World’s Strictest Parents

7:30pm – Wednesday, September 16 on Seven

Will two troublesome teenagers meet their match tonight on WORLD’S STRICTEST PARENTS?

Lizzie and Stefan must spend a week under the strict regime of the Adegas, a typical middle class, Christian family in Ghana.

Relationships are forbidden and children must do household chores before school.

At school Lizzie gets into trouble for falling behind and as the teens get closer, mum Vida is uncomfortable with their relationship.

At the beach Lizzie reveals too much of her body for Vida’s liking, but as the week progresses they begin to bond, while Stefan turns into a productive member of the household.

As the teens head home, thanks to the Adegas they’re keen to change their ways.

Will Australia’s most troublesome teenagers meet their match tonight on WORLD’S STRICTEST PARENTS?

This week Micah and Stacey, both 16, are sent to Tennessee, USA, to spend a week with the picture perfect Davies family. Former Miss Tennessee Nise and her husband Brad, a speed and conditioning coach, have been married for 24 years. They have three children, who were all home-schooled and made to exercise six days a week. “We are strict on things that make you a successful happy person such as food, vitamins, exercise, posture, manners, church and Bible reading,” Nise says.

In the Davies house, there’s strictly no drinking or smoking and definitely no sex before marriage. “My parents would definitely not approve of sex before marriage,” says daughter Philipa, who wed when she was 20. “We all wear purity rings.” Son Josh adds, “Christianity has always been with us. Every day we have morning devotion to God…it helps us get our focus straight.”

Nise and Brad expect nothing less than perfection from their high-achieving brood. “The expectations for us at the school is As and Bs and no Cs at all,” Josh says. “If we don’t match this, they’ll take away the phone and the Internet so we can focus on our work.”

No swearing, no smoking, no wild parties and early curfews. Can seven days of tough love reform our tearaway teens?

Melbourne’s Micah is a skater boy at war with authority – or any “old people” for that matter. When he’s not smoking or drinking, he spends all his time hanging out at the skate park. Micah lives with his mother Joyce, who’s struggling to cope with her rude and verbally aggressive son. “I really don’t have a lot of control over him,” she says. “There’s no respect for me. You can’t help but wonder, ‘Where did I go wrong?’”

After six suspensions and repeated truancy, Stacey from Sydney has decided school just isn’t for her. “I made a teacher quit her job last year,” she says proudly. She’s loud and brash with an opinion on everything. According to parents Peter and Gayle, she went off the rails after they split two years ago. Stacey drinks heavily and smokes three packets of cigarettes a week. “I party every weekend. I go hard or go home.”

Micah and Stacey’s host family will certainly have their work cut out for them when this disobedient duo land on their doorstep.

Will new rules and the taste of a different way of life change them for the better? Can they learn the error of their ways and turn their lives around before it’s too late?

Will Australia’s most troublesome teenagers meet their match tonight on WORLD’S STRICTEST PARENTS?

Grant and Lucy Dodds will spend a week on an isolated farm in South Africa with the Moolmans, a strict Afrikaans family. Drinking, smoking and going out are forbidden and children must obey their parents at all times.

The teens must also attend a traditional private school in the nearest town. It’s an exacting regime and it doesn’t take long for Lucy to fall foul of the strict ‘no make-up’ rules. While Grant knuckles down, Lucy digs her heels in and gets expelled.

At the house it is a different story, as Lucy throws herself into the chores with gusto while Grant struggles to cope with the physical demands of farm life. After a fiery start to their relationship, dad Hannes and Grant begin to bond. By the end Hannes is the father figure that Grant has always lacked at home.

Will the Moolmans’ strict ways change Grant and Lucy? Will they return home determined to mend their ways?

This week Memphis, 17, and Zaine, 16, are sent to Singapore – one of the strictest societies in the world – to spend a week with the Chua family.

Mum Ean and Dad Meng believe in authoritative parenting. Their daughters Esse and Ada are both straight-A students at the most prestigious school in the country. Not only must the Chua girls eat dinner with their parents every night, sleepovers and boyfriends are strictly forbidden. They’ll have their work cut out for them with this week’s tearaways.

Memphis quit school at the end of Grade 11 when she was suspended for throwing a chair at another student. She lives with her mum, school teacher Michelle, who’s struggling to deal with Memphis’ bad attitude. Every weekend Memphis parties hard. She was recently brought home by police after jumping on a police car outside a party – only to sneak back out again minutes later.

Zaine is a slacker whose lack of motivation is tearing his family apart. He dropped out of school last year at the end of Grade 10. His parents have been insisting he find a job ever since. But Zaine believes there’s nothing wrong with his inactivity. “I’m a teenager so that’s my excuse. I don’t really have a plan. Like I look at the future and I just can’t see anything.”

Naomi and Ross must spend a week under the strict regime of the God-fearing Garnett family in Alabama.

The teens immediately flout the rules and Ross is livid when dad Mark goes through his belongings.

It’s the summer holidays but the teens must work in a homeless shelter downtown, and as they never lift a finger at home working hard is a big shock.

Though it’s illegal for teens to smoke in Alabama it doesn’t stop Naomi asking one of the homeless men for a cigarette. She endures the wrath of Mark when she gets home, while Ross is in trouble for leaving the shelter without permission.

Will the Garnetts’ strict but loving regime change Ross and Naomi? Will they return home determined to mend their ways?

Will Australia’s most troublesome teenagers meet their match tonight on WORLD’S STRICTEST PARENTS?

Each week a pair of head-strong Aussie teens will be sent overseas to live with some of the world’s strictest parents. These parents have tough rules. And even tougher punishments. But can they tame our wild teens?

This week Emily and Harry are bound for the small Irish village of Whitechurch to live with Mary and John Coleman and their five children. As practicing Catholics, their parenting is based on morality and tradition.

“Religion is a very clear cut, simple method in keeping yourself on the straight and narrow,” Mary says. “You have to be strict in order to love your children properly.”

But they’ll have their work cut out for them with this week’s naughty duo. Emily, 16, is meant to be attending TAFE but she spends most days sleeping, watching daytime TV and throwing wild parties. Earlier this year the Sydney-sider was busted for driving under the influence, without even having a license. “I got to high school and discovered make-up and hair straighteners and boys and drinking and that was more important than school work,” she says.

And her companion, Harry, is quite a handful too. According to dad Robin, “Harry steals, he lies, he swears, he goes out and doesn’t tell us where he’s going. The Perth tearaway drinks, destroys property, puts holes in doors, rips gates off hinges.” A few months ago he was even caught stealing a laptop from a teacher at school. After a string of explosive incidents he’s now onto his third high school.

This week Jono, 16, and Baylie, 17, are sent to South Africa to spend a week with the Bethe’s, a couple who’ve raised their family on a mix of fierce discipline and hard work.

Smokes and booze are off limits. And there’s a zero tolerance for lying, tantrums and slacking off.

Serial runaway Jono, from Ballina, NSW, has been reported as a missing person four times. He didn’t finish Year 10 and has been doing “pretty much nothing” ever since. Jono’s a self-confessed liar and manipulator whose parents refuse to give him money because he spends it on marijuana, cigarettes and alcohol.

Party princess Baylie, from Adelaide, SA, is used to getting her own way and she’ll go to any length to ensure that she does. Like her childhood idol Paris Hilton, Baylie parties most nights of the week – albeit with a fake I.D. At just 15 years of age she started drinking and smoking. During one bender, she stopped breathing and had to be rushed to hospital. On another occasion she deliberately backed her car into an ex-boyfriend and broke his foot.

Each week a pair of head-strong Aussie teens will be sent overseas to live with some of the world’s strictest parents. These parents have tough rules. And even tougher punishments. But can they tame our wild teens?

This week Jess and Kyle, both 16, are sent to the USA to spend a week with the Gibsons, an extremely conservative and religious family.

No swearing, no smoking, no wild parties and early curfews. Can seven days of tough love reform our tearaway teens? Our Aussie parents are desperate to find out.

Foul-mouthed Jess has dropped out of school, barely attends TAFE and quit her part-time retail job after just a week. According to mum Jenny, she spends most days “not working, not studying, smoking pot and drinking alcohol”.

Surfer dude Kyle’s been repeatedly suspended from school for bullying, fighting and threatening teachers. He does what he likes when he likes. When he’s not binge-drinking with his mates, he’s either entertaining a new girlfriend or subjecting his grandparents to a tirade of swearing.

Kyle and Jess’s host family in Noblesville, Indiana will certainly have their work cut out for them when this disobedient duo land on their doorstep.
