Under the Hammer

8:00pm – Wednesday, December 29 on Seven

This week on UNDER THE HAMMER:

Damian and Vanessa

Damian, Vanessa and their two boys are selling their compact two bedroom home in Sydney’s Marrickville. They have simply outgrown the space and have dreams of a bigger house, with a bigger garden for the boys Jared & Tyler to play in. There’s even talk of a swimming pool and getting a dog. Damian and Vanessa have high expectations for their Sydney property. They’ve attended auctions in their local area over the past few months and have seen other vendors achieve impressive results.

Melinda

Melinda is a pharmacist – a single mother with three children and a mountain of debt. A difficult relationship break-up has left her with crippling mortgages on two properties. If she doesn’t get a great result at auction on her old family home – a townhouse by the beach in Aspendale – she and her children will lose their lovely current home as well.

Lionel and Jennifer

After eleven years Lionel and Jennifer have decided to sell their family home at Balgowlah in Sydney. Now their children have grown up it’s time to downsize and they’ve made the decision to move to a retirement village. But they also are travelling to the UK just prior to the auction so the entire sales campaign has been left in the hands of their agent.

8:00pm – Wednesday, December 22 on Seven

This week on UNDER THE HAMMER:

Vicki and Con

Vicki and Con are nervous about their auction. In the four weeks since their Bentleigh home in Melbourne went on the market the local property market has hit a slump and there’s been little interest in their home.

Elisa and Chris

Mother of four Elisa has taken on a huge task – she’s attempting a do-it-yourself renovation on her family’s Yarraville home in Melbourne and she has just one week to complete a long list of jobs before putting the property up for sale.

Joycelin

Art curator Joycelin and her teenage sons have decided to sell the former family home and start afresh. The home in the Brisbane suburb of Chapel Hill has been on the market for private sale for 12 months with no interest so Joycelin has decided to put it in the hands of her good friend and rookie agent Kumi Miranda. As the auction draws near Joycelin lets Kumi know that their whole financial future is riding on a good result.

8:00pm – Wednesday, December 15 on Seven

This week on UNDER THE HAMMER:

Nicole

Home owner Nicole is in an emotional state on the day of the auction of her investment property. She needs the property to sell for a good price so she can be reunited with her husband in Bahrain. Finally the auction gets under way but the first bid produces a stunning reaction from all.

Vicki and Con

Vicki and Con are a young couple with a big problem – they’ve bought a stunning new home but they spent $100,000 more than budgeted. They need to get a good price for their current home to ease their financial burden. But as the sale campaign begins the local real estate market takes a dip.

Anne and Ian

Anne and Ian moved from Melbourne to the Gold Coast to be closer to their grand children during their retirement but the Global Financial Crisis has hit hard and their retirement plans are now in ruin. They’ve reluctantly decided to sell their investment property in Melbourne and are relying on agent Mathew Cox to organize the auction.

8:00pm – Wednesday, December 8 on Seven

This week on UNDER THE HAMMER:

Sean and Michelle

Sean & Michelle’s auction is not off to a good start. Despite a large crowd and several registered bidders, auctioneer Jason Keen has to work the crowd for any sort of reaction.

Nicole

Home owner Nicole dabbles as an artist but contributes to her family’s income by buying and selling houses. She needs to sell the family’s current investment. But it’s discovered the property is subject to a heritage overlay which could prevent changes to the home. Suddenly buyers are rapidly losing interest.

Tanya

Recently single Mum Tanya is selling her large family home in Essendon to downgrade to a more affordable and manageable property, but she needs a top-price result to finance her transition. The four week campaign has taken a toll on the busy Mum, particularly the neighbor’s renovations which are still underway minutes before her final open for inspection.

It looks as though Seven will close out the ratings year with both the most number of viewers as well as the most number of local programming flops.

The network leads the list of new programming failures with a range of new Australian shows failing to take hold in the domestic market.

While Seven enjoyed success with the return of ratings powerhouse Packed to the Rafters, its list of pulled shows is vast.

AFL magazine show The Bounce barely got off the ground before being pulled along with The White Room, which lasted just two weeks.

Reality shows ICU, Beat The Star and Australia Versus were all pulled form Seven this year after poor showings, alongside The Suspects, Under The Hammer and Russell Crowe’s Damage Control documentary.

Channel Nine pulled new Kate Richie drama Cops LAC during the year while TEN managed to escape without any casualties.
