Wild Boys

The Central Coast’s Glenworth Valley has hosted the cast and crew of new Channel 7 series Wild Boys.

Late last month the Southern Star Entertainment production rolled into the idyllic area to film scenes for the new Daniel MacPherson and Zoe Ventoura series.

Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures marketing manager Nicole Hain said the cast and crew spent three days in the area.

Glenworth Valley was the perfect location to film Wild Boys,” Ms Hain said.

“With more than 1200ha of untouched wilderness, dramatic scenery, magnificent vistas and the Central Coast’s oldest standing homestead, built in 1832, it is easy to envisage Glenworth Valley as Australia in the 1800s.

“It is a popular location for film and television shoots and has recently been the location for a Nissan X-Trail commercial starring British adventurer Bear Grylls, as well as commercials for Toyota, Ford, Australia Post and FedEx.”

Channel Seven and Southern Star Entertainment today announced the new drama series – Wild Boys – will go into production next month.

“An Australian Western”, this new series is set in the 1800s and centres around a gang of bushrangers called the Wild Boys.

The cast will include Daniel MacPherson (City Homicide), Zoe Ventoura (Packed to the Rafters), Michael Dorman (Suburban Mayhem, The Secret Life of Us) and David Field (City Homicide).  Further cast announcements will be made soon.

Jack, Dan, Conrad and Captain Gunpowder are the Wild Boys –

- Jack wants enough gold to head west and buy land

- Dan wants enough gold to head west and buy women

- Captain Gunpowder wants to be feared and famous

- Conrad wants to elope with the Mayor’s daughter Emilia

The Wild Boys are making plans for the future – but for now they have to make do with each other as they stage hold-ups keeping one step ahead of the traps, trackers, and other outlaws.

Seven’s Head of Programming and Production, Tim Worner said today: “It’s fresh, it’s different and everything about it is Australian. If you look across the television landscape, you’ll quickly conclude there aren’t many bushranger dramas. There is a richness to the way Seven dramas are made and Wild Boys will be no exception.”

Wild Boys will be filmed in Sydney. Pre-production has commenced, with filming beginning next month.

Wild Boys is a Southern Star Entertainment Production for Channel Seven produced in association with Screen Australia and Screen NSW. Julie McGauran and Sarah Smith (Southern Star) are producing, with Seven’s Head of Drama, John Holmes.

Wild Boys joins Seven’s leading drama slate for 2011 – alongside Packed to the Rafters, Home and Away and the new drama Winners and Losers, which is launching soon.
