars to raise, Frances appoints Dawn (Heidi Arena) to head up the fundraising campaign. But getting the rest of the Middleton Interactive Learning Centre staff motivated isn’t easy. Matthew (Stephen Ballantyne) is pursuing a book deal; Nada (Nicole Nabout) is fighting off advances from her ex-husband Hasan (Lachy Hulme), Neil has a new girlfriend Jane (Fiona Harris), and Ky (Keith Brockett) is busy planning his wedding day.

On the home front, Terry (Wayne Hope) tells Frances he’s reforming his 80s tribute band Oils Ain’t Oils. If that’s not enough to send Frances over the edge, she learns that her detestable mum Pearl (Victoria Eagger) has run up an unimaginable debt and ends up on the O’Brien’s doorstep.
