As the Bourke family drive away from Wormwood they meet Mick’s father whose old four wheel drive has broken down.

Grandpa is off on another of his “adventures”. This time he is looking for a rare frog, and decides to take Ned on a road trip to find it.

When Ned accidentally upsets Grandpa’s good luck charm - Basil the Spitting Rat – it imbues him with the power to spit blue goop that acts like acid.

Very handy when a gang of bikies come after Grandpa - but less handy when Ned accidentally disables Grandpa’s car and they are stranded in the outback with no water.

Wormwood is a comic fantasy, a modern Grimm’s fairy tale complete with:

Giant earthworms (who are the mainstay of the local economy); Boys who can fly (badly); Noses that run (zero to 100 in 9 seconds flat); and A monster who lives in a forest pond and has indigestion.
