The X Factor
UPDATED. Smash, which Seven have promoted heavily for months, finally airs at 9.30pm Tuesday August 28, after Winners & Losers. The show aired in the US in February and soon after on Foxtel on the now defunct W Channel.
Meanwhile, there are three new episodes of Criminal Minds this week (and looks like four in the following week), as well as new Hung, Covert Affairs and Suits.

THE X FACTOR returns for 2012 with judges Mel B, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Ronan Keating and Guy Sebastian, and Luke Jacobz as host.
Also helping out this year are some of the world’s biggest stars who will be mentoring our contestants through to the live shows including Alicia Keys, Usher, Ke$ha and THE X FACTOR UK super group One Direction.
Last year, THE X FACTOR discovered 17-year-old Reece Mastin who has gone on to have three hit singles, a number one debut album and a sell-out national tour.
THE X FACTOR is open to singers 14 years and over – either solo performers or groups. Once through to the final audition process, the four judges will take on mentoring roles as the performers are split into categories – Boys under 25, Girls under 25, the Over 25s and Groups.
The X Factor Australia will return to our screens on Monday, August 20. Created by the world’s most powerful media identity, Simon Cowell – THE X FACTOR is one of the hottest TV franchises around the globe.

UPDATED. You get another four episodes of Once Upon A Time in the week starting August 5, then on Sunday August 12, another episode, with finale now on Monday August 13 at 8.30pm. On Thursday August 9, it is the season finales of Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. The Amazing Race Australia then finishes over three nights – Monday August 13-15. Seven’s early night schedule is then cleared for the launch of The X Factor in the week starting August 19. Continue reading »
At the end of last night’s The Amazing Race Australia, Seven promoted the fact that there were only three legs remaining in the race, but we will have to wait until August 13 for Amazing Race week – where (presumably) all three final episodes will air in the one week Monday August 13 – Wednesday August 15. Seven, Nine and Ten are now all heavily promoting their new shows that will takes us from now or after The London 2012 Olympics to the end of the 2012 ratings year. This year, there is an abundance of Australian produced content to fill our screens including new and returning titles.

First came the mysterious and baffling ousting of Carmen Smith as a contestant on The Voice because she’d sung backing vocals on his current single, Gold.
Now, we hear producers of the singing show banned Chris Sebastian, Guy’s younger brother and The Voice contestant, from attending his concert at the Hordern Pavilion in Sydney last week. Continue reading »
