GO! Get some new shows... Stay Tuned!

July 5th, 2010

Hot off the GO Facebook page:

GO! TV: GO! is making way for some new hot shows straight from the USA... stay tuned.

What could this be about?

What new hot shows could they be referring to… and will any of them be given enough chance for an audience to grow.

We have seen time and time again GO programming change at the drop of a hat in rapid response to unfavourable ratings. While it is well understood that the networks need to achieve good ratings to make money, it would make more sense to run a more stable schedule and allow shows to build.

All new Monday night line up for Go!

March 23rd, 2010

Monday nights on GO! bring viewers Australian premiere episodes of three of the sexiest programs on television – The Vampire Diaries, Nip/Tuck and Weeds.

Starting at 8.30pm on Monday, March 29, are new episodes of The Vampire Diaries, fast- tracked from the United States. When we last left the crew from Mystic Falls, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) had finally done what he’d set out to do for centuries – open the tomb. But his world came crashing down when he found the love of his life, Katherine, wasn’t in it.

Following The Vampire Diaries at 9.30pm, new episodes will launch the sixth and final season of the award-winning drama, Nip/Tuck. Encores Galore as Networks Repeat Top Shows This Week.

October 1st, 2009

It’s been a big week of TV and no doubt some people have missed certain shows due to not being able to record one while they watched another or simply forgetting what was on. All three commercial networks are repeating some of their big shows this week in an attempt to catch people who may not have watched first time. This is common practice for new shows to help build audience share.

Channel Ten are repeating Celebrity Masterchef, NCIS: LA and NCIS on Friday night (Oct 2) from 7.30 (NCIS:LA 8.30, NCIS 9.30). That means the Simpsons and the movie are out this week. GO Girls will still air at 10.30pm. It also means that Ten will have aired 6 hours of NCIS this week.

Celebrity Masterchef and NCIS:LA were on at the same time as Hey Hey on Nine so did not achieve the audience that perhaps they should have. NCIS was on Tuesday night against Packed to the Rafters.

Channel Nine and GO! Monday September 28 - How Not To Program.

September 29th, 2009

In 2009 we have seen numerous examples of bad programming decisions from channel 9 but what happened last night - Monday Sept 28 - simply takes the cake!

Channel Nine would have known well in advance, that after 3 months of hype, Seven’s FlashForward would win the 8.30 Monday time slot. They have chosen to put the Mentalist on at the same time - which is not a bad decision considering the Mentalist tends to skew a different more female demographic to what FlashForward does. There was not enough promotion of the Mentalist in comparison. In fact, from what I saw, there was more hype around the premiere of the Vampire Diaries on GO at the same time as there was for the Mentalist. And the debut of the Apprentice Australia warranted so much attention that it had water marks during the Mentalist and was to be aired on GO at the same time as it was on Nine.
