With the 2009 TV ratings year all but over and the end of the year approaching fast, we take a look back at what was on TV in 2009 and reflect on which shows viewers have enjoyed.
Over the next few weeks, Throng will be putting up a number of polls that will allow you to vote for shows of particular types. The first Best of 2009 Poll is about Australian Dramas.
Stand out successes in 2009 in Australian drama have included Packed to the Rafters which consistently has rated just below the two million mark and Underbelly from earlier in the year which was watched by an average of nearly 2.2 million. Rush on Ten has performed well in 2009 although started losing viewers while Beauty and the Geek was against it. City Homicide fell from it’s 2008 highs in 2009, a victim of timeslot changes with the show having three different timeslots in 2009. Nine’s Rescue Special Ops failed to impress but has been renewed for 2010 while Sea Patrol also on Nine was a solid performer on Monday nights. Sevens’ All Saints came to an end in 2009 after over a decade on the air.
