New South Wales captain Kurt Gidley and Queensland hard man Michael Crocker will appear on The Footy Show Thursday, June 25 at 9.30pm on Channel Nine.

With the Maroons securing an historic fourth successive Origin series in their 24-14 win against the Blues in game two of the 2009 Harvey Norman State of Origin last night, Gidley will join Paul “Fatty” Vautin, Phil “Gus” Gould and Andrew “Vossy” Voss on the panel to talk about what went wrong with the Blues, while Crocker will spruik the Queensland Maroons’ victory. Gould, the Blues’ most successful coach, will also give his frank appraisal of the performance of both teams.

St George Illawarra halfback Jamie Soward and Bulldogs hooker Michael Ennis will appear on The Footy Show tonight at 9.30pm on Channel Nine.

Soward will join Paul Vautin, Phil Gould and Andrew Voss as a special guest host. He will discuss his team’s impressive run so far this season, and how the top-of-the-table Dragons are preparing for Sunday’s clash with the North Queensland Cowboys.

The panel will cross to Michael Ennis in Brisbane to preview tomorrow night’s blockbuster between the Bulldogs and Brisbane Broncos, which will screen live on Nine’s Friday Night Football from 7.30pm.

State of Origin Wrap 2009

Tonight The Footy Show will take viewers deep inside the New South Wales and Queensland bunkers, with exclusive access from the opener to this year’s State of Origin series in a special edition live from Melbourne at 9.30pm on Channel Nine.

State of Origin Queensland great Paul ‘Fatty’ Vautin and New South Wales’ most successful coach, Phil ‘Gus’ Gould, along with Andrew ‘Vossy’ Voss, will be joined by guest host Melbourne Storm halfback Cooper Cronk, to dissect all the on-field action. Gus will analyse Origin 1 in the way that only he can, while Cronk will also talk about the Storm’s preparations ahead of tomorrow night’s anticipated clash against the Brisbane Broncos.

Triumphant Maroons’ interchange player Ben Hannant will join the panel to give his insight into Queensland’s 28-18 win against New South Wales. Meanwhile, Blues’ debutant Terry Campese will also appear live to talk about his first taste of Origin.

Sonny Bill on the Footy Show tonight

Sonny Bill Williams returns to Australia for the first time since walking away from the Bulldogs in 2008, and he speaks exclusively to The Footy Show.

The Footy Show will televise an exclusive interview with embattled Manly fullback Brett Stewart tomorrow night at 9.30pm.

The interview was conducted at the Sea Eagles’ season launch just hours prior to the alleged incident that has led to a charge of sexual assault being brought against the star Manly player.

In a week where rugby league has dominated the news for all the wrong reasons, NRL chief executive David Gallop will join panellists Paul Vautin, Matthew Johns and Andrew Voss in the studio to discuss the hot issues.

Paul Harragon hangs up his boots

After 14 years, The Footy Show’s Paul “the Chief” Harragon has decided to hang up his boots.

“The Footy Show, like any business is undergoing big changes for its future success. I was very pleased to be offered a role as a part of that future, however after some careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that the time is right for me to move on,” Harragon said today.

“The Footy Show has given me great enjoyment and friendships over the years and played a very important part in spreading rugby league into households across Australia, which it will continue to do.

“I would like to wish Channel Nine and The Footy Show every success.”

Harragon began his television career in 1994 as a guest on the first prime-time episode of The Footy Show. He became a regular contributor and panellist on the program before joining the panel as a full-time member in 2001.

Finals countdown with Ricky Stuart, Steve Price and Nathan Fein

With four teams, three games and two weekends to go, there can only be one winner – and the countdown to rugby league’s 2008 grand final continues on The Footy Show tomorrow at 9.30pm on Nine.

Ahead of a massive weekend of NRL footy finals, Fatty, Laurie, Matt and Chief will be joined by Cronulla Sharks coach, Ricky Stuart.

After suffering a season-ending knee injury at training yesterday, Seymour will join Fatty, Matty and Chief on the panel to talk about the surgery he faces tomorrow morning to repair the damage to his knee ligaments.

Seymour will also discuss Cronulla’s preparation for their clash with the winner of Saturday’s elimination final between the Brisbane Broncos and Melbourne Storm in next weekend’s preliminary final.
