Throng’s best of 2009 polls continue with poll number 3 asking what your favourite crime procedural for the year was. Crime procedurals are almost the staple programs these days of prime time with numerous titles airing each week during the ratings season.
NCIS was by far the most successful in terms of ratings and one of the most watched shows on channel Ten for 2009. Even repeats of NCIS rate almost as high as new episodes. The spin off NCIS: LA has not faired so well so far. Repeats of NCIS will air on Ten again from Tuesday Dec 15 at 8.30pm and can also be seen on TV1. NCIS is one of pay TV’s top rating non sport show as well.
Criminal Minds and Bones were channels Seven’s best crime procedurals while the Mentalist is doing very well for Nine. Nine also airs the three CSI franchises although only the original seems to get a stable time slot with both Miami and New York being on and off all year. CSI: New York is still on Thursdays at 9.30 with new episodes and repeats following at 10.30.
Others in 2009 include Lie to Me, seen on Ten (and in repeats over summer), Cold Case, Without a Trace both were on Nine. The short lived but entertaining Life on Mars, Numb3rs and Burn Notice all appeared on Ten in 2009 with earlier seasons also playing on cable channels like W, Arena and TV1.
