The Nanny

This is where Throng used to maintain an up to date TV Guide for GO! After running the guide for two years, we decided to leave it be as there are enough internet TV guides out there that also provide an accurate TV Guide for GO! (and all the other channels), subject to amendments.

For GO! programming details, visit the GO! website www.gochannel.com.au or your favourite internet guides such as ICE TV, Yahoo, and www.yourtv.com.au. Sometimes, they even put last minute programing changes on their GO! Facebook page: www.facebook.com/gochannel

Updated October 11, 2011

Two loved or hated TV stars are heading back to our screens. Tim allen of Home Improvement and Fran Dresher of The Nanny are premiering new sitcoms in the US this week.

Tim Allen is starring in the series “Last Man Standing” in a sitcom about his life with three daughters, a wife and him being the lone man. It also stars hector Elizondo (Concierge in Pretty Woman) and Nancy Travis (Mum in Three Men and a Babby series).

Here is the ABC networks synopsis: Mike Baxter is the marketing director for an iconic outdoor sporting goods store. He loves to have adventures while he’s traveling for work and, of course, he drives a pick-up truck. While Mike is king of the hill at work, he’s the odd man out in a home that is dominated by women — namely his wife, Vanessa, and their three daughters, 22- year-old Kristin, 17-year-old Mandy and 14-year-old Eve. After being a stay-at-home mom for years, Vanessa recently returned to the workplace and was quickly promoted (much to the dismay of her primarily male co-workers). As a result of Vanessa’s increased work load, Mike is pulled into more hands-on parenting than ever before.

While the ever whiny fran Dresher will be in Happily Divorced, a comedic look at life being married to a gay husband. Happily Divorced is inspired by the real lives of series creators Fran Drescher and Peter Marc Jacobson, who had been high school sweethearts and then married in 1978. They divorced in 1999. Jacobson later came out as gay to Drescher and the two remained friends. In 2010 the pair, who had previously created Drescher’s earlier series The Nanny, began developing the series based on their life experiences. Initially Drescher planned only to write and produce Happily Divorced but eventually decided to star as well. TV Land gave the green light to a pilot episode in November 2010. The network has announced that the series has been picked up with a ten-episode order.

No word yet on pickup’s here.

Programming Amendments Update March 30, 2011

1. So which channel does the Nanny belong to?

From this Saturday, April 2, GEM has put the Nanny back on at 6pm Saturdays and Sundays. Double episodes of Friends remain at 6pm weekdays on GEM, while the Nanny also remains on GO! at 7pm Tue – Thur.

The Nanny episodes that air on GEM on the weekends are from season 6, while GO has started from the first season.

2. Ten Oprah on Saturday evening

Sydney only: The Oprah Winfrey Show will air at 7pm Saturday April 9 instead of Bondi Vet. This episode features Justin Bieber, who will perform his first hit “Baby”.

3. Undercover Boss on Monday

7.30pm Monday April 4 on Ten will be Undercover Boss, featuring MGM Grand. That is instead of 2011: 100 Days of Disaster – a show now bumped out of the schedule twice.

4. Big AFL day for Adelaide April 9

Adelaide only: On April 9, Ten in Adelaide will air three AFL games. The one they’ll care most about in the city of churches will be at 5.30pm when Adelaide take on Fremantle. At 8.30pm is Richmond Vs Hawthorn and Western Bulldogs play the Gold Coast Suns at 1.30pm.

5. 7TWO Tuesday night movies at 9.30pm.

Maybe its school holidays, maybe its just ratings, but 7TWO have returned movies to Tuesday nights at 9.30pm from next Tuesday April 5.

The April 5 movie is Overboard from 1987 and on April 12, Seems Like Old Times from 1980. As a result, Hale & Pace moves to a start time around 11.40, after the movie, while Going Straight and the Carry On movies that were airing after 10.30pm are out.

Now that The Nanny has moved to GO, GEM has replaced its 6pm nightly spot with more Friends. That means, that on weekdays, Friends is on as a double episode from 6pm – 7pm as well as 6pm Saturdays.

So now we have Friends on GEM at the same time as Seinfeld on GO!

Friends on GEM 6pm Mon – Sat. 6.30pm Mon – Fri. Replays Mon – Fri 10am as well, 12.05 Saturdays.

Programming effective from Monday March 28, 2011.

From next week, GO! have introduced an extra nightly episode of Seinfeld at 6.30pm, as well as playing the series The Nanny from the start at 7.00pm.

The extra Seinfeld episode replaces The Middle – now repeated more than enough times for the few episodes GO! have, while The Nanny replaces Australia’s Funniest Home Videos – Daily Edition.

The Nanny started out on GO!, then moved to GEM, now is back on GO!. Given that The Nanny is still in GEM’s schedule for next week, there should be a change from GEM for 6pm as well.

So – GO!’s early evening strip now looks like this:

6pm Mon – Thur: Seinfeld. (Friday as well from April 8th)
6.30pm Tue – Thur: Seinfeld
7.00pm Tue – Thur: The Nanny.

At this stage, there are movies from 6.30pm on Mondays and from 6.00pm Fridays (6.30 from Friday April 8th).
