Geraldine (Dawn French) is looking forward to organising her own wedding to Harry (Richard Armitage). However, the villagers insist on arranging it for her as their gift to her and she doesn't have the heart to tell them otherwise.
The evening before the wedding, Owen (Roger Lloyd-Pack), Jim (Trevor Peacock) and Jeremy (Hugh Bonneville), an old college friend who Geraldine has chosen to conduct her wedding, all propose to her.
On the wedding day, her beautiful white dress is ruined so she goes to church in her favourite pyjamas. Despite the ceremony being a complete debacle, Geraldine finally marries Harry.
